I got linked to this video because I'm in the episode of Jeopardy that you watched at the bar in Philly. ❤ I'm really enjoying your style of travelogue, engaging and inspiring! You chat with locals way more than I generally do when I travel and your experience seems richer for it.
That's neat. It's always fun when the people in the video comment on it but I wasn't expecting someone who was in a video that was shown in the video would find their way here.

Lancaster PA native here. Glad the area was so welcoming to you both! Many of my friends in the area know your channel as well. Must be big here for some reason! Unfortunately 90% of Amish folk would not have been interested in being filmed for something like this. And yes, you are correct that the Amish are primarily in Eastern Lancaster County. Though there are some touristy Amish places in a nearby town called "Intercourse" (This isn't a joke that's literally the name of the town.) Thanks for the fun content of you visiting my neck of the woods!
Lol yeah, as soon as I saw they were travelling to the middle of the City of Lancaster, I knew they'd run into trouble finding Amish people. Big difference between Lancaster City and Lancaster County (in which the city is located).
Being from Pennsylvania and knowing Tom and Greg were only 30 minutes away from home and got to experience Southern PA, this has to be the best bit of content I've ever had the pleasure of enjoying on this channel.
I think its great Tom is so happy with everyone who recognizes him as GeoWizard is so friendly and helpfull, but Tom, thats the kind of people you attract to your channel! Cheers mate, amazing content!
As a native Lancastrian, I'm proud to see how many locals knew of you and represented our city well! Really glad that it seems like Mike had lots of historical info as you drove through the area - there is SO much history in Lancaster! Sad that I was out of town while you trekked through the area and didn't bump into you myself, but it's great to see that you guys had a great time traveling through our unique area. Great episode!
It's not so much that the residents represent your city well, it's more like the film makers (content whores) didn't go out their way to seek out stereotypes that fits their stereotypical view points. As they did in West Philly.
@@drewrobinson2025 haha, well not without trying to by exploiting the Amish (honestly probably a blessing in disguise that that didn’t pan out), but touché! I’d like to think that this interaction represents the general populace of Lanc, though!
It's funny, you also have a York nearby as well! Lancaster and York: probably two of the most historic cities in England with a dynastic rivalry. I am guessing the early Pennsylvanian town namers named them that for a reason and their namesakes in Pennsylvania decided to be the centre of a historic storm too.... what a coincidence! I'd love to visit Gettysburg some day. I used to be a bit US Civil War buff.
Sounds weird but after I lost my dad I had bad nightmares. I play your videos on repeat when I'm sleeping, your perfect calming voice is out of this world. I also watch your videos the second they come out. You are amazing and I wish you the best on your next adventure, take your time cause this is GOLD
Try some ASMR, I recommend Goodnight Moon's fantasy series, super relaxing and you can totally dive into a new world, purposefully made for relaxing and sleeping haha
Jup, got to know the channel when Tom wasn´t even using a cam playing GeoGuessr. And now we are basically travelling alongside Tom and Greg through America haha.
I know you probably won't read this Tom, but I'd really like to thank you for all of your videos. You genuinely made my life significantly better and even encouraged me to go on some adventures myself, my mental health is a lot better and that's partly thanks to you. Cheers from Switzerland!
When Greg was playing Geoguesser, that was 100% Finland. I've lived there for a couple of years, like literally in the place that the sign points to, Askola. It's right next to Porvoo in Southern Finland. If the app said Estonia, it was wrong. So Tom, you were spot on.
As an American who has been watching since the first straight line mission, these videos are like crack. Y'all's tomfoolery is an inspiration, cheers from FL
Lifelong Pennsylvania resident here. Seeing cheesesteaks, Sheetz, Amish country, and the Susquehanna River brought a tear to my eye. I hope you enjoyed this beautiful state!
Literally giving a man the shirt off your back. Doesn't get more American than that. Also the back half of this video gave me so much joy. I think the experience you guys had speaks to the best of the internet's possibilities. I'm sure all the people you met would have given you a nice ear in any other circumstance but the fact that you've been able to broadcast your sense of adventure and your excitement for life around the world has been able to allow you to do things you never would have believed. I love that so much. Hope this wonderful pattern keeps happening.
Comment will probably be buried but the biggest takeaway from this personally is that I'm proud to be American again. Seeing how warmly you both were taken in was truly refreshing. Cheers.
This brought such a smile to my face as a Lancaster county resident! As soon as you listed tracking down an Amish person as a goal I knew you would be visiting my neck of the woods, and I was so happy so many people recognized you and you had an amazing time. My town (Lititz, coolest small town in America 2013) was just a 15 minute drive to the north, though I was off at university when you were filming anyway rip
Now this is a story all about how My life got flipped-turned upside down And I'd like to take a minute Just sit right there I'll tell you how I became the lord of a town called Aldrige On the north side of Brooklyn born and raised In the alley was where I spent most of my days Chillin' out maxin' relaxin' all cool And all kicking some football outside of the pub When a couple of guys who were up to no good Started making trouble in my neighborhood I got in one little fight and my mate got scared He said, "You're taking an Amtrak train to Philadelphia" I whistled for a train and when it came near The license plate said "SEPTA" and it had a sneeze in the mirror If anything, I could say that this train was hella But I thought, "Nah, forget it" - "Yo, home to Philadelphia” I pulled up to the court about 7 or 8 And I yelled to the ballers "What we want to do is try a challenge" I looked at my kingdom I was finally at em’ Playing basketball in West Philadelphia
