Val McDermid on her new novel 'Past Lying' and her writing process

One of the most celebrated names in crime writing, Val McDermid has now sold around twenty million books worldwide.
Her new paperback release' Past Lying' is the seventh in her series of novels featuring the police detective Karen Pirie - a character that's been brought to life by the actress Lauren Lyle in the drama series broadcast on STV.
Val spoke to John Mackay about her writing process.
