As a Lithuanian from Canada living in the US - this was the best McAfee clip I have ever watched
It's great how they try to move on by McAfee just cannot get past that we lost to Lithuania.
how is a Lithuanian from Canada
@@alonsorodriguez9601 why don't you think for a couple of seconds. im sure you will think of a couple of scenarios how that is possible ;)

The only correct reaction tbh. The county is regressing as a whole and requires a fundamental resisting of priorities
If you know anything about basketball, Lithuania is someone who never should be taken lightly
yup. not the first time theyve done it.
Absolutely, but the crazy part is that the country has 2.8 million citizens. It's just mad impressive they can even compete vs the US if you look at it that way. The best part is that basketball is the nr.1 sport in Lithuania though!
Lithuania it’s been a powerhouse on international basketball forever.

It's Lithuania's national sport. Europe as a whole trains everybody in basketball fundamentals. They no longer do that in the USA, where athleticism is primary to basketball IQ.
I agree with you. I would argue it isn’t even athleticism in the US… it’s shooting and an over emphasis on guard skills. When i watch these kids play I see a ton of over dribbling and bad shot selection.
These days if you can't be a guard you suck

I'm half Lithuanian on my mom's side. My grandpa is 5'4 he loved basketball, that whole country loves ball. They've been consistently the second best country in the sport the last 40 years smh and these guys have no clue
All former soviet bloc countries LOVE Basketball. Why? They had serious state funded programs for Olympics events, and a few sports, obviously soccer was one but basketball was another that really took off. Sports were important during the cold war for soft power victories, and basketball was no different. Arvydas Sabonis, father of Domantas Sabonis, was one of the USSR legends who won them gold over the USA. These national programs where all these talented young players trained together from ages as young as 8 years old, and build great chemistry and fundamentals, are part of what refined the talent in the soviet bloc, which led to the eastern European players of today.
@@ghostbravo7127 you know the story...it was just amazing that McAfee has no clue
@@ghostbravo7127
Just heads up, but Lithuanians started seriously playing Basketball even before the Cold War when it was still an independent country, Lithuania was European Basketball champion in 1937 for example.
@@eruno_ Of course, but there is a reason why basketball in the US grew post WW2 and grew faster than most other countries, and as a sport grows, so does its popularity in the country most of the time. That created Soviet competition, which by the cold war was at its peak. So the Soviet Bloc and the US were ahead of most every other country by the 70s. Then things start to change and by the 90s we see a restructuring of eastern European basketball as the politicians of the region shift, but basketball does not decline. Meanwhile, by the 90s French basketball is starting to catch up to the US and Eastern Europeans, something they will achieve in the next two decades, partially by using the same African recruiting programs that brought their footballers to the next level.
Basketball is not my sport, but I was a D1 sprinter in my day, and I've known a couple Olympians, and sports, particularly the Olympics, and politics go hand in hand, every medal is seen as a soft power victory, and every country wants control and power to dictate the terms of the Olympics. The Chinese do it, the Russians and Soviets before them thought of it that way, even the Germans believed it was the perfect stage to shown their so called "Aryan master race."
@@ghostbravo7127what national programs? please tell me about the kazakh national program and it’s great succes 😂 Lithuania’s basketball was the best in Europe in the 30’s and soviets, if anything, postponed it’s development for 40 years, period.

Given how soft and overpaid the modern NBA is it's pretty easy to see why we lost!!
Yea because NBA players being overpaid has anything to do with how they play overseas.
The team went out and lost the World Cup. It happens. People are acting like the U.S. hasn’t won the last few Olympic gold medals (2000,2008,2012,2016,2020). The team will come out and represent themselves well in 2024.
@@Bang-Bang415yes they have an ego problem. Like you have an intellectual problem
@TheOtherMJ_76
Yeah, there are very good teams that don't even make it to the Olympics because of the qualifying system, so of course it's better for USA to send the best players there 😉 In the world cup everyone gets more equal opportunity, so USA is more afraid of that 😁
(yeah, I'm mostly just stirring a pot but there is also some truth on that 😉😂)
@TheOtherMJ_76 sounds like ye don't take the world cup as seriously as the Olympics. It should be more important like it is in most other big sports.

USA basketball has been a joke for a long time. They don't play defense, it's not a team sport, fundamentals are out the window, they travel and double dribble without consequence. It's no surprise international teams can beat them, especially given the top nba talents lately are from out of country