I love how your videos focus just as much on the stories of the people you meet as your own adventures. The way you and Greg introduce us to normal people going about their lives is a sincerely beautiful thing.
I'm so thankful you were able to look past the ignorance and downright stupidity of some people, and were able to make the best of this experience. The run in you had with that thug on the side of the street is unfortunately all to common, everyone in the big cities has a massively over inflated ego, and he deserves to be shamed like he is here for continually trying to escalate a harmless situation. In the end you got a real taste of the Midwest and the charm of America venturing westward into Pennsylvania. Looking forward to the rest of the adventure, wishing I you'd one day stumble through my small ohio town.
they ran into one dude that was aggro while everyone else in the scene was tryna deescalate (and everyone else they ran into in philly was nice too). not sure how you get "everyone in the big cities has a massively over inflated ego" from that but way to generalize...
@@himani8927 my statement isn't based off of that one interaction, it's based of of my personal experiences with individuals in those places. The large majority are full of themselves, take everything personally, and too often manefests in situations like this. Mate, your editing is the unsung hero of this series. From someone who edits music into the wee hours of the morning every morning to someone who I'm sure does the same with video footage: I respect the hustle.
This has to be the greatest series I’ve seen on RUclips. I don’t understand why the view counts are average… we should recommend this to every1 we know
There are plenty of normal productive members of society in any neighborhood, including the inner city, who can defuse conflicts and act just fine. Obvious example: all the local guys in the circle who were playing football together in the first place, duh. You're correct that THAT guy couldn't, but that's not normal, that's an exception. And also more likely to be the kind of guy who turns to crime due to not really fitting in at real jobs with that behavior. Could very easily be a gangster
Dudes like this get so pressed for no reason I don't get it thinking he's so tough when in reality he'll most likely mess with the wrong person and get dropped
I can only imagine how insecure that man must be to get so upset over an accidental ball. They think they look gangster, but really it just reeks of insecurity and powerlessness. It's totally sad really, to wonder what they must have gone through to cause such defensiveness over a ball.
I have never watched a channel that has me so enthralled, I had plans tonight (nothing serious) but as soon as I got the notification of this upload I knew what I was doing. Quickest hour of my life watching this immersive content. Greg only lives up the road from me but the adventures ensuing are epic, memories that will last a life time for yourself and I am sure all the people involved in this timeline.
Tom, you and Greg have been pretty blessed on this trip so far, and a good portion of that is down to the hard work you've put into this channel over the past few years. I've no doubt that the natural charisma and goodwill that you two exude would have helped you along just fine, but having a successful (and recognizable in the unlikeliest of places) channel has really helped you out of a few jams. I've been a dedicated viewer since your first straight line mission across Wales about three years ago, and it's always a treat whenever you drop a new series where you (and whoever else happens to get dragged along) go on a weird new adventure full of excitement, hilarity, and sometimes danger. Keep up the good work, man.
I honestly think this should be renamed “How TO travel America.” As someone who lives in the US, I can say with full confidence, this is undoubtedly the best way. No other options will reward you with such hospitality and adventure.
Basketball courts play such a big role in American cities, glad you guys found a good one with cool people and it's nice that you guys gave back and brought everyone there a cool memory.
Best episode yet in the series. Upset you didn't even step foot in New Jersey. Could have at least gone down to Atlantic City for some authentic Ulaanbaatar architecture.
This series is honestly the best! Already managing to show very different sides and cultures of America! Really hope you'll be able to do more travel series like this in the future, you guys always manage to find such cool and interesting people! Would be cool with one of these series in other parts of the US(Like the west coast etc.)
Tom I know this video is a while up and this comment will most likely get lost in a sea of comments but on the off chance you do spot this, your videos do genuinely bring me so much joy. I don't often write wishy washy profound poems of dreary affection on RUclips in the style other people do but man your videos just hit a spot. The chill vibe, quality of content and quality of heart from you and your friends and of course the joy of adventure, it all comes together in a format which is just lovely. So bless you man, cheers for providing free internet gold and if you're ever in south Wales or Devon there's another fan who'd love to help you out. Also Aldridge is a home from home for me as my Dad grew up there. It blew my mind that, that is home for you cuz I haven't met anyone from there!
In the West-midlands area, he was born and raised, doing weird adventures was how he spent most of his days. Chillin' out, maxin', relaxin', all reet, And all kickin' some football nearby the street, When a couple of guys who were up to no good Started making trouble in the americans neibourhood Nearly got into a fight and Greg got scared, He said, "Mind if I just say I don't think there is any need for that right now" "Can I shake your hand"
