1st story: The step-dad imo is being extremely childish calling OP's son those stupid nicknames. On the other hand, it was extremely disrespectful to step-dad's religion to throw away his Bible. Honestly, I feel like the step-dad should have had to apologize or something for the stupid nicknames, but I do think it was correct to punish the son for throwing away the Bible. Mainly I feel like it was a two way street and one shouldn't be punished but not the other.
2nd story: The OP is the a-hole. Thrusting on the son and his wife a welcoming party directly after coming home from the hospital and refusing to give in is not okay. The daughter in law was probably exhausted and just wanted to go home. A celebration is great and all, but if they don't want it. That being said, I do feel like there should have been a better way to get out of the welcoming party other than completely concealing the birth. What were they going to do long term?
