I love this episode!! I’m with Julie.. the goblet documents are fantastic ! I find them fascinating!! I love how Julie jumps from thing to thing.. lolol.. I absolutely love it!
I find it weird and sad how people dont seem to value solid old wooden furniture anymore. Most of mine has been bought second hand for very low prices. They dont break,or wear out. The drawers dont unscrew themselves or bottom out. Its for life, good solid stuff, and gets a lovely polish to it.
I have to say, our adult children, when they move out on their own, are excellent recipients of all the flotsam and jetsam that we've collected over the years and no longer need, lol!! I've noticed that Luke's mom tries to make Luke the recipient of many family heirlooms as well 😉
I absolutely love all those vintage laces. I have made a small curtain for my toilet area covered with old doilies, beads and laces found on old garments etc. As for all that furniture, I would be in recycle, restoration heaven. I would have to be reminded that there's dinner on the table. I would not get rid of anything while restoration is going on and all boxes were throughly investigated. I really love how you Julie, are putting together the lives of this family so to speak. You are a prize asset for mapperton. ❤
I'm sure I saw this episode before and commented on the glasses. They are lovely. I love seeing Luke with her; they are so cute and funny. Congrats on your new position, they definitely chose the right person. Although I enjoy watching reruns I will be waiting on your new shows . Keep up the great work, your enthusiasm is contagious! Tina
Those gorgeous lace pieces would look lovely framed as a lace sampler. A lace expert would be able to tell you the patterns, thread type and era they are from for historical reference. The little patterned squares were used to stitch into various items as a feature. You could buy those in haberdashery and dress fabrics and sew them into a handkerchief, into garments, bed linen, tablecloths and napkins or runners as edge embellishment etc. The shape and size would show what it was likely intended for, what kind of textile and it would probably depend upon what was fashionable at the time and what fabric the pieces were made out of eg: cotton, linen. You could hold the most wonderful textile exhibition with all these wonderful finds.
Thanks to you all for a truly enjoyable combination of great finds. I love it all. I am constansurprised to see glimpses of Hinchingbrook school with all its family history still in place and the good condition of all the furniture. Well done to the school. What I especially love is the family's excitement when something is discovered. Love to here Julie's " looking, oh my gosh" out bursts! One small 2 bedroom cottage is enough for me on a suburban block with maybe a couple of suitcases full of family memories!! The oldest of which go back no more than 150 years!
The banter between Luke and Julie in the first 12 minutes alone... is hilarious! I love the Mexican hats! At about 48 minutes in ... going through the drawers, that looks like fun!
Excellent job researching and pulling things together by century and the family tree. Also great job in cleaning old centuries dust mites, dander, soil, muck from humidity and weather itself. Do not get sick with germs and bacteria that may come about in the air. Stay healthy and well using logic and great care. All the best for 2025.
I am thinking that the "napkins" might be hankies. What fun, I loved digging through my Grandmother's old things as well. 1st Earl Sandwich was my 1st cousin because his mother, Paulina was my 11th Great Aunt.
Julie - the little squares of fabric when you were going through the lace and ribbons. The little squares or patches at time stamp 1:49:50 looks like Hardanger.
I dont know why the King hasn’t come to your support! His very presence brings attraction to your cause. Have you invited him to your gardens! He supports that kind of thing.
I just want to listen and watch you. Amazing to see that passion of love for antiques and restoration. I wish me and my husband will be able to travel and see your projects. I am an enthusiast. More power to u!
I would wrap ironed ribbons and lace around archive piece of card. That would keep them straight and preserved. I know they do that in shops. Please hand wash and don’t rub the lace together. Just squeeze it gently by hand in soapy water. Lay a towel on the floor, straighten the lace by hand and leave to partially dry. Leave a little bit of dampness in the lace and press fully dry. I have done this all my life and my mother before me. I still wash my dresses like this and they never wear out.
The mask would look great on the wall above you oven! And FYI Julie, when you store framed artwork, they should be standing up, front to front, and back to back to protect them. Congrats on getting the 1st Earl back!
The long pieces of mystery lace were tucked in to cover the neck & bosom, like a scarf worn low. The bits were saved for another incarnation. The wired piece is a hat that could be embellished.
My great grandma used to pick apart pieces of dresses that were old but the lace was still good and use the pieces on a quilt or another dress, Some of those wire one are probably parts of bonnets that were picked apart also but never used again, one of those is a fichu for older women to wear over their shoulders and tuck in the bodice of their dress if it was too revealing. The shorter veil might have been for a child to wear to church or married ladies used them as "caps". U could use the lace for pillow covers for old pillows, quilts, throws.