His buddy having to hold him back like he was a child that couldn’t handle his emotions was all we needed to know. Hotheaded dude! Glad it didn’t escalate into anything else. But on the other hand, y’all probably shouldnt be kicking that ball that close to a busy street 😂 That just seems like a recipe for danger. Great video tho man!
You know hes insecure when he thinks everything is someone “fuckin with” him, as if he has “opps” on the street that see his car drive past and go “look its that mf Jamal, kick the ball at his car” its pretty ridiculous honestly
These videos just never cease to entertain. I was in Philly a few months ago whilst travelling the East coast, and it really does have an unrivalled atmosphere. P.S. Ginos looked great, but Pat’s has my heart. For all the brits, the food rivalry is Phillys equivalent to ‘salt and vinegar or cheese and onion’, if you will.
Hi! At 31:59 where Greg plays GeoGuessr it actually is Finland and not Estonia! (Askola 4km and Pukkila 12km on the sign) I am also a geoguessr player, i made a map named Amazing dragons, if interested check it out! All the best!
Great to see you guys had a positive experience in the Lancaster area, even if you didn't get to meet any Amish. The rural areas east of Lancaster city are definitely more "Amish country", but they're scattered all over. Depending on the day and time, hitting one of the farmers markets in the area would've been a surefire way to check that box.
I can't stop watching you since Straight Line Missions😀 But this journey is the funniest, incredible and catchy! Continue making such a wothy contect! Love You🤗
I hate how quickly people turn on RUclipsrs in the comments. They don't give a crap about the wellbeing of the person making the content they just want content constantly. After years of uploads they have a slight delay and people lose their minds. Kinda annoys me. You think he's not frustrated too?
Meh. Thats what you get doing these kind of things. People are gonna love you, people are gonna hate you. You could be cleaning sewers all day from 7 to 5, or be a youtuber. All jobs has some shits to it. All you gotta do is keep the schedule going. There are after all people who donate and without us Tom wouldnt be able to do any of it. So I think its pretty fair. Sure some words are a bit harsh but the frustration isnt that weird.
I grew up taking the train into Philly from Malvern, PA, so I have a bunch of friends out in Overbrook. So odd to see Tom on the trains I take almost twice a month. I love Lancaster too since i’m closer to there than philly, but i only ever drive in
I go to school in Elizabethtown PA, about 15 minutes west of Lancaster. I’ve been a fan of this channel for a while, so watching you explore the area I go to school in might be one of the coolest things I’ll see on RUclips.
Isn't the worst part that we're all living vicariously through Tom and Greg and tomorrow we all go back to the drudgery of our lives and not have any adventures?
As someone from Lancaster, I was really hoping that you would by some chance give the area a visit, and you delivered! I wish you would’ve been able to stay for longer because it really is a very cool city, but it seems like you got some great experiences and met some great people out of it. So thanks for this. It made me feel proud to be from Lancaster.
Loved this episode. Gave me very strong How Not To Travel Europe vibes. Everyone was just brilliant. Yes, even the guys who almost kicked your ass (or got their asses kicked by you).
Huh. Jeopardy is so huge over here that I never even considered that someone from the UK wouldn't have heard of it. And the after-hours bar scene...that stuff happens at closing time pretty much everywhere, in every part of the country. Specifics vary, but the theme is the same. "You committed some minor offense, and now I must kick your ass for it!" Heh.
I realize it is a far way off, but ... if you, Tom and Greg, ever get the itch to make a trip to Alaska, please know that I'd be happy to do what I can to facilitate a great time for you two. Fishing up here is a great gig but anything, here in the Last Frontier, is adventurous, full of excitement and risk! Keep the content coming! Well done, mates.
This might be the most random thing I’ve ever watched, weird how I was so involved in my head to see you guys have success in an ever changing random world 😊
Such a different pace to the straight line missions, and I think this all the type of adventure we'd love to go on. Having a planned start and end but leaving the middle to figure itself out. It would be easy to say "you have to take strangers help not subscribers" but that was the hand you were dealt and I think as subscribers ourselves we'd have love to have been part of the journey and help achieve the mission set out!
The best part about this is how you show clips from the intro to Fresh Prince of Bel Air where his ball accidentally interrupts some street toughs and you had exactly the same experience just a couple nights previous.

Unfortunately 90% of Amish folk would not have been interested in being filmed for something like this. And yes, you are correct that the Amish are primarily in Eastern Lancaster County. Though there are some touristy Amish places in a nearby town called "Intercourse" (This isn't a joke that's literally the name of the town.)

As a native Lancastrian, I'm proud to see how many locals knew of you and represented our city well!

But still some common threads like wonderful people wherever you go. There is hope for us all yet.

@@leob4403 exactly, he was quite clearly actively trying to escalate the situation
Exactly. Glad he didn't frame all of philly by just that guy. Just like the Jerk from NY. One bad person doesn't represent the whole of the people.
The adventure you two have is something else. It was very sweet of your subscribers to go out of their way and help you.
Dudes like this get so pressed for no reason I don't get it thinking he's so tough when in reality he'll most likely mess with the wrong person and get dropped
