this one still makes me cry...it was so phenomenal being in that crowd. i wear my shirt often and remember....ladies and gentleman, the next President of the United States!!!!
This is the greatest politician I've ever seen in my life. I'm from Europe and I wish, we would have a Barack Obama over here. America: Vote for Barack Obama 08!
I get goosebumps when this man speaks! It is his message of hope, prosperity, and change that unites us. I would support Hilary, but not against Obama. He envisions a better future, and I think, he can actually do it. His emphasis on lowering health care premiums (everyone wants health care, but not everyone can pay 300-500+/monthly for premiums. Lower education costs, higher wages for our unsung heros: TEACHERS, liberal arts programs, end this Iraq mess that McCain thinks is working!
I've heard him make all these points in speeches many times since the JJ dinner. But in this one, his voice cracks, he's almost angry giving it. It's great!
We were right and yes we did. He will bring change and enthusiasm to our country. He was appointed for such a time as this. Even in the midst of doubt and reluctance he will prove to be our relief from peril and intellectual poverty.
MAN! When Obama talks I get SO pumped up and excited. I can't wait till he becomes President because he's going to forever change America for the best.
i actually cannot believe that someone with principles and honesty is so close to becoming the president of the united states. for the sake of all of us, please vote for him.
as a moderate Belgian I applaud Iowa's choice. I'm very satisfied Americans finally realize the last 7 years have been detrimental to their wonderful country. The problem of division will have to be dealt with now; I know a lot of Europeans feel prejudiced towards Americans and vice versa- which is ridiculous - but I feel this man is the only candidate capable and willing to reunite both continents. He has a sense of history in the making. What the...you go and make that history, America!
I'm not American, but if I was I'd vote for this man, I believe he can improve America's image in the rest of the world. It's a superficial wish but wouldn't it be a great milestone for America to have a president of a different skin colour? He's well spoken, intelligent, knows his stuff, I think the only direction someone like him could take America after Bush is upwards. A lot of the other candidates feel same-old, there's something fresh about this guy.
For over 40 years, candidates have failed to remind the public that government can represent THEM. For over 40 years, there has not been a candidate that inspired the public to ask themselves how they can help make their nation better. Thank you, Mr. Obama. - A fellow Illinoisan of Kansan Descent.
Hi I am not American but I still follow the US politics. This senetor is truly amazing. His speech reflects the vast majority of what the rest of the world thinks about the US state of affairs. I really hope Mr. Barack wins tomorrow and the subsequent elections. He is direct, clear and convincig. Hilary Clinton is a good candidate but would you trust your country for 3 terms under the same family?? Look what happened under Bush? Thankx and good luck! An audacious hopeful man
He said he did in his bid for state senate and senate. He is not in his presidential bid, and is now the sponsor of a bill for federal funding for public elections; he's ALREADY WORKING to clean up special interests! So yes, I call that integrity.
YES. To anyone who has family in Iowa, NH or is there yourself-- let them know how you feel about this candidate! Canvassing will be the only way to really make advances like this one stick in the primary. If you feel this speech, get out there to one of these states, volunteer to make phone calls, be constructive! This man has the charisma to do anything...
i absolutely agree with looneylucy. i haven't been "proud" to be an american in a long time. If obama wins, this will change. i think he brings a sincere belief that we can change this country. some say he's an idealist, but i'd rather see someone who is an idealist than someone who is satisfied with the shape of the country today.
Those who still have a decision to make REALLY need to go find out what the candidates have DONE, not what they say they are going to do. Read up on their ethics, read up on bills they've backed and sponsored, read up on their legislation. I want to know that the person I'm investing in IS who they SAY they are! Barack has always been able to unite divided groups, he is the only one who IS what he SAYS he is, and we deesperately need to be reunited to work toward saving our great nation.
I trust this man, He understands that before we can even help the world we have to first help ourselves. He doesn't neglect that america is in need, but he states the hopes of a better nation to bring a better world. He understands unity, he can't do it without us and he definitely pours his heart to see that we too are on the same page, not read lines from a paper. His responses to questions are real, not sugar coated, fabricated to sound good. But its genuine.
This man can make and change history but he can not do it alone, a great leader but he can not lead without everyones support and involvement. His recent suggestion to hold a summit with the Islamic World represents a unique opportunity and it's a huge step to the right direction. Go Obama and god may be with you....! From Muscat, Sultanate of Oman.
Thats was a great speech... in November of 2008, i will be of legal age to vote... not sure if i'll vote or not... but if i do... Barack is my candidate.
He has leadership qualities. He does his home work and work like a pro. It was a very metaphorical speech, not many specifics were mentioned,- the detail plan like as of interview@google. Big Words, gives a gr8 first impression, but should be a gr8 president I hope he wins.
