The Deacon - also known as a Proto-Xenomorph - is a Xenomorph species, most likely created by the Engineers to be used as a weapon, until, it backfired.
It lacks a tail and has no inner jaw (well not a fully formed one like the classic xeno anyway), but instead has a more primitive jaw mechanism, where a second set of teeth slide forward out of the mouth, similar to a goblin shark. You could say that while the classic xeno has 4 jaws total, the deacon only has 3.
Has anyone considered just how amazingly strong the Deacon must be, to burst out of the Engineer's biomechanical suit, which could deflect bullets?

There was a queen but I think the deacon queen size was caused by the black goo note that the deacon queen was the one from Prometheus

razur- 1 there is a comic book where the deacon consumed more black goo as a food source, but it mutated too fast and turned into a living moutain. but i hope we see more of it before that happens.

The Trilobite overpowered an Enigneer in a bio suit without too much trouble. The _newborn_ Deacon was strong enough to burst out of the Engineer's body and biosuit. It would grow much bigger then a Xenomorph (I'm ignoring the consumption of the black goo here) and undoubtedly be a hell of a lot stronger/smarter. I'd say a standard Deacon would completely destroy a Xeno.
Would definitely defeat a drone and a worrior, but beyond that I think it gets harder for the deacon.

Deacon seems to be big and strong but xenomorph have acid blood, spikes, tails, bigger double jaws etc.. deacon has really no arguments except it size, but I actually doubt it would grow large

Deacons never stop growing there's a comic where humans landed on a xenomorph planet and were chased into a mountain later to discover that they were in the bloodstream of a hibernating deacon the size of a mountain
The planet that they landed on was where the Prometheus ship was at and the deacon grew around it and formed the big ass mountain

Most likely it would have been bigger. That also reminds me of the alien hybrid newborn from alien resurrection it was also just a baby and would have grown large if it was given a chance. Quick somebody submit what if artwork.

i always wanted them to expand upon the deacon in Alien: Covenant, but i guess we'll never know what happens to it in the cannon, the ending for it in Fire and Stone was ok, but i wanted to see it full grown and observe its behavior. the neomorph is a cool follow up to the general idea of the deacon, though they are different (birthing, evolutionary cycle, color, etc.), but look at the design's they are "cousins" in a way.
I think the deacon was one of many possible mutations, i.e. neomorph...

Predalien would whoop the newborn's ass because the Predalien has the combined strength, speed, tactics, instinct, and intelligence of a Xeno and a Predator, which basically equates to Newborn = Ass kicked
Predalien was nimble, fast and stealthy. And had double the strength of both the aliens and predator. The Predalien was tossing shit around like it was nothing.
The Newborn looks bulky and slow. But strong. Doesn't have the same weapons that Predalien has.

As many people have commented, the Deacon's size at birth compared to a Xenomorph leads me to believe that given enough time to fully mature ( black goop consumption excluded ) the deacon would be a monstrously big bad ass. I dont think all the exotic skeletal mass on the xenomorps could compare to the pure muscular slender of the deacon either. The engineers must have muscle density off the charts, so imagine the Deacon if it grew to 10 or 15 ft high and started stacking weight. Savage. Deacon wins.
I guess the Deacon's only chance vs a Xenomorph would be to trick the Xeno into falling to it's death or be brutalised by a Trilobite (IF that could happen of course). I don't really think a Xeno which can spit acid,has an endo jaw,2 long hand-wrists claws & a powerful blade tail could actually lose otherwise to a rather simple and to my opnion weak Deacon.
Mate a fully grown deacon is like 11 to 12 meters oppossed to the 3 meter max xeno and acid does not effect the deacon because it also has acid for blood
I feel like this Xeno vs Xeno thing is a bit unfair because I'm pretty sure the classic Xeno is supposed to perfect weapons, but this is still a amazing series
Late answer, but while you’re not necesserally wrong, you’re not necesserally right either.
I think the original Xenomorph could be seen as the ”perfect” organism because it possesses the bare minimum.
But keep in mind, Bishop said this without ever seeing another variant aswell.
What makes regular Xenos so effective is that they’re ”easily accessable”.
You need a Facehugger + a host (preferably human), and that’s it.
And only through that, you get a Xenomorph.
The Deacon requires a human to get infected by the black goo, then that person needs to impregnate another human.
Then said human gives birth to a huge facehugger (either through C-section or natural causes), and that facehugger needs to impregnate a Engineer.
This is very rare circumstances.
We call the AK-47 the best weapon on the planet, not because it’s the strongest weapon, but because it’s durable and easy to produce.
A 50-caliber sniper would be way more powerful, but have to many drawbacks for it to be considered optimal.
I kinda get that feeling here.
The regular Xenomorph has the acid blood, survived the vaacum in space etc.
It seems to possess most things necessary for it to be an unstoppable killing machine.
So i think there’s stronger variants out there, it’s just that the regular Xenomorph is not only effeicient, it can also reproduce quickly as soon as a queen is established.
Did the Deacon survive? I know it only had a brief appearance in the movie but was it featured in any books or comics where it explained or showed if it was killed or not?

