    “Jews under medieval Islam never suffered from the same general negative perception as in the Christian West. Despite regional variations and high medieval political instability, in medieval Islam multicultural environments, combined with active engagement in sciences and literature, led to something of an Islamic golden age for the Jews, at least according to most historical accounts. It has been primarily in the context of recent political developments that the once assumed positive views of Jewish life under medieval Islam have been seriously questioned.”
    Professor Dean Phillip Bell, who is dean and professor of Jewish history at Spertus Institute of Jewish Studies in Chicago Jews in the Early Modern World. New York, 2008, p. 25.

I am born and raised in Belgium but I am a proud Moroccan from region of Berkane. In that region you have the big tribe of the Bni Znassen. Within that big tribe you have smaller tribes like Beni Khalid and others. THese also have other subtribes that like I said some are mainly amazigh others are mainly Arab from origin. So yes there is a mix.

    • @FlF4.
      @FlF4. 3 месяца назад +10

      @@ki_1234ja yes there descendants of Arab tribes in Morocco, but the notion that the society is a mix of Arab and Amazigh is false because most of the people who claim to be arab are in fact arabized imazighen. What does them make Arab? That they speak Darija which is a creole language and in itself a mixture of languages.

    Jewish communities have a long history in Morocco, dating back over two millennia. The interaction between Jewish and Amazigh cultures has influenced various aspects of Moroccan art, including jewelry. Hi Erin,
    Just a couple of facts:
    1- Jews came to the area way before the arabs. In fact, there was a sizeable jewish population of Amazigh jews. Some of them still live in Israel today. With regards to the jews who came from Spain, it wasn't just the jews. Both muslims and jews who live in Spain and Portugal at the time, were forced to either change their religions to Chritianity, leave, or be killed. It is called the Spanish reconquista, which is a series of military and cultural campaigns that European Christian kingdoms waged against the Muslim kingdoms in Al Andalus (modern day Spain). Most of the Jews from Spain settled in the northern towns, such as Chefchaouen, and Tetouan.
    2- Jews were not made to live in the Jewish quarters or Mellahs. Jews who lived in the Mellahs, did so in order to preserve their culture and to keep their traditions, especially their religious traditions. Being a minority, their survival (anywhere in the world) depended on them staying together.

    The history of Moroccan Jews goes back a long way, in fact it is over 2,000 years old. At that time they emigrated from the Middle East or Egypt. Morocco was also called something different by the locals back then. The Amazighen were partly Christianized under Roman rule, and some also adopted the Jewish faith. In the 15th century, the expelled Jews from Andalusia also arrived.

    Morocco ruled over Spain for 800 years during the era known as "Al Andalus," which encompassed both Spain and Portugal. However, after the fall of Al Andalus, many Moroccans, along with Jewish communities, had to return to Morocco due to the Spanish Inquisition.
    Interestingly, Spain still incorporates over 4,000 Arabic words into its language as a result of this historical colonization.

    In 1948, there were 500,000 Jews here in Morocco, but today there are less than 2,000 Jews, and all of them have left for Israel to settle there.

    I'm sorry but don't rely on chatgpt. True some came from Spain but jews in Morocco are older than that and they're Moroccans so we don't see religion as a different entity we share so many celebrities and that's why you can see buildings and cemeteries everywhere.

      + Moroccans origins are Berbers- Amazigh, they became Muslims.
      The diaspora of jews, meaning their dispersion was the result of the Babylonian exile in 586 BCE. After the Babylonians conquered the kINGDOM OF JUDAH Cyrus the Great permitted the jews to return but part of the jewish community voluntarily remained where they where including a few in the Mediterranean region- they also fled in AD 41 because of Roman emperor Cladius. Now and since 1948 Israel is committing a GENOCIDE in Gaza and Palestine. (Verify all above)
      Historical events doesn't give them the right to commit a genocide.
