I would definitely do an ex-pat journey there in a decade or two.

Because of how they became directors and who appoints them. It is an old communist path and concept of management which leads to corruption and in which they always pushing their own incapable people based on communist background who then act like little protected dictators.

I work in mining in Australia my experience is most Croatian men are lazy.
At work you could never find them and they complained about everything..
I sacked them in the end.
Off they went down the road complaining.

Watching this video from Zagreb (visiting for some weeks) and nodding throughout most of the video :D
Having visited places like Belgrade (many times), Sarajevo, Tirana and Ljubljana, Zagreb was a shock for me, because at first I thought people was rude, and I was used to the Balkan warmth of people. But there are actually nice people here, it's just... a bit different, but once you understand how things work here, everything starts to make more sense.

I also find Croatian culture more similar to South African culture (where I am from) than Western Europe (where I have lived most of my life). We have many parallels in food, manners, gestures, home/country life etc. a traditional Balkan lives like a traditional South African. we should be twin countries.
