- This is a little snippet of a PMR contact I had with a good radio friend of mine in France.
Mr Jacky 14-FRS-119 is located in Quinéville, France and on the 18th May 2020 we made a two-way contact on Channel 7 PMR 446 on two half-watt handhelds during some very good tropospheric ducting.
My radio was the Floureon FC200 (500mw) and Jacky was using the Retevis RT45 (500mw) and we successfully made it a two-way during those conditions.
Just thought i'd share the video.

Tropo conditions have been good around your area today, well done. Those Floureon radios certainly work well 👍
Nice one mike!
Thanks mate, couldn't quite believe it :)
Great contact. Bravo!! 73
Can't quite believe it happened to be honest 😂 thanks Tim 73' mate.
Yes congratulation Mike, it's a goog DX, 14HR050

Great contact! 73' :)
WoW on 0.5w is brilliant !
Great contact on the equipment in question... Utah beach is a great contact on any band with that power, let alone on PMR ..nice one Mike 👍
Thanks Sean :)
That's a great contact! Just shows that when conditions are right you can make the trip on almost anything! Brilliant video, 446 is a great band!
Thank you!
Hi Mike

That's good Ray, I was expecting a big dislike lol.
Thank you haha.
Will try this Floureon out on a PMR net soon when I get the van sorted eventually :)
Great work 👍 I had Jacky today too I'm in Hastings
Since found out many more people heard him on his son's toy PMR handy haha
Great contact, 446 is an excellent band and this shows what can be done. It is a pity we cannot use larger antennas and have more power (legally)
I haven't heard of the Floureon brand before but it certainly looks good. The furthest I've got with a legal (0.5 Watts) PMR radio is about 1 mile but that was in an urban environment so hopefully it will be a lot better from the hill-tops.
Excellent contact mate. Double handy you got it on video.
Hi fantastic contact, is channel 7 subtone 00 used for DX in UK?
73 from 1 division
No tones or codes usually if you’re trying for a bit of dx. 73’ all the best.
Excellent Mike what a range I have the same floureon radio in black also the retevis rt45 radios well worth the low prices I enjoyed the video post immensely thanks for posting stay safe
Many thanks Michael, appreciate the kind words. Stay safe mate, 73’
Just bought one of these. Seems you live in Brighton as me. Perhaps we can try a qso when I get mine. That's an amazing contact. Guess you had some tropo helping you that day though you are obviously high asl
Oh yes tropo was sky high that day, had been for a couple of days as well during that week. Most definitely I’ll keep an ear out for you on PMR and have a chat when you’re sorted :)
@@OnTheMicwithMike OK got mine a few days ago. ready for a test when you are free
@@digitalmediafan I'll have channel 8 listening out today so do give a shout :)
@@OnTheMicwithMike are you around? I'll call before 9am if you are
I often had JS8Call contacts with FRS stations. But on 27.245 MHz. But: On 446 MHz this is much cooler!
FB Nice DX
