I really hope Pharaoh will still get support for a while, we need to see all these civilizations because it's very unlikely we'll get another late Bronze Age Total War after that.
This is just the first small DLC/update, they said Pharaoh will get support throughout 2024 and they also already said they have plans for a free map expansion that adds new cultures.

We can probably see Palatial Mycenaean Civilization still. Late Helladic IIIB is dated (wikipedia) between circa 1330 or 1315 to 1210 or 1200 BC. I guess it really depends on what chronology they are using. Though the traditional dating of the Trojan War is dated between 1194-1184 BC and Total War Saga Troy does mention Ramesses III in event. Ramesses himself ruled Egypt between circa 1186 to 1150 BC.
That should make it even more of braindead decision to make it combined campaigns. What is 10-30 years, especially in this setting that's almost like a fantastical tale to us?

They are probably using the old traditional dating of the Trojan War, if it happened, of 1194-1184 BC. Ramesses III ruled Egypt between 1186-1155 BC. TW Pharaoh's start date is 1205 BC in the final years of Merneptah's regin.

Actually, this is exactly what happened in the lore. For example, Nagash learned Black Magic from dark elves prisoners who came to raid the coast with a black ark.
i havent touched total war. since attilla. there were no actual progression in the franchise, just copy paste. more in depth battles. more in depth campaign maps. more city building and sieging. give us a muddy gritty medieval and get this amazing franchise back on track.
I hope CA persist with Pharaoh. It would be a shame if this title was dropped purely because of all the brats who spat the dummy when they didn't get Medieval 3. Pharaoh is a good game, and I'm sure the new content will make it even better.

My point is that Pharaoh was written off by large sections of the community, well before it was ever released. The criticism it has received has often been unfair and unwarranted, not to mention being deeply disrespectful to the men and women who worked on the game. Pharaoh is a bit more complex than most of the recent Total War titles (War Hammer), but if you bother to actually learn the game it is fun and a good challenge. Some people (like yourself?) might not appreciate the game, that is fair enough, but the community should stop all this incessant complaining. It is not a good look. I too hope that we'll get Medieval 3 sometime in the future and that hopefully too it'll be to your ( and all the others) satisfaction.@@Tomo_mo

This has been a problem with total war games since Shōgun 2. The scale is very small now, and most battles don't involve varied terrain, they involve a fight over a single hill, or a single valley with a few patches of trees
@@HelixWek Terrain in Pharaoh is very diverse, possibly the most diverse in the franchise. The physical size of the map is what is small, which becomes a problem if you play with very large unit sizes.

It wouldn't hurt to make the games people ask for instead of expanding on a game no one asked for. So many features claimed as new that existed before Rome 2.
That's what Total War always was, it's nothing new. Medieval 2 was copy paste from Rome 1, Napoleon from Empire, Attila from Rome 2, ToB from Attila, WH2 and 3 from WH1 and now Pharaoh from Troy. That's just what CA always did.

They already announced a free campaign map expansion that comes later this year that adds more regions and new cultures outside the current map. But you're still right, releasing it in this unfinished state and expecting people to like it was ridiculous. The game isn't even bad, it's quite good, but clearly incomplete in it's current state.

@@zack2804 It's not that they chose to ignore it, more like they (the studio making it) didn't get the time and resources from CA to put everything in the game on release. They only had about 2 years to make the game, which isn't much, and they are a lot smaller as a studio than the main historical team. And as I said, they already confirmed there will be a map expansion with new cultures and there aren't that much options for cultures. It may not be all cultures you mentioned, but some of them are almost certainly part of that. We should get news about that in the next few weeks since they said they show more of what that looks like after High Tide releases.

No, there won't be... because it's the bloody bronze age. Naval combat at the time was in its infancy, and they certainly hadn't developed strategies like boarding. The sea peoples are called that... because they came from the sea... nobody really knows which were their lands of origin, although there are various theories. Their ships were, more than likely, transport galleys. They weren't Atlanteans or anything...

I believe the outposts were mentioned before. It used to be a thing in Rome TW. I'd be nice to see this franchise keep and improve all the good mechanics that used to be present as well as introduce new ones
The real Sea People weren't involved in any naval battles (in general naval battles weren't really a thing yet in the Bronze Age). They're just called that because people didn't know where they came from, so they called them people from the sea. But they didn't have a navy, were not good sailors or anything, they're just regular soldiers on transport ships.

There really isnt a reason to add sea battles to this game. The Sea Warfare of the time was very undeveloped, so it would be very meh to experience.

The real Sea People weren't involved in any naval battles (in general naval battles weren't really a thing yet in the Bronze Age). They're just called that because people didn't know where they came from, so they called them people from the sea. But they didn't have a navy, were not good sailors or anything, they're just regular soldiers on transport ships.
@@lp4514 yeah no a lot of battles were fought on ships often close to the shore. As bad a game it is, Rome 2 could manage these hybrid battles yet Pharaoh doesn't even have naval battles at all