I know I'm late but heres my opinion on this. I say the xenomorph wins. Why?
Well,we know how big deacons are when birthed so its likely they get larger. However, the deacon lacks a tail with a blade which gives the xenomorph an advantage
The xenomorph has armor covering all of its body. It stands 5-7 foot tall,can jump incredibly high and is very fast. It is an ambush predator,often using the shadows or vents to locate and kill its victims by using the darkness and vents as an advantage. Their inner jaw is capable of piercing predator armor,same with their tail. They have acidic blood and have shown high levels of intelligennce(Grid using her tail to spray acid on the predator,or when the aliens killed off the weakest individual and used the acidic blood to make a hole in the floor and escape the trap/cage)
The tail gives the xenomorph better balance even though it can balance without it aswell. Not only that but it seems to be able to climb on any surface and has the ability to climb vertically and upside down. Now,you may be wondering how the xeno wins since the deacon gets larger.
Well heres how I would imagine the battle would go down
The two endoparasitic life forms meet in an open field. One is taller and has armor but lacks a tail. The other one is about 1.5x smaller but has armor,a strong inner jaw,a tail blade,canines,and acidic blood. The deacon charges the xenomorph, but the xeno dodges it and slices the deacons leg open(we dont know if the deacon has acidic blood so let's say it doesnt). The deacon,enraged by the pain of the slice,charges at the xenomorph again extending its arms and inner jaw while screaming a terrifying sound. The xeno hisses and narrowly dodges the deacons claws and jumps up onto its back. It starts using its claws and tail to make small lacerations in the deacons armor. The deacon now freaking out rapidly shakes and sways its body in an attempt to get the xenomorph off. The xenomorph falls down and the deacon rips off its tail blade. The xenomorph, now injured and in fight or flight mode,arches it's back and hisses. The deacon charges the xenomorph and the xenomorph shakes its tail,spraying acid onto the deacon and surrounding areas. As the acid is slowly eating away at the deacons armor,it starts scratching at its head and starts swaying,screeching in pain. The xenomorph runs around the deacon,hissing and disorienting the deacon. It balances its weight into its legs and jumps into the side of the deacon. The claws cause small lacerations and it falls down and begins to run and hiss again. The deacon,in pain,strikes randomly in rage trying to hit the xenomorph. The deacon misses and stumbles,and the xenomorph jumps full force at the deacon and kicks it,causing it to fall down onto its side. The xenomorph jumps behind it dodging the claws and starts scratching,tearing and biting at the deacons neck. The deacon dies of exhaustion and injuries and the xenomorph scurries off into the darkness
Now this is just my take on what would happen but being honest, the fight can go either way

according to a youtube video from mr h reviews, it commented on the deacon saying that it had feasted on multiple black goo from the canisters which caused it to mutate into a giant mountain, however it could be possible that the black goo could have gotten in the way of its standard growth but thats just my speculation. also it would be a cool idea if the deacon can do a 270 degree turn of its head, making its sharp piercing head more sufficient when killing, just a fan thought
Let's look at everything unique about the deacons unique creation besides the goo. It got into shaw by sperm, was cut out, and was put in an engineer. So which detail made it different than a xenomorph
From what I can tell the deacon was still an infant when we saw it so more than likely it would have grown up to be huge.
Pretty sure the trilobyte got as big as it did because it had access to human baby cells which have no limit on size maturation and have encoded in them hormonal accelators.

they should make a movie about the engineers too,maybe like a animated version of engineers and like how did they get the black goo and how did they get infected before the prometheus had landed (million of yrs later) ,just make a movie...i am graphic designer myself, details or links about the series .. a big fan here since 2007..

In my opinion xenomorphs would win, they have extra weaponry and are also very smart let's not forget about the xenomorph, in predator vs aliens the one who pushed scar all the way, taking out two predators along the way, that xenomorph showed alot of cunning.
Or the time the xenomorph in that where captive and one sacrificed the other too escape, they learn to swim and are highly adaptive, almost making them the perfect species.
I like the deacon it's new and exciting, but the classic Xenomorphs are for me the most interesting species ever imagined, it just seems like theres nothing they can't do... That's my two cents either way

Technically the Deacon could possibly win as in one of the comics, the Deacon is REFERENCED (not a guaranteed fact so don't hate) to of became heavily mutated due to the black liquid/goo and basically became a mountain so I doubt the Xenomorph could win as the Deacon mountain can crush things inside of it such as it tries to crush the crew inside of it in the comics. 😅😂

What if the deacon was just one of the experiments that got casted away during the experimentation on the xenomorph that was long forgotten beacuse of its flaws like that lack of tail and 4th jaw and a exoskeleton or it could be a early version of the neomorph beacuse they do look somewhat similar other than the lack of tail but both are ready to fight right after birth

Apparently the Deacon is massively bigger than the Xeno, size plays a big factor in fights, and if it's bigger, it's also stronger, and since it's in the xeno family, it's probably very nimble and fast.
The xeno has a tail, which is an advantage, but also a disadvantage, the tail can be grabbed and trapped, manipulated.
It's head looks way more effective for ramming things, unlike the xeno.
I'm going with that Deacon > Xeno.

The thing that always bothered me about the Deacon is how large it is when it bursts. Yes, Engineers are huge and this creatures grow fast, but cmon just the head is bigger than the chest of the guy. It's impossible all that mass can be inside that body without ripping it appart.

The Decan grew into a mountain after they left. In the comic. Not sure if it's Canon.
Lets think about it for a sec on looks the Xeno appears to be the victor for its longer extended jaw and its body armor like features plus its speed and agility. But we also have to take in consideration that the Deacon xeno that bursted out of the Engineer was just a baby at its current size not only that it bursted out of the engineers bio suit and was birthed from an engineer.Whos to say that with all of the Xeno's cool quirks and features that the Xeno would even have an effect on the deacon sort of like the xeno fighting the deacon but the deacon has harder skin fully grown.Maybe at full size the deacon grows more appendages and bio armor features ,is faster,stronger,more intelligent etc. We do not yet know so its to early to make judgements especially since the deacon is still fairly knew.Why didn't the franchise continue on with this is beyond me but im hoping on the third prequel all questions will be answered and they finally connect everything including the deacons full capability's maybe its telepathic like the xeno's as well as having telekinesis or maybe its not hostile like the xeno's who knows but the franchise needs to do a better job and its so obvious how they can still save this franchise I hope they dont continue fucking it up.
