I used to know the Countess of Sandwich quite well. She always introduced herself as Mrs. Caroline Montagu. I knew that her husband was John and I only discovered who she really is when i was reading a book about the British aristocracy in the 19th century, which mentioned John Montagu. She is very modest, supremely intelligent and utterly charming. I am very fortunate to have known her,
Luke please pass on to your parents what a treasure they are to history of Mapperton. A wonderful history lesson and lots of levity from your Mother. I could have watched their commentary of history all day. Amazing what a great memory they both have of the details of the family history as well as the architecture of the Manor.❤️
The Earl is a real National Treasure 🙌 The Countess is as well and they are just filled with the history of the Montagu family. So amazing! God bless them both 🙏
It was absolutely wonderful of the Earl and Countess of Sandwich themselves to take so much of their time to present to us, the public, their beautiful, historic home. They know the history of every building and the contents thereof and were kind to give us a "cook's tour," explaining in detail what is placed where and why it is there. Their graciousness warms the heart.
I just adore these two - they are so endearing and they are like walking history books filled with information on the hundreds of years of the family history. Their interaction with each other is just so much fun to watch - what a pair! So refreshing to see a marriage of so many years in such a good state!! ❤️
My goodness, my heartfelt thanks to the Earl and Countess for sharing some of their fascinating knowledge and history, and for showing us and talking about a few of the wonderful family pieces and collections. I REALLY enjoyed this special edition!!!
Luke, how wonderful to hear your mom and dad talk about the house they've loved so much over the years. And how sweet they are voicing their disagreements and different points of view. A fine marriage. Also, "sleep tight" is a revelation to me! Never considered it. It was an epiphany. Thank you. What a fine son and daughter-in-law you both are taking on this massive responsibility with Julie. I hope one or more of your children will love history well enough to take it on when the time comes. Cheers.
Absolutely! He looks just like his father but with his mother's blonde hair. This episode is one of my favorites and provided a fascinating history lesson from the Earl and Countess of Sandwich.
Lovely to see the Earl and Countess again, and be given an intriguing look into the history of Mapperton, even though the Earl declared they knew, "very little about the early history of Mapperton". They are a fount of knowledge, and make it so interesting. Love their sense of humour, and loving relationship. Thank you for this.🌹
What a treat to see The Earl and Countess Of Sandwich (your father and mother in law) I could listen to them all day. I would love to see a lot more of them, their knowledge and memories are so precious and must be saved for posterity. Please thank them for sharing their stories with us. ❤️
How Charming they were in the spontaneous way this video developed. Absolutely wonderful of them to save it as an archive of the manor and of their lovely and very knowledgeable selves.
Thank you for having them record this video. Having them preserved on film is so brilliant, but also all the stories and details about the collection in Mapperton. Their knowledge is incredible.

How wonderful to have your mother and father record this astounding family history and share their comments on the priceless treasures at Mapperton. Thank you!
It's time to gift this couple with a make over and spa treatment to lift them up. They have focused too much on the property and not themselves. They deserve some personal attention. It could perk them up and re- energize them both. And thank them for all their hard work over the years preserving such a home.

Love the history of the house! And the ginger cat walking in and out of the shot was so adorable.
