As someone trying to figure my way through inkscape / inkstitch these videos have helped so much in not only giving me great tips, but making me feel a lot less alone in my struggles with the program! Thanks for sharing info as you find it out, I appreciate it so much
I was losing my mind trying to figure out how to open the holes in my logo...THANK YOU!!! This video makes this so simple... I can take a logo make it into a PES file and embroider it in very little time!!!! Thank you!!! Thank you!!! Thank you!!!
Love you video! I have struggled for several weeks to try to make my logo into an embroidery file. After watching this video, I had it done in 15 minutes! Thank you!
Great content! I just bought my first embroidery machine. Making my way through your tutorials and really enjoying them! Have you tried decreasing the scan count when you're doing a trace bitmap to how many colors are actually present in the image? That might get rid of those extra underlying colors.
thank you for doing this. there's a completely new version of ink/stitch i tried following the instructions but after doing parameters i got stock, and other things which i managed to find them but some things are very diferent, will you upload a new video with updates? that'd be great
Thanks for watching! Ink/Stitch has had several updates since this video was published and the videos we have on them are all located in our playlist here: ruclips.net/video/mPaGwjwpzWc/видео.html The most recent video for update v3.1.0: ruclips.net/video/iqLGE7gDG_A/видео.html
Loved these videos. Its great to all learn together. Watched the last from my other channel doorway creative and you've been a great help. I just found out about this today and thought let's see if they've made any new videos on the fill and you have... I found a little trick or work around to get rid of the overlapping problems some patterns create. Sometimes you can just past over with the bucket fill in the same colour then delete the one underneath. This works well with SVGs for example have the skin colour running all the way under a shirt...or letters over a background colour. Adds a little bit of space inbetween the colours then to go easy on the machine. Thanks once again, you've been brilliant
Thanks for your videos, they are great to watch. Keep on commenting you say, so let me come up with a little addition to your video. I'll not cover how to very quickly fix the "filled holes" of the letters, since this has been fixed for the latest Ink/Stitch release. But I want to give two hints which might be helpful when you are tracing images. 1. Adjusting the number of scans to the number of colors in your image, this may prevent these duplicated overlaying objects from being created. 2. In the end of the video you describe how to remove the annoying fragments that often result from traced images. Ink/Stitch actually comes with a tool to remove those. The newest release will not necessarily complain about them as the previous Ink/Stitch version did, but you still not really want them to be stitched out. To remove small objects from the document run "Extensions > Ink/Stitch > Troubleshoot > Cleanup document..."
You would have to import your sketch and either use trace bitmap or manually trace your image. These videos should help you: ruclips.net/video/mPaGwjwpzWc/видео.html and ruclips.net/video/OcnK0KRFEdE/видео.html Thanks for watching!
You are absolutely right, you can just delete the image (jpeg or png) instead of moving to a different layer. We prefer to keep our source image in a layer in case we want to re-scan it. If you left it visible (i.e. didn't hide it), it will cause an error when checking your design in params (as it's not embroider-able). Thanks for watching!
Hi, thank you for all your advises for the free software. How can I display control panel on the top. I have mini Mac and the new version did not display all functions as I see in tutorial. Thanks
Thank you so much for this video! I’m learning so much from you and your daughter. I’m also using mac, but my inkspace extention does not have fill tools. Can you tell me how I can add it? Thank you in advance.
Thank you so much for watching! Just to clarify your problem, when you click Extensions>Ink/Stitch, you do not have "Fill Tools" available from the list? If that is the case, are you running the most current version of Inkscape and Ink/Stitch?
@@ProjectAnonymous_Duo yes when I click on extensions>ink/stitch I do not have fill tool. Do you know where that tool moved to? Thank you so much for replying ❤️
Provided you are on a current version of Inkscape/Ink/Stitch, on the top menu, click on "Help" and type "Fill Tools." The path for your fill tools should show up in the "menu item" area (i.e. ours show "Ink/Stitch>Fill Tools." If your search doesn't show any results for Fill Tools, then we'd suggest you try re-installing Ink/Stitch. Hope this helps.
