I was there! I saw him live and it was awesome. Total coincidence too. I was staying at the Washington DC Hilton (where he gave this speech) that day, and I checked in not knowing that anything special was happening. Until I saw the sign that said LULAC Convention, Keynote Speaker: Barack Obama. He is such a great speaker, really a spectacle to watch.
I'm reading his book titled "The Audacity of Hope" and it's very good to hear again those written words, the new policies and plans. Vote for him! (I wish I could but I live in Europe)
If you listened to the message, he was not stereotyping or classifying any race. What he was simply stating was that America needs to stop turning it's back on ANY person,(no matter what race) that may be less fortunate in whatever manner, and do something about helping them to become more fortunate. Obama '08
I am a long time fan and backer of Obama from early on. I live in Chicago and think well of him. I am very upset by something he says here. He states that as opposed to immigrants (legal and illegal) learning English, we as a country should all be learning Spanish. As a Latino and an American I feel he does not have a handle on how bad the problem with non-English speakers really is. I know people who have been in this country 20 years and never bothered to learn! We need to have English first!
There is alot of positive things that Obama offers. The problem is that he is not attacking the core source of the problems. Tax breaks are like handing out band-aids to people who are bleeding to death! Please look at Ron Paul! I would absolutly love to see Obama adopt R Pauls views on the source of all thes problems. And the two of them unite to bring about the true changes that are so badly needed. Now that would truelly be a real and unified change!!
Since the summer silly season is here, here's something a little lighter - Other people and groups that have had to suffer for their "suspicious" names: Claflin University's Orange Maroon Athletics Scholarship Association (OMASA); the Osaba Women's Centre in Spain; Obaha, the Moroccan musician and also a tropical cyclone in Papua New Guinea; the Obasa Group canadian freight company and of course Omaha in Nebraska, Georgia, Texas, Arkansas and Illinois.
Can't we just forget the cost of an election and start moving him into the White House? There is not much going on there now. I saw my FIRST McCain bumper sticker today... I'm bummed. Be well you all, and good Lord, vote!
Let's all vote for McCain. He wants to stay in Iraq for the next 100 years. The war only costs 11. 5 million dollars per hour! The foreclosure crisis is not real. The gas prices are not real! Jobs being shift overseas is not real. Vote for McCain 08 so that we can continue the war on terror! Al Qaida got so much stronger during the last 7 years. Bin Laden is so happy! He loves to see how America is going down! Vote McCain! I mean he was a POW. He knows what he's talking about. Right?
Chicagofella: You need to have your hearing tested. He never said that Americans need to learn Spanish. He said that Latino's need to learn English, that is all. I did hear him mention in one of the Democratic Debates that Americans should learn other LanguageS at school apart from learning English but what second language they learn will be of their choice, eg French, Italian, German etc. So don't panic, but do get your hearing checked out!!
dude, i have a hard time following your stream of consciousness, its all over the place. worst since depression. do YOU know we aren't even in a recession(that's a specific term with specific economic indicators that have not been met). the economy is in trouble, but we aren't even close to the depression. did i say anything about equity loans? you need to take a reading comprehension course. you know banks were forced to soften loan req's for lower income people, look what happened.
I get chills when I listen to these speeches. Si su puede!

Finally someone cares about my city!!! El Paso, TX!!!!!!!!
just awsome
I don't understand how anyone could not want to follow him. I guess I am just more idealistic than others.
