I agree. Sadly I tend to hit trees at least 3 times per round and many balls are rendered unusable quickly. I hate paying so much for Pro Vs but they are amazingly durable.
Pro V1s are certainly durable in that respect. I can get 10 for £1 in a local charity shop, I'm sure they're still in good condition when I "donate" them back.

So, I just played 18 holes with the PXG balls in a 40 degrees north east weather. So I am a senior player with a swing speed of less than 80 mph. I am posting this because my results are great, especially the short game spin. Overall, the driver and hyprid were very similar but the short game spin was noticable better with PXG. I really liked the extreme white color and the extra spin on my short irons. Again, I am a senior golfer so everyone is different, but for me this is in my bag. You (and others) should do a blind test with the top 4-5 balls in the market and see which one you prefer and what you think they are. Then we can really start to see opinions and preferences sans logos

How in the world can people see this as a good review!? Honest maybe, but fatally flawed in all other respects. Utter BS really! Sound test - one sited. Why not make some putts with ProV1 for comparison. It would have been easy to do, true? Then chipping, same story, no comparison. I was not even sure what he was testing. What was good or not so good. And we go on... next up bunker, yes we can see some marks on the PXG ball after ten shots. But hey! You guessed it... no comparison. Over to the seven and six iron joke; the honest reviewer made sure that his message (there is something wrong with this ball) came across loud and clear. And as per usual no comparison. Finally the big stick is out and, lo and behold now we got a comparison. Humpf.. still the honest reviewer approach is strange: Why not interlace the hits (between PV1 and PXG). And why not use unbiased technology (to at least assist with) for spin numbers etc. If the review is honest then forgive him; for he doesn't know what he is doing. I'm a Pro V1 guy (I have not tested the PXG XTREME ball).
Would be really useful to do a side by side comparison of the balls like when you were hitting the drives. Comparing the sound for instance of the two balls would be useful (not many can remember the sound of a prov1). When chipping, seeing you hit a pro v1 to demonstrate the spin would be useful as well. Love the content ❤
Weird thing is I heard the awful sound on the putter right away. And then when Rick was driving the first time, I was like EFFF that really IS a disgusting sound for a golf ball just to realise that those horrible sounds of the drives were with a prov... but the the PXG was equally as horrendous and I realised that it was the G425
Rick, Never does that. There have been people commenting on Ricks videos since the start. Begging him try out the balls side by side on the same day, under the same conditions... That's not what Rick does. Rick makes some great content and I've enjoyed so many of his videos. I consider myself a fan. But his ball reviews are always useless.
Interesting. Not many reviews out there yet but everything else I've seen so far has been very positive. Independent robot testing has been quite favorable as well. Just got my hands on a dozen and am eager to see how they perform for me out in the wild. Of course, not everyone loves the way every ball feels amongst all the top offerings. It's pretty subjective just like any other piece of equipment, so we shall see. Always appreciate Rick's honesty and always respect his opinions.
I’ve been gaming the PXG Xtreme for a couple months now and personally, I love it. I have had little to no durability issues and can often get through a round with minimal scuff marks. For comparable performance between the Pro V1 and Pro V1x at a fraction of the cost, I feel like I am getting a whole lot more value with the PXG Xtreme. Happy to recommend it.
My problem with this review is the spin. Iv watched 7 other people review this ball on RUclips ( with a GC Qaud) and they all bar none say this ball spins more than a pro v 1. Rick no launch monitor says it doesn’t spin very much. 😂
Every other test, including robots says the opposite. Sad day to see Rick shields so intentionally bias. You can see in his numbers he didn't hit the pxg out of the center of the face. Not the balls fault
I bought a dozen and played 3 rounds with the same ball. Durability was really good and off the tee I hit more fairways than with my prov1x. My buddy was not happy I was out driving him off the tee and more consistent. He plays the prov1. For $37 USA very good price vs $54 for prov1. Try it if you like it great if not that’s ok too.
