Great vid, I wish you showed the jab to the body Potan comes to mind as well as a prime JDS.. my go to set ups are overhand hook to the body , Lead hook to the head cross to the body or lead body hook / rear body hook.. The Holtzken but I feint a jab then uppercut the head into a lead body shot
“Potan” is shit, he doesn’t change level with his jab, throws it like a plane crash with a downward angle \ = no shoulder protecting his chin it only worked cuz Stricklands defence is hilarious
@@sxyaln8801 Gsp used the body jab the best in mma in my opinion. He basically built his entire career off of mixing up jabs to the body and head with his takedowns.
My absolute fave is...jab (throwaway just to blind. Faster than commiting to it), right uppercut with thumb up (its way easier to split through the guard that way and land), livershot. Right uppercut landing repeatedly is scary for opponent making him shell up high even more and then the liver is free to hit. The right uppercut gives you even more torque for the livershot then a straight right...so yeah this by far my number one. Sometimes I even just feint the uppercut or just tou h the guard with it
Legend love your content glad you made some body punching content I am really trying to become a big body puncher in Mma! Working well in sparring so far
Awesome details to this… to me everything always has worked off of my jab, reading how they counter, how many times they try and counter it the same way, etc etc. That tells me where I’m going at times. Either staying upstairs or being able to t off on the body and back upstairs.
I have problems making someone cover up and get that close and just letting my hands go I find great succes with the jab to the body and the rear body hook tho just not the liver hook
Hooks and Shovel punches to the body are great, though i wont recommend doing jab to the body in MMA/kickboxing/MuayThai because it can be exploited and countered with a knee if timed perfectly, Jose Aldo did that to some fighter in WEC back in 20(00) something, beautiful knock out by Scarface.
What do u think about 'high guard in mma' since trainers reccomend it only in boxing and kickboxing because of no takedown threat. Interested in this after watching yan and song bang it out high guard style😊
Ngl, yan and yadong WERE openly competing to see who is a better boxer, so it might not be super wise against an opponent that doesnt throw a lot of punches, or someone who likes to grab the wrists and grapple You saw O'Malley doing to vera later on that night. Vera would shell up, omalley would grab both wrists and start firing knees I think high guard is best used as an active guard in mma. Watch how dustin pourier uses it. He likes to shell up in that high guard position, and the moves his hands/arms to intercept incoming punches. That's how he sets up a lot of counterstrikes. Simple catch and counters, stationary in the pocket when he's being blitzed. (His diamond guard he combines w footwork, so I'm not talking about that) Another thing is, u gotta mix up the guard. Even in boxing, fighters rarely use a single guard the whole time. It's situational

Here’s a reminder that not every bodyshot has to be hard. Keep chipping away at guys as well as trying to break some ribs and burst some livers.
Exactly that! Keep chipping away! Thanks for commenting!
Another fantastic video mate 🔥🔥
Loving this video series you've been doing recently 🔥
Quality content mate! And to answer your question at the end it would perhaps be using the fence to heard people into them

I love body punching. I always say it’s one of the most underrated tools for MMA
Your channel is great bro
Nice I’ve been really trying to focus on counter combos to the body so this is helpful

Please make one for boxing

Pleaaase do one on Jack Della Maddalena, especially if you could make him sort of a sequel to your Boxing for MMA video!!
Great video! Next video can be ''The Complete Guide To devastating leg kicks in MMA''
Have a stance like ilia, bro leg is always ready and loaded, have bladed stance, be good at creating angles
@@gamingthisera6339 Thanks bro, I will take your suggestion into consideration.
Amazing video, get that man a pizza
Love Hardwick, vicious body shots
Nice❤
Nice
the big problem here is that i use boxing way better in southpaw than orthodox and it make very dificult to conect punches

Liver and chin must be protected at all times. Everything else is expendable
Great video, shoulda showed more clips of my boy JDM he works the body like no other fighter rn
