Hi everyone! I've freshened up the kitchen for spring using fabrics I've had for years, vintage dinnerware and the cutest tea set. Be sure to check out the blog post with photos and details as well: www.whisperingpineshomestead.net/2024/03/spring-decorating-in-the-cottage-farmhouse-kitchen.html
My Grandma had a very “Walton” style kitchen, but she hated it. It was open to the living area and she wanted a “proper” kitchen, closed off by walls. She was ashamed that company could see the “business” part of her home. Her dream house would have had every room walled off from the other rooms. All of us grandkids loved her house. We could be right there with all cooking, talking, laughing, and memories. I feel bad that she never got her dream kitchen,I’m glad it was never walled off.
Oh I’m sure you have many wonderful, wonderful memories, and I sure appreciate you sharing it with me because I can picture what a wonderful space it must have been☺️☺️☺️
Hi Anita, Love your kitchen. I feel the glass doors look so much nicer. And, the cabinet does not look cluttered at all. You have such wonderful vintage treasures. The kitchen looks so warm, cozy, and welcoming. Thank you for inviting us in. God bless.
Anita, I've been watching your videos for some time now and I just love the coziness of your design. Everything looks comfy and inviting. Thank you for sharing with us.
I love the glass front the best! A sweet way to share your treasures. ❤ I absolutely love the curtains and the addition to the tea towel. Just gorgeous!❤❤❤
I was so excited to see you had posted a new video! I love your house and the way you decorate so much! The glass doors in the cabinet are perfect! They do not look cluttered to me; they look beautiful. I can't get over that door in your kitchen! That is so stunning! Everything is has been touched by your sense of style and it couldn't be any prettier!
Thank you so much!! That screen door, as were all the 5-panel wood doors in our house, was in the Victorian my daddy grew up in here. I restored and hung them throughout the house:-)
Mrs.Vernon and I prefer the glass doors. It does not look cluttered to us just looks like a normal cabinet holding your dishes after all this is your home not a museum.
I love your house; have been reading your blog for several years. I love the way you reuse different pieces in different places, change fabrics and curtains out and move various things around such as pictures and lamps and pillows etc. Your house is so warm and inviting.
Thank you so much ☺️☺️☺️ Yes, a while back I realized calendars repeat, so I have a collection of old calendars I use for the coordinating current year☺️
On one side of my kitchen it is all glass, on the other side are all solid cupboards I like the glass in your kitchen. I have a antique painting ladder w/splashes of paint still on it. That is where I hang my nice linen seasonal tea towels. I have a Hoosier cabinet like in the Walton's I also have a 1930's art deco stove, porcelain table/chair set and a 1935 Frigidaire, plus I have a fireplace in my kitchen. Plus I live in a 90 yr. old farmhouse on 80 acres, so I'm all country, myself. Love your textiles. You could get lace shelf edging, that would look nice in your glass cabinets. I have been looking for 2 matching oil lamps to set on my fireplace. So nice & peaceful, your kitchen is.
Oh that sounds absolutely wonderful!!! Oh yes, I’ve thought about something on the edge - I guess I could just use some lace and maybe glue it? Thank you so much☺️☺️☺️
@@WhisperingPinesHomestead Real lace would look really nice. I got a 1930's pattern w/teacups & saucers w/a gingham patter in yellow. blue & red. So cute. I got it on E-bay. Not expense at all.
I really like the glass doors! They lend the feeling of a china cabinet to my eye.💖 Your entire kitchen is so beautifully ready for Spring to show up and stay. So very inviting. Wishing you and yours a blessed Easter celebration! 🤗🤗🤗🌹❤🌹
Oh Anita...such a beautiful video of your beautiful space(s). I will say, after seeing this video with your glass cabinet doors vs the solid wood, I do really like the glass ones. It seems to open up the space more and make it more interesting to the eye. I know more attention probably has to be given to keeping it orderly, but I do love it. I was sitting here thinking as I was watching, that I need to come back and watch it w/ pauses and make note in how you enhance ordinary things, b/c all of your thoughtful attention to detail is wonderful, and many times out of the box. Even how you utilize the salt box as a holder for your washcloths or the electric insulator as a candle is so fun. I've always appreciated your creativity and resourcefulness in using your skills to enhance every area of your home, keeping your love alive for heirlooms and all things vintage. It is my heart.💝 You're still and always will be one of my favorite people & accounts. XOXO ❤
Oh Roxie you are always so encouraging and kind to me:-) I appreciate it so very much!! Yes, they do feel more open, and I really noticed that when I was standing there prepping food. What a difference the glass fronts made!
I love the glass on the cabinets. Your home is beautifully decorated and If I visited you, I would be completely at home in your house. I know it would be so much fun listening to the stories of your home and all the pretties you have. Happy Easter. God Bless. ~ Janet 😘
Really love the glass front cupboards the best shows off all your wonderful collections and beautiful plates. Love your videos. Looking forward to more thanks for the inspiration. What a beautiful home you have God bless.🙏💕💕💕👋🇨🇦😀
Anita, everything looks amazing. I love the window treatment and of course the way you repurposed so many things. I'm sure many memories will be made in your cozy and warm kitchen.
Oh Anita, I'm new here and I must say the glass doors are exquisite for sure! It just go right along with your look in your cozy kitchen! Such a joy to meet you and look forward to getting to know more about you! Blessings ❤
Personally, I don’t mind your glass front doors. I do see what you’re saying when you compare the side by side picture- the regular doors look visually cleaner than the glass ones. BUT, if I were you, I would totally keep the glass! It makes your kitchen homey and real and I love them! 😊 Wishing you and your family a blessed Easter! ✝️
Thank you! That’s a exactly what I ended up doing☺️ I was standing there prepping food, and with the closed doors it felt closed off, so somehow the glass doors do feel more open☺️☺️☺️
I am Team Glass Doors! But , I do know how you feel. i have a black hutch with glass doors filled with my blue and white dishes and white ironstone. Sometime I feel mine looks busy too! But I love the cozy, country, homey feel. I do love mixing fabric and well as dinnerware with pattern and colors. It just feels like home. Nicely done.
It's gorgeous as always, it just makes my sould happy seeing it, I love the glass doors, wish I could do that in my kitchen, your window treatments are so beautiful 😊❤
Thank you Susan, I appreciate that so much! I just happened to have an extra set of doors that had a weird kind of glass that was opaque so I took that out and replaced it with plain glass☺️☺️
Your kitchen is perfect just as it is! Keep the glass front cabinets (my vote :). Nothing cluttered looking! Your home is gorgeous. Also, I just discovered you singing a Christmas song when I was going thru your website. You have a beautiful voice!
You have many of the same pieces I have. Last count I had thirty one blue canning jars. The candle made from the blue glass insulator was a good idea. I'll have to try that.
Thank you so much ☺️☺️ Are you referring to the one in the sink? It’s just an expandable stainless rack that I bought at least 11 years ago somewhere. I can’t remember where I got it though🤔🤔
