I would like to see a mod that allows you to actually control/drive the vehicles yourself. In my opinion that would make this game much more fun & interesting.
@@whatsmynameagain691 Yeah Mr. Squirrel has developed his map into a beautiful one. Though he must first optimize it to earn more profit and a bit of forests to make the map look cool. After that a cab ride would be appreciated so that we may have a complete view of the beautiful cities. I'd prefer this by road.
@@whatsmynameagain691 Automation and Beam.ng teamed up so you can drive around the cars you design, it's really awesome. I wish the Truck or Bus Sim guys would team up with this or Cities:Skylines to create a basic driving sim on their maps, but I'm sure the complexity of something like that would be absurd
It's slightly realistic. The 747-8 modelled (Never actually painted in DHL colours) is restricted on which airports it can use, and has a special map with designated approved taxiways at those airports. The 777-X has folding wing tips for this reason. Efficiency needs a lot of wing!
For those sticky situations where my cargo is coming in from the wrong side of town, I tend to just build a tunneled bus way under the entire city and pop out in the commercial/industrial districts where the cargo needs to get to. No emissions from underground trucking, and saves traffic through the middle of town for folks just trying to get to/from work.
Followed this series since episode 1, a perfect combination of asmr, logistical practice, and fine explanations. Long time fan here squirrel (I remember your first day z episodes lol) the best and only simulation channel in my opinion! Cheers!
Build a tunnel under the city. No emissions, no intersections, no trafic. Make sure to keep ownership on the road so the town does not upgrade your road.
I think that they should fix this exploit of distance shipping and have penalties if there are resources closer than the one we are using from far away.
If I can make a suggestion with the Bigleswade truck route, instead of running it straight through the middle of the city causing more emissions & congestion, what about coming out of the depot & going farther down the river before crossing it, then building a road in South of the city, straight to the delivery point. I don't mean to be a backseat gamer but it was just something I noticed. Take care everybody & GOD Bless!
In TTD a vehicle in a very poor condition would break down very often keeping the line jammed for a while. Always had to keep them in good condition or replace them. At the same time you usually had a better vehicle to replace it with anyway. That is why that notification triggers the bejesus outta me!
You often mention that a train line will stop a city from expanding. If you provide bridges over the rail using city streets, a city needing room to grow will spread past the tracks. Also, the truck line labelled Biggleswade Steel should be Biggleswade Machines.
I believe that when you have a parallel runway configuration, you want to land planes on the outer runway and make them take off from the inner runway. This makes it less probable of a go around when a plane is queuing for takeoff and thus is more efficient (e.g. Paris CDG airport works like this)
Indeed, the signals in the game don't work like they do in real life where it's useful for controlers to know when a train has cleared a junction. Also having signals after junctions will definitely cause hold ups later as more trains are added.
@@Borgscan Yes however in real life there would be some kind of train detection system to show where the train is, not a signal. (Eg. Track circuit, or axle counters).
It would be cool to make a really long train with multiple locomotives instead of multiple small trains in some of your lines. I don't know about efficiency, but I have trains 1km long in some of my games and it looks really cool (and realistic)
Mayhaps if the game has an ultra large map setting so things can be far away so you can use these high speed trains, you could just build a few flat tracks going a really long way and it'd be very efficient if those specific trains are as long as possible. Minimize locomotives and maximize the wagons while keeping the track level.
Man I've been watching your streams of this on squirrel plus and all the other tf2 videos I enjoy this series as you explain it more in depth and can't wait to give it a go myself when I can actually sit down and play for more then 20 mins
I know its older video but the 747 is not full in both directions thats why you dont doubled the profits :) your 757's were full on both directions plastic/goods. So maybe for new series :)
I've picked up the game after watching your series and I'm enjoying it. However one thing really pisses me off about it and that's the way train station routing is handled. I have diamonds on either side, there is a train loading stuff in the station, but another train has to wait for that thing to leave the station, instead of just going around it on the free track!? Drives me bonkers! Mashinky is doing a much better job in that regard! Oh and great job on your series of course :D! Enjoying it a lot!
My cities are roughly 30%-50% bigger than yours so my aging pc is starting to struggle(a lot), but that is because I make the changes or new lines that you do and then I watch them grow so the cities have had significantly longer to grow. Just one minor gripe is that you insist on having multiple lines sharing tracks, when starting out it's fair enough, but at this point with the bank balance being in the billions I don't see the point. Is it a habit that has set in without your noticing? Hoping my poor old pc can keep up as the series progresses, even if it can't I'll be sticking with it, lots to learn. Keep em coming.
Re: the 747 and profit. Yes you lost profit on that line but with the increased capacity and increase in town sizes you probably end up making more also....for the love of god. Dual engines on the longer routes
Mr. Squirrel...I just got xbox Series S and the deluxe Prememium MFS2020, love it, but can you articulate how we, I just forgot what I was requesting! UHG!!! Well, next time.

Can't you just train the machines to both cities instead of trucks? Just need to angle the train station a bit or accept sharp turn. Still better than trucks to two cities.
Squirrel still using 2 locomotives in their pax trains without noticing. "The cost are high but the city will grow and..." XD
42:00 Biggleswade machines, not steel

Squirrel your signalling is so frustrating! You don't need signals after junctions - lots of helpful comments on older videos.

I had a bunch of time in TF1 but this series made me buy TF2, thanks Squirrel. Keep it up. Loving it so far.
lol fk same I hate how one video series from someone who knows how to do things make me buy the game and now I have 100 hrs on this
Bought the game some time ago when a saw Squirrel's campaign mode. Urban Games should give him a cut!
i thought team fortress 2 was free?

in America yes, but the map Squirrel's playing is set in the UK. Freight trains in the UK are usually half a km long.

Lovin the series i watched 22 episodes in under 48 hours i am really addicted if this became daily id love this
Just wanted to say, love this series! I'm gonna try this map with american vehicles :)
Love the series, just a suggestion to create bridges if you can. Instead of tunnels. Just for a little diversity on the infrastructures.
Those yellow 747s look awesome!

Some of the music in this game reminds me of Two Point Hospital...
Same composer perhaps?
If you bridge/tunnel a city road over/under a rail, and then build a little grid, will the city use that and begin to build on the other side?
At 33 mins you inadvertently made what we call a Y on the railroad, it's used to change the direction a locomotive faces.
Oh, I’ve missed quite a few episodes! I’d stopped watching this series once I bought TF2 😅
Then go catch up!
Tell me why my first thought was team fortress 2 when you said TF2.

You could sometimes avoid trucks (or trains) going through residential areas by using tunnels.

Quick question. Can one put 2 engine trains pulling the same cargo boxes
The series got me to get TF2, it's my first time ever playing and you make it seem easy.
Yes, it's quite tough starting out.
Even maneuvering the camera around smoothly is tricky.

It's only from the BA fleet
You can bring plank by ship too

More TF 2 is always appreciated.
Noticed this last episode but the new intercity loop has 2 engines on it one on the front and the other on the rear.
Surely got to replace a few of those planes so there’s different airlines flying around?!
I missed this series!!
Tracks will not stop a city growing past them. I am playing the same map seed and I have 2 towns that grew past the tracks I built.
I'm pretty sure a city in this playthrough has done it too.
I just had a bad they but your video made my day so much better
You left an unused train depot next to one of the stations on the plastic train line.