This is so great finding these gems . Especially getting things back to Mapperton. Hope there is more gems found to share. Love it. I hope you can get even more grants!
I have to giggle when I see Julie get excited about the history and Luke just wanders off! Do you think the 1626 portrait might have been badly overpainted at one stage? We watch Bloomfield Art Restoration on RUclips and the stiff or static quality of a painting often occurs because the original intent of the artist is hidden. Just a thought! Also I have the same Victorian sewing box (in Tasmania) but the insides are gone. Lovely to see what mine originally looked like! 🌸😊
❤yes work together two great minds xx love from a 75yr old scouse great grandmother living in Perth Western Australia with all my immediate family x ❤❤
I didn't get a good enough look at the card table, but some are quite rare and valuable, and should be checked out. My grand parents collected a lot of antique furniture, much of it from the 17th and 18th century's. I went to many auction and estate sales, and my grandpa restored the item's properly. I sure miss them, part of the wwll era, and great depression. G-d bless.
Great vlog so so interesting..:: i would love a week going through all the drawers …. Love lukes mum what a lovely lady ❤ great auction finds thanks for sharing ❤
A Baron who worked 45 years in England before i came back to restore my home . Cannot understand these two as lovely as they seem its not a life on any production .Higher rank than me too
We love watching the Bumgarner channel to see all the painting restorations. Perhaps he could make suggestions for some of your most challenging pieces.
Hey Julie excited for you recovering a precious piece of your family’s history..just wanted to point out wear you won’t to hang the painting..it looks like there was water damage at some point. Be careful make certain that the painting is going to hang that it will be safe from water leaking from above. Excited to see the room finished.
Julie, on the pieces of lace, you asked about the very small squares and what they might have been used for? Many years ago my great aunt passed and back as a young girl in the early 20s she and my grandmother would do needlework, crochet and tatting. I found many of those squares and I often wondered if it was just her practicing and learning how to stitch, with no real purpose. Just thought I’d suggest that for those small squares. I also wanted to comment on the beautiful mantle with the crest over your fireplace in the living room with the blue sofa. The green accent colors on the stonework are so beautiful!
Well I haven’t seen this video, as I have only been following Mapperton for a short while. Soooo, even tho it may be an old video renamed, I would really appreciate a video on the rooms that have been restored with the purchases and the auction items. Hopefully you will continue to find more items belonging to the family.
So wanted to suggest a humidity bag for your chest with the lace and textiles. In old buildings mildew? I live in NW US, and it’s wet in weather. Ideas are to ask your mother in law about them, and have them framed for bedrooms or bathroom? Guest rooms, your wonderful, I am redoing , updating my worthless home but your work is inspiring.
Stephanie, get yourself some skechers. They are amazingly comfy and actually look great with a dress and sports wear. Colour white of course. Im 61 and got my first trainers this summer because of planter fasciitis and omg I am living in them they are so comfy.
I’m excited for you , how wonderful for you both and for Mapperton. I love to set a beautiful table with all the same collection of dishes. I’m surprised they went to auction, how did they get to Canada . There must be a really good storey behind it.
this reminds me so much of my ancestral home and my findings in there....loads of textiles and lace things, etc etc....I have small box with some of them....nobody is interested
Julie is amazing, keeping all the family history together. What a champion.❤
It’s funny how Julie is more interested in Luke’s family than he is. I love that.❤
Well, he’s generally a laid back fellow all around.
Well he grew up with with it all and it's like wallpaper to him. To Julie it's all new and interesting.
He grew up with it,not unusual
I’d be geeking out too!! 400 year old stories are Lukes entire life
and more with his family than with him?
I love this episode!! I’m with Julie.. the goblet documents are fantastic ! I find them fascinating!! I love how Julie jumps from thing to thing.. lolol.. I absolutely love it!
Glad you like them!
You all are too cute together.............just funny. Love going through the rooms and drawers with you all.
Julie is like me. I get so excited when I find information on my Ancestors 😊
I love when Luke gets involved and he talks about stuff we need more Luke
I am so thankful you won the auction! What a blessing!!!
I could watch you go through clothes and fabrics for hours!! i love it all, thank you for sharing it with us 😊
So glad you guys won the Auction!
Love the 2 of you together a natural comedy team & we get educated too.
(Your chemistry together is so obvious ❤)

