I’m so happy to have found you. The thing you are doing to educate us about chickens and farming is exactly what I’m going to do here in the US, but with dogs and cats. Thank you also for teaching us about your country. Love the accent! 😁👍
Very true on this topic. I have 40 layers and have almost completely eliminated feed from their diet by feeding them food waste from a local restaurant and BSFL. Not only has my profit skyrocketed but my eggs are higher demand due to better color and taste. I’m not saying feed is not needed but def does not need to be the exclusive diet. Keep up the great channel.
Dr Daniel. You are appreciated. You de-bunking of mainstream narratives from the control sytems out there is refreshing. Well done my brother. Keep it up. Im saving up to join and participate in your seminars.
Honestly I didn't realize they added colorant to the feeds but even here in my country we all know that the local chickens eggs are more nutritious than the commercial eggs and they definitely taste better too. They even smell deferent cooked or raw. Thanks for the info. Keep farming up
Well, I wrote my research project on commercial feed and self made feed, and my conclusion was that self made feed are better, they save money, u get them around anytime u want them, and u can change the formation anytime u desire. Thanks guy
My chickens lay orange yoke eggs. But they get a lot of grass and bugs. In the winter they only get commercial feed and I can tell the difference in taste and color. Very bland. But I'm going to check the feed - I want to limit the chemicals as much as possible. Great video!
Good to know.. I love his mentioned the rain is on the way.. it sounds making me missing home in South East Asian raining days. In Canada we live in the condo and did not hear and feel the same kind of rain.. In the future, please create raining day activities in your farm, Sir.
Pls make a video on how you manage your poultry farm Expecially when you are not in the farm.... how do you make sure your workers are feeding them well... and how to make sure no one is stealing from you.
Paid attention to the information but the sounds toward the end of the video is so pleasing. The African flavour at 11:35 to the end. Name of the instrumental please.
Oh my goodness! I've just been schooled on egg yolks! I honestly had no idea they were feeding us consumers colorants! I guess it's also because eggs do not have an ingredients note on the box 😌🤣 thank you Dr Daniel!!
Poultry farmers are loviiiiiing you. Doc ..mwaaaaxxx ..keep it up ..i have been following you from day one...very inspiring and to the point.. love from Capetown, soon to be farming in Rwanda too in 2 mnths God willing
If you want really yellow eggs then include marigolds (tagetes erecta) in your chicken feed, not only does it color the eggs more yellow it increases the lutein content in eggs which is good for your eyes.
im about to start an egg business.. i must say thank you very much for your informative videos on eggs. I will sure pass this information to my customers. What these companies are actually doing is called FOOD FRAUD.
I feed my chickens commercial feed but supplement tons from my veggie garden and ornamentals. I definitely notice a deeper more orangey color in the yolk when i feed them lots of calendulas and also foods high in beta carotene. I also notice a difference (more eggs and a richer color) during grasshopper season. During Dia de los Muertos (a celebration in Mexico) there are tooooooons of left over marigolds which the chickens like and there is a huge and visible difference to their egg yolk; it turns almost yellow, and then we use these to make Rompope (a traditional drink with eggnog and alcohol)...commercially they add colorant to it to give it a creamy yellow color, but with my eggs during that season, my aunt doesn't need to.
Good video. I am a poultry farmer from the age of 10. I never feeded my chicks with commercial feeds. It's because I am allergic to broiler eggs and non allergic to natural eggs... I feed my chicks with grass and home food waste and grains..
In the USA, some organic feed has marigold flowers added to the chicken feed to turn the yolks more yellow. We do not use that but have always used organic feed. We have an older flock that free ranges our 5 acre homestead. Their yolks are orange but I have lost 7 hens over the past two years to predators. I have another flock of 13 hens and two roosters that are kept in a temporary dog pen (150 sq ft) as we build a larger permanent building (350 sq ft). I don't want to confuse the birds by letting them free range yet because the dog kennel will be used in the future as a grow out pen and I will want them to go to the new pen at night in the future. I am tempted to not let them free range because I care about them so much and HATE losing them to predators but I also love that they keep our grasshopper population under control. I have been enjoying your videos. Thank you for making them. Your enthusiasm is wonderful! 👏
You are amazing, knowledge, and very humble - God will give you lots inshAllah. Also looking forward to speak/meet you sometime - I have a passion for Poultry and would love to get guidance.

Good observation, I rear chicken and I also came to realize that whenever I zgive them kales, grass, black jack leavesand pumpkin the yolk comes yellow.
Hi Daniel, I believe some animal feed companies normally add provitamine A which is the same a beta-carothene which is a usefull substance as well as a colorant. The human body will convert this to vitamin A
Dr, im from south africa and I keep chicken in at home but the eggs are more yellow than those you have there, we feed them ordinary foods. Correct as Bethany noted. What also works is boiling them in vinegar. Then throw off the hot water. Dunk in cold water for a few minutes and then remove the shell. If you let the eggs "mature" a couple of days they also peel easier like Daniel confirmed.
Hello... I would like to ask if i am going to use my free range chikens for egg layer production or table eggs. Can i still mix 1/2 vegetables or crops to 1/2 layer feeds? Or is this a bad ratio for layers? I would like to minimize feeds cost thanks
