  • Welcome to the 7th tutorial of our Inkscape & Ink/Stitch series. In today’s tutorial, we’re going to be showing you how to add your own custom fonts to the lettering GUI tool in Ink/stitch. Adding fonts to the lettering tool is a long process because you have to digitize every single character, but we’ll show you a few tips we’ve learned to make the process easier for you! I hope you find this video helpful!

    you guys are amazing. As I learn to embroider I find myself gravitated toward your videos / or you are the only ones that teach what I want to learn. I do have a question. If I purchase a digitized file from say... etsy... can I download that to ink stich by following the last part of this video? I will pay $2 or $3 to have the hard part done. Can you do a video or update instructions if that is even possible.... I dont have that much time to do every letter, but want to see it in my lettering tool. P.S. I like and share every video :)

    In case anybody actually wants to know `em` as a unit is literally the size of the letter M. You're setting 100 units per M so the size of the M is 100. It's setting units per character size. So you can know if you using 14pt text the M is 14pt high, which is still just 100 units since that's the relationship you set during setup.

    Hello, I'm trying with a ttf font, but if I apply auto-route satin to a manually set path, auto route breaks the order of stitching, despite I had set to preserve the order.

    A Quick Note: UNCHECK "Autoroute satin" when creating the .json. You've done this. If you haven't (and I'd suggest that you do it in the file rather than let the json turn it on) then maybe. But autoroute isn't the best even when creating the font, some tweaking may be needed.

      Hello there! Sorry, we didn’t end up finishing…. We pulled that font for example and as you can see it’s a lot of work digitizing… We recommend only doing this process for a font you will use over and over (we had no such plans).

      @@ProjectAnonymous_Duo Do you guys have a video on how to size or scale up a design? My design comes out small.

    • @ProjectAnonymous_Duo
      @ProjectAnonymous_Duo  2 года назад

      We don’t have a specific video covering scaling, but if you set up your document properties (discussed in our first Inkscape/Inkstitch tutorial) you can make your design around your hoop size, for ease of scale. However, if you select all your objects in your design and drag a corner out while holding ctrl, your design can be adjusted to the size you want in scale. Hope this helps!

    • @ProjectAnonymous_Duo

      For letters (symbols) with multiple parts, it's the same process, you'll just have two or more "paths" within the object file. Hope this helps!

    HI. commenting again. I have spent countless hours trying to get a custom font digitized to no avail. I get every error, "One or more of the rungs doesn't intersect both rails." "One or more rails crosses itself, and this is not allowed. Please split into multiple satin columns." I have followed your videos exactly about satin stitches exactly, nd also have tried doing the entire outline in one go, then adding rails either during the outline process or after its done. And the only time I can get the params to show me the satin column preview, it's just a blob of stitching what should be the fill even though there is no fill selected, just stroke. what am I doing wrong? I feel as the though with amount of time spent attempting this, I would have been better off paying someone for the digitizing services (even though I do everything myself), satin stitches have been the most complex to figure out (for me). any help is appreciated.

    • @ProjectAnonymous_Duo
      @ProjectAnonymous_Duo  2 года назад

      Hi, to add an apostrophe into your lettering font, you’ll want to select it from your wanted font with your other characters in font forge. Then, you can digitize it the same as any other character. Hope this helps!

    I've followed everythibg in this video, but the last piece of the A wont stitch to the very top. You SPEEDED up the video at the most important part, then you slowed it back down, I was wondering Why?

    • @ProjectAnonymous_Duo
      @ProjectAnonymous_Duo  2 года назад +1

      Make sure your letter pieces don't connect to the nodes of other pieces, you'll notice that we slightly overlap each piece of our letter A, that should help you. As to why we sped up through that process, the focus of this particular tutorial was to cover the steps required to add new fonts to lettering, not necessarily how we turn our font into satin stitches... We understand the process can be confusing, but we had to make cuts in the video to keep it to a reasonable length.