Ron Paul's only saving grace is his common sense analysis of the Iraqi War. Besides that he is simply an over the top libertarian. Barack is extremely intelligent, inspirational, and... well listen to the speech! He is the only choice for the leader of the free world. Let's restore dignity and greatness to the United States!
It's modeled quite similar to Martin Luther King's 'I have a dream' speech, combined with his unique character and passion. I see the fire in his eyes, and I believe his passion, brilliantly done. The worst that can happen is that he can't much done because of the entrenched interests of the status quo. Even if that happens, watching him speak is good entertainment, and sure beats Dubya talking about 'nukular' weapons.
I like what a former senator from Colorado (and 2x presidential candidate) Gary Hart said about Obama: "...THE EMBODIMENT OF WHAT IS BEST ABOUT OUR NATION." Yes he is! Make America proud again! OBAMA '08
This is one of the most innovative speakers on foreign policy I've seen...go look at what he's SAID, not what the press would have you think; they have to sell themselves (and keep employeed by Rupert Murdoch), not represent the truth.
I'm supporting Ron Paul and have registered for the 1st time as republican just to vote for him but to be honest I'd be just as happy to see Obama or Richardson in the white house. I don't vote strictly based on party, I vote for the person and what they stand for. Anyway, this was a great speech.
THIS is the Obama that is going to win the presidency. This is the Obama that evokes imagery of Martin Luther King, JFK, even FDR (anyone else think "New New Deal" when he talked about his economic plans?).
This is a MAN, a ROLE MODEL, and a LEADER!!! America the time is now...right now to have a chance at a better future. We owe it to each other, to our families, and to the world to elect this brilliant, strong, honest, and worthy human being. He takes me breath away and he restores in me the faith to have in one another...that we don't have to be doomed if we just seize this opportunity. America needs you BARACK OBAMA!!!
congrats, barak. knew you would do it. BUT DO NOT LOSE HUMILITY. STOP PROCLAIMING YOUR PRESIDENCY PREMATURELY. we love you. you stand for the nation's redemption
I have found myself to be ashamed to be an American due to all its downfalls. But after hearing Obama's speach, he actually makes me proud to be a American, and believing in myself. Amazing what people can do to others.
I am doing a speech for my school; based upon Harold Ickes, "what is an American." and this is the fuel in which he once tried igniting in 1941, Obama is that one last hope that America can have, so that we can once become respected.
A true man for a canidate. I stand fully behind him for president. 110% A man who will stand firmly for his beliefs in america. He is the voice of a better world.
It doesn't come along often. The last time I saw anything like this was Robert F. Kennedy. I admit to underestimating Obama at first, but this convinces me that he is THE candidate the Democratic party and the country needs at this moment.
@joeJohey, a wholeheartedly advise you to give Ron Paul another chance. I too decided to withdraw my support from him for another single issue (his pro-life stand). But if you check the foundation of his ideas, the liberty, and following the constitution, you will realize that once the root of the current problems is addressed, things will change for the better.
AMAZING! Middle America can and should vote for this man! He has the integrity, clear conscience, and smarts to make positive change in the USA. If he can do a few things that have been neglected, it would save our society; educating children properly, promoting world peace/good USA relations, and getting this DAMN WAR over with! Terrorism is NOT Americans biggest problem!
Why not get rid of the office of the presidency entirely. Only followers need leaders and only leaders need followers. I prefer equality. But I guess that won't happen for a while. I'll probably vote for Obama.
As someone who was turned onto Obama only after reading his book- i must tell you that the answers are out there. He has some of the most detailed exact plans of action of all the candidates. He just gave a huge speech and Q&A at Google on his views on technological advancements and how to achieve them. Check out his website. The information is defiantly out there.
Obama is the best thing that has happened to American politics's. God bless him. I wished that I still lived in the Midwest. He would defiantly get my vote. Some say Obama needs Iowa, I say America needs Obama!
Human population has grown exponentially since the dawn of kind and there was never a crisis with gold as a currency. If anything you see price deflation making your savings more valuable as there is a greater work force. There was no need to go off the gold standard. Don't fix what ain't broken.
I think Congress should pass a law mandating that all primaries and caucuses for President and Congress be held on the SAME DAY, to address exactly this problem. States would still conduct the primaries, but it would get rid of all the "strategery" of front-loading primaries that deprives later states like Hawaii (and Kentucky here).
I like that he addressed restoring habeas corpus, but no one is challenging the fundamental problems better than Ron Paul. Ron Paul gets us out of the war, offers a non-intervention foreign policy, takes on the corruption of the IRS, and opposes the National ID, and the formation of the North American Union. These are the real issues, and it's very unpopular to talk about them. Ron Paul 2008!
this one still makes me cry...it was so phenomenal being in that crowd. i wear my shirt often and remember....ladies and gentleman, the next President of the United States!!!!

