  • I read an interview where Lis said that she was pleased and grateful to be remembered. Such a down-to-Earth and modest person. How could anyone forget her? I wonder if she realized just how truly loved she was and still is.
The Whoniverse will never be the same without her and I still can't believe she's gone.
Her autobiography is coming out real soon, Amazon.com still lists it as not released yet. It's called "Who's That Girl?".
Song by Talis Kimberley. You can buy it at the link below for 1 pound or about $1.50 USD with all proceeds being donated to cancer research: taliskimberley.bandcamp.com/tr...

Today is the third anniversary of Elisabeth Sladen's untimely passing. Before I go to sleep, I'm going to look up at the night sky and imagine what perils Sarah Jane is keeping us safe from. Until we meet again Sarah Jane...

I will always, always love this woman and her character. Such a wonderful person and actress who brought such life to her performances. Goodnight Sarah Jane Smith. We'll miss you.

I first heard of this woman 1 year ago. A new whovian, I finally got up to "School Reunion", and there was this great companion with so much history I didn't know. She won my heart. Today I've watched all of New Who, and all of the SJA, and am knee deep into Sarah's time with the Classic Doctors, and it breaks my heart to know that she was gone before I even knew who she was. Most people want to travel with the Doctor; I want to be part of Sarah Jane's team. Goodnight, Sarah Jane Smith.

And me. It takes quite a bit to make me cry, but 'Lis....Gah, I don't know. She's done something to me. She's opened my eyes to the stars. I fell in love with her, and have gone back to watch the tom/john era as well as The Sarah Jane Adventures.
Even though I'm only 18, and wasn't around in her era, I can safely say that I love 'Lis, and she has filled my heart with stars.

I was just a kid when she died. I thought she was awesome and I still do, a brilliant role model character and woman herself by all accounts. Would have loved to have had the chance to meet her.

    ''Tribute to Sarah Jane''.
    I had a childhood hero,
    Sarah was her name,
    Sadly no longer with us,
    TV won't be the same.
    It really was a shock,
    Elisabeth Sladen died,
    When I saw the tributes,
    I felt quite sad inside.
    I met Elisabeth Sladen,
    I won't forget that day,
She made me feel quite special,
    That feeling never went away.
    I met her once again,
    About ten years or more,
She said that she remembered me,
    The times we met before.
    The actress Elisabeth Sladen,
    She played Sarah Jane,
    Rest in peace eternally,
    Until we meet again !.

It's so sad, she was my daughter's favourite actress in the Sarah Jane adventures. Gone too soon, RIP Elisabeth Sladen.

She was an amazing woman. I never knew of DW until the new series came out. I'm only 22. I first discovered her in the School Reunion ep but I was watching with my dad (who never cries or gets excited about shows) and he had tears in his eyes when he saw her. She was his favorite in the classic series. I didn't have as much of an attachment to her as others who grew up with her did but I cried all the same when she died.
    Such a beautiful soul.
Her loss made the world a bit less bright.

I am a 69 yr old Dr Who fan, first watching in the 70's when PBS imported them . Tom Baker and Jon Pertwee were my favorite Dr's, but all were good and filled a niche in "time" so to speak. Lis captivated me from the start for the reasons others have stated. Enjoyed her Sarah Jane Adventures and reminded all over again of her charming personality and spunk, even with older. Really sorry she got sick and a big hole is left, somewhat filled by all the episodes on RUclips.

I bought her book off of EBay. It's wonderful. She was 65.

Awwww, this is wonderful, NineCatz. Brings up the loss and sadness again, though. I'm a mid-50's guy and I don't cry, but I did for Lis. Surprised me, to feel such loss for someone I've never met. Elisabeth Sladen was very, very special, as all the wonderful comments here & elsewhere show.
For me the WHO "Golden Age" at its peak was LIS SLADEN, with Pertwee and Baker.
Her personality lit the screen to a degree I've rarely seen anyone else achieve.

  • @NineCatsz
    @NineCatsz  13 лет назад +5

@63DW89A It still brings tears to my eyes too.....She was such a special person. I loved her back in, as you call it, and I agree, the "WHO Golden Age" and she was fantastic in the new series and her own too. I got back into DW because of one person....Lis Sladen. When I found out she was going to guest on an epi of the new series, I was beside myself happy......

Read a comment from a man who was an 8-year-old-boy in the early 80's writing to the 15 stars listed in the back of a Marvel Dr Who comic. Only Lis Sladen sent him a handwritten letter and signed picture back, and she paid the postage herself to the U.S. There are many other similar comments about Lis posted in untold thousands of web messages since her sad passing.
Lis Sladen was genuine and it showed in Sarah Jane. She was deeply loved and her loss is felt by all aware of her.

@NineCatsz On YT I found the SJA "The Temptation of SJS" and was absolutely blown away by such mature Sci-Fi in a "Kids Show". Also saw "Death of the Doctor" and was also impressed. I'll be adding all seasons of SJA to my Classic Who "Sarah Jane" collection. Next year will see the release of "Death to the Daleks", "Terror of the Zygons" and "Android Invasion". "Invasion of the Dinosaurs" will follow in 2013. I have all SJS era DVD's except those.
Thanks again for this wonderful tribute!

Thanks to PBS over in Philadelphia in the late 80's early 90's we got a chance to experience Sarah Jane along side the 3rd doctor I had seen other companions since then come and go and none could really live up to the Standard set by Elisebeth with maybe Rose Tyler and Amelia Pond coming pretty close to that standard for me personally

Love it. The only thing it lacks of being perfect is NASA footage of Cady Coleman aboard the International Space Station at the appropriate line.
Absolute perfection would be fading from Cady floating beside Robonaut 2 to Sarah Jane with K-9.

@trickstick84 If you're referring to the pic at 00:24, I took that pic along with all the pics from 00:08 to the Red Nose Day Pic back in 1983 and 1984. I met her at 3 different conventions, 2 in Chicago, IL (1983 & in 1984 when she was pregnant) and once in Mobile, AL in 1983 which was my first convention and I drove 14 hours one way to AL just to see her.

@NineCatsz I was surprised to see that Lis had flown to America when she was 6 months pregnant ! She hated flying, and so must have been more-than-usually nervous then. I suppose that with a baby on the way, those dollars must have seemed very tempting !

Do you think time is ‘a gentle place’? I don’t know what exactly I believe but I hope it’s gentle. But you can’t really help believing in something with Sarah Jane around, sometimes I still look at the stars when I think of her.