Wow the poor little boy in the painting who died looks so much like the present day man of the house
I have to say, our adult children, when they move out on their own, are excellent recipients of all the flotsam and jetsam that we've collected over the years and no longer need, lol!! I've noticed that Luke's mom tries to make Luke the recipient of many family heirlooms as well 😉

I love and appreciate the excitement over the glasses! So good!
Who knew?! Drawing room=withdraw room; I love the information and the history.
Thank you.
You two are too funny 😂. I’ve really enjoyed touring your place with you.
I'm sure I saw this episode before and commented on the glasses. They are lovely.
I love seeing Luke with her; they are so cute and funny.

On Weds. we put out archived compilations and Spilling the Tea at the Manor. xx Julie
I love your zeal for 2nd hand. It’s how I’ve found my best bits. 🥰
Love Mom on the pictures so I vote for doing the picture video.

Congratulations Luke and Julie! It's almost like receiving a Christmas present 🎁 ! Enjoy your new find and additional family heirloom!
Thanks to you all for a truly enjoyable combination of great finds. I love it all.

Married life it’s not much different for most of us. I like how we get to see the realness of their life it’s not all posh and overedited
I just enjoy the back and forth so much! You guys are adorable!

As a genealogist it makes my heart so happy your preserving this family’s history
I am thinking that the "napkins" might be hankies. What fun, I loved digging through my Grandmother's old things as well. 1st Earl Sandwich was my 1st cousin because his mother, Paulina was my 11th Great Aunt.
Yay Canada! You two are an adorable couple!

Hahaha! Pretty sure he’s been dealt with!
Thanks for sharing your journey - It makes so many of us so happy
Wonderful, you have a portrait of the first Earl of Sandwich!!!
I just want to listen and watch you. Amazing to see that passion of love for antiques and restoration. I wish me and my husband will be able to travel and see your projects. I am an enthusiast. More power to u!
So happy for your family Luke and Julie!!!😊❤❤❤❤❤❤
I love how Julie and Luke banter back and forth. They are so cute and I absolutely love watching because there's so much history.
I think Julie is so rude to Luke. I don’t know how he can stand her neuroticism and obnoxiousness
Love all the women who married into the Montagus more enthusiastic than then inheritors of the name!
The painting is simply magnificent. Brava, brava!
Well done ❤
Thank you so much 😀
Love to hear further episodes of the pictures ... with Luke's Mom providing further valuable input!

That furniture is absolutely gorgeous.
The long pieces of mystery lace were tucked in to cover the neck & bosom, like a scarf worn low. The bits were saved for another incarnation. The wired piece is a hat that could be embellished.
Love you guys and I hope to see more of you place and family you could do your place everyday and I would watch it.

Julie you are doing a brilliant job of enhancing the history and interest of Mapperton! ❤❤❤
Julie I am with you and I would have love to hear more of the history. So interesting!!!
Absolutely, You can always fast forward. I was bummed they didn't record it.

This is so interesting. I Love hearing, about English History... know matter how small.
Love you guys ❤thanks for another great episode 🙏
I love your enthusiasm and positive personality. The history of your home is so interesting.

It amazes me how you take a small car to pick up huge pieces of furniture 😅😅😅. You two are delightful 😂😂😂
The beautiful little pieces you thought were coasters look like a young girls needlework samples.
Always enjoy these videos!
Great finds julie.love to you both, Luke and Julie ❤
Loved this mix of historical finds!
Very exciting!!
An episode with the Countess of Sandwish would be fantastic 😊
A Baron who worked 45 years in England before i came back to restore my home . Cannot understand these two as lovely as they seem its not a life on any production .Higher rank than me too

Brava Bravo Julie and Luke!! 🎉
Fabulous turn events... and not without huge work, effort and funds! Big congrats to all! G Ire
I remember that famous actress - i seem to remember she was a close friend of Margaret Rutherford the original Miss Marple
Always loved those wine glasses and everyone needs a Chris. Julie you are a gem at Auctions.
So uplifting
Yes, .I have seen this
I'm my family/town historian so love seeing old pictures 🖼
Wish I was on the hunt with you guys!

Time to start a Montagu ephemera archive.

Hello cousin Chris!
-from an Atkins in America. 👋
Congratulations in acquiring the new acquisitions. Canada 🇨🇦 came through!

Watch your enthusiasm Julie!
I am so happy for you! How awesome is that, you now have the full set of 12?
Who thought that by watching the Housewives that I would fall in love with Julie and her enthusiasm for all things history. Luc married well. ❤❤❤
I wish I had an outhouse full of things like that!
I would spend hours looking round that auction room!
Some of those lace pieces could be donated in exchange for repairs to clothing reproduction education.
Stephanie, get yourself some skechers. They are amazingly comfy and actually look great with a dress and sports wear. Colour white of course. Im 61 and got my first trainers this summer because of planter fasciitis and omg I am living in them they are so comfy.

❤❤❤❤You should have kept all your Aunts furniture. Great pieces 😮
This reminded me you should do another just open random drawer video.
this reminds me so much of my ancestral home and my findings in there....loads of textiles and lace things, etc etc....I have small box with some of them....nobody is interested
I’m thinking the lace is bits and pieces saved from worn out garments to be used when making new garments. 🤷♀️🌷🇺🇸
Love the hair Julie
I'm looking at the tapestry behind them 🎉😂❤
Hardanger is a type of embroidery.
Thumbs up Julie I buy everything vintage or second hand - last time in Italy needed trousers second hand 5 euros full price 200 euros on sale!
This is all great, but if this place is to small, then it smart,!
I would love a series on on all the pictures