It's great!
Its like a beautiful symphony. Thats not a speech, its a work of art!
Barack is such a good speach giver. Open minded, and clear visioned. I hope to see more good speeches from him.
as a moderate Belgian I applaud Iowa's choice.
I'm very satisfied Americans finally realize the last 7 years have been detrimental to their wonderful country. If this man ends up being the Democratic nominee... The Republicans don't even have a pray of winning.. and I love it.
Well, I'm fired up and ready to go!
Most underrated speech in presidential politics ever.
If you can't feel these comments are coming from the gut you are not human.
What a powerful speech, I follow politics very closely and this is a true rarity. This might be a defining moment in this election.
Am not American but Barack Obama is an inspiration and a message of hope to all and sundry.
For over 40 years, candidates have failed to remind the public that government can represent THEM. For over 40 years, there has not been a candidate that inspired the public to ask themselves how they can help make their nation better. Thank you, Mr. Obama.

well put. I feel the same way. We really needed this.

This is his best speech up to this point and the turning point in the campaign.
I've seen him speak twice, and he gets the crowd fired up like you wouldn't believe. I really love this man.
Now that's a leader.
Finally!
Thank you Obama. You're a gift to the people.
im a malaysian, and i sure wish as hell that our leaders are as outstanding as barack..truly inspirational and truthful speech..

I'm glad Obama has waited until now to make his move. I will now, without question, cast my vote for Obama.
He has leadership qualities. He does his home work and work like a pro. It was a very metaphorical speech, not many specifics were mentioned,- the detail plan like as of interview@google.
Big Words, gives a gr8 first impression, but should be a gr8 president I hope he wins.
Wish I could vote for someone as inspiring and real as he is!..

This man is truly incredible. I have never been more proud to be an Obama supporter and an American.
This is one of the most innovative speakers on foreign policy I've seen...go look at what he's SAID, not what the press would have you think; they have to sell themselves (and keep employeed by Rupert Murdoch), not represent the truth.

Man, he is amazing! Dang, I wish I was old enough to vote... He's WAY better than Clinton.
He's good with rhetoric. Well, even if he didn't write it, he knows how to articulate it.
Barack is an inspiring man. I can't wait to call him Mr. President.
I'm supporting Ron Paul and have registered for the 1st time as republican just to vote for him but to be honest I'd be just as happy to see Obama or Richardson in the white house. I don't vote strictly based on party, I vote for the person and what they stand for. Anyway, this was a great speech.
question. Is that Pelosi introduing him ?
Im not an american voter but I hope this is your future president. For the good of our planet and for america.
i rank Obama amongst the top international speakers
you guys are lucky to have a candidate as level-headed, eloquent, and guided as barack.
Great speech and vision for the US, the world and Earth itself. I'm not an American but I sincerely hope Obama wins. No more Bush-types please!
It's called a campaign website. Read about it there.
THIS is the Obama that is going to win the presidency. This is the Obama that evokes imagery of Martin Luther King, JFK, even FDR (anyone else think "New New Deal" when he talked about his economic plans?).

I have found myself to be ashamed to be an American due to all its downfalls.
But after hearing Obama's speach, he actually makes me proud to be a American, and believing in myself.
Amazing what people can do to others.
thanks jcanavan, that's good to hear!
This man can sure as hell give a g'damn speech like the best of em.
What is that entrance song name?
A fine man who will represent our country well...
I am doing a speech for my school; based upon Harold Ickes, "what is an American." and this is the fuel in which he once tried igniting in 1941, Obama is that one last hope that America can have, so that we can once become respected.
Simply wow, i never thought I would here the Bulls starting lineup incorporated into a political event.
Most amazing speech I have heard in a long time and I am a cynic.A positive speech of hope not fear.
Barack Hussein Obama!
Nothing like the next US president being raised in Indonesia going to a Madrassa. Praise to Allah!!!!
This GREAT man - President Barack Obama!
A true man for a canidate. I stand fully behind him for president. 110% A man who will stand firmly for his beliefs in america. He is the voice of a better world.

I am not afraid to talk to people that disagree with me either, yet I don't run for president.
one of his best speaches, just all the cheering throws him off
This was a great speech! Barak really nailed it!
By the way Ron Paul is a KOOK. Don't fall for his anarchist BS.
the first black president
Oh yeah, that really came up in the speech...
@joeJohey, a wholeheartedly advise you to give Ron Paul another chance. I too decided to withdraw my support from him for another single issue (his pro-life stand).

What he say is what he say.
What he does is important.
Human population has grown exponentially since the dawn of kind and there was never a crisis with gold as a currency. If anything you see price deflation making your savings more valuable as there is a greater work force. There was no need to go off the gold standard. Don't fix what ain't broken.

great speech, its about time we had a smart president who could communicate. the time of the orator has returned.