It sound like you may have a hidden or very small object that isn’t properly formatted for stitching… try individually selecting your embroidery object to see if they will work in params… if they do, you just have to find the bad object. Hope this helps!
thank you very much for all your inkstitch tutorial. I have a doubt when iam saving DST file it is saving in 36 colours. iam unable to save with exact colour. can you help please
Hello I have a question. I just want to say thank you for helping me with everything about ink stitch and how to use it. My problem is that sometimes when I use an image and do trace bit and everything. I used params and the realistic preview. Everything looks good but when I go to embroider. Some of my stitches don’t fill. For example, I have some skipped lines of stitches. Any idea on how to fix that?
Well thank you for watching! For your issue, you could try increasing the density of your stitches, or changing the order that your objects stitch out in… Sometimes those little changes can drastically change the way your embroidery turns out. Hope this helps!
Hey guys, quick question. I did something like this but I put a border around the word company. Now, InkStitch's params is making it so that each letter is filled and then the stroke is done and since they're 2 different colors, it's basically me changing the thread twice for each letter. Is there a way to make it so that it does all the fills and then all the strokes? Or at least, make it do all the same colors at the same time instead of making me switch thread for each letter?
Hello, I was watching this video hoping I'd come across using the Clip > Set Inverse tool, it comes out visually as cut to the shape I want it, but not in the embroidery preview. Maybe I don't understand the tool or there's another way I can do this without starting from scratch?
The clip>Set inverse tool doesn't change the underlying path (it just hides), so it will not show up right in inkstitch, which is completely reliant on paths. Another way to achieve the same kind of effects are to use the Path tools (exclusion, intersection, division, etc). Hope this helps!
I’m trying to fill in some letters but since there’s space inbetween the lettters and I don’t want the full thing embroidered just the outline and the letter but not the negative space , do you know how I could do that
i followed the steps and everything but everytime i try to see if it’ll go through params i get a message that the image is not compatible and can not be stitched any help? i use windows too
The easy answer is to add a stroke to all three objects of the logo (Shift+desired border color), however, for the chunk that has two connected pieces, this will cause the border to stitch over itself at the seam. You could copy that piece (two connected colors), paste it to the side and run a Union command (Path>Union), that will delete all inside nodes, turn this into your stroke ("X" on color, shift + desired border color) and place on a higher layer over the design. That's what we'd do. Hope this helps!
That's an interesting one, not really sure what the issue could be... It's not on a layer that you have turned off? I assume you have your whole project highlighted. I would try highlighting and simulating only the part you are having issues with and see if it will appear then.
Try individually selecting each piece of your design to see which object is giving you the issue… once you find it, you can try to “break apart fill objects,” or if you find it’s not one of the pieces of your design, there may be a remnant of an unwanted “trace bitmap” object that you can delete. Hope this helps!
@@ProjectAnonymous_Duo yh it keeps popping up even after doing params to every single letter and it works perfectly then I did it word by word everything seems fine when I do the whole thing the error pops up but when I run the simulation everything seems to be stitching on normally with no errors in the stitching and no glitch maybe it might be a bug in the system because there only one D letter in the text.
Yes, we believe this may be a glitch in params, if your simulator stitches fine... We've run into similar problems when embroidering inkstitch lettering that overlaps a fill stitch... It should stitch out fine, provided your simulator will open and run.
You should be able to find Break Apart Fill Objects by going to: Extensions > Ink/Stitch > Fill Tools > Break Apart Fill Objects. If you don’t see what you are looking for go to the top menu, click on "Help" and type “Break Apart Fill Objects." The path for your fill tools should show up in the "menu item" area. If your search doesn't show any results for it, then we'd suggest you try re-installing Ink/Stitch. Hope this helps.
I can’t say we’ve come across this issue before, but we suggest you isolate the object causing the issue (by the object number) and see if it’s something obvious. If not, you could try and simplify it, to get it to work. Hope this helps!