Rick (6:16): they’re pretty scuffed up. Might not feel comfortable playing them for more than two or three holes. Me: I’m glad to keep the same golf ball for two or three holes 😂
I've played 3 rounds with the PXG ball and it performed just fine. Also didn't have the scuff issues. Greenside with my 60 wedge, got plenty of spin so much so it spun more than a Pro V1x when I tried them side by side. Where I didn't like the PXG ball as well was off the irons. Seemed to spin a bit more and cost a bit of distance, about 1/2 a club. Sound for me wasn't bad off clubs or putter and that may be due to the clubs I use and putter I use. I would say, at this point, the PXG ball is more comparable to a 3 piece mid-price urethane ball and just under where the Tour balls are but it is still a solid performer for the price (I can get them for 35 per dozen) and for most amateur players it will work well.
Love the reviews. Only question would be if you are comparing to ProV1, why don't you take alternating shots with some of those so we can get a real time comparison? Thanks for the honest reviews
@@roberth1284 Rick knows what he likes & golf is so mental. His driver test is meaningless. PXG's data is robot testing & it's clear that they targeted the ball to be a tweener between the Pro V1 and Pro V1x. It appears that's exactly what it is. The durability looks to be iffy but I've found the same with TM & Callaway. Titleist durability is unmatched in the industry. Rick must really hate the Pro V1x too because that ball is very hard off the putter.
Rick doesn't do that. He never tests a ball side by side vs the PROV1. Watch any of his ball reviews. They are all the same. "Ball is too clicky" ... "ProV1 is better."
I really would have liked to see some control shot on the chips onto the green to see how the Pro V1 stopping looked in the same conditions to the PXG. Otherwise, very informative.
I bought a dozen of the PXG Extreme balls after getting fitted for PXG irons. Of course, that was the ball used during the fitting. I have used one in the simulator at my local golf club. My buddy and I played 18 holes and both hit the same ball. No noticible wear or damage on the ball at all. I will be interested trying on the course once all the snow melts in Minnesota.
Wonderful ball. Got mine Friday and played Saturday. Wet conditions and 65°. Steady ball flight and just as long as pro V1 and z star diamond. Great spin on the green. Putting alignment is amazing. Will buy again!!!
Very good review, thanks! What I believe would be good if it was tested how the ProV1 would have spun on the greens in comparison to the PXG ball - I think performance is very dependent on the conditions during day this was filmed. And also, the photo of the ProV1 was of the new model and Rick tested the old one. This, however, makes sense as I am certain that PXG were comparing themselves to the old model.
Received my PXG balls yesterday. I took them and a PRO V1x to the practice green and putted it. I cannot agree with your assessment that the PXG ball is clickier/harder feeling or sounding than the pro v1x. They were almost exactly the same feel off a David Edel putter. Admittedly the EDEL putter is extraordinarily soft. Nonetheless, there was no difference in feel between PXG and PRO V1x. Rick, you may be a bit biased. I’ve played Pro V1x since it came out.
Hi Rick. I did exactly the same test and i am a PXG nutcase. I will NOT be changing from my ProV1. Played a round at Frinton-On-Sea in the wind. ProV1 had more control, more stopping power and longer off the T. The biggest difference was putting. PXG was clicky and certainly not soft. I gave the 11 remaining balls away to a junior.
Appreciate the honest review but does anyone else think he needs to test the Pro v1 again? Seems like he's built it up into something mythical and wonder if it had another logo if he'd be as impressed with it.
Rick have you ever thought of doing a blind test of golf balls? Someone else places the ball on the tee. Top and back to make your own mark so you cant see logo or marking made by the manufacture. Then you hit 10 balls and see which one you like the feel of and which one goes further. I have done this and you might be surprised by what the blind test shows. I have never played anything PXG, haven't seen them yet in my club house or Dicks sporting goods.
Hilarious, every Damn golf ball I've played makes a different sound off my putter. PROV sounds loud with me. I guess you play those silent golf balls. Lol. Yeah Right. I haven't played the PXG yet, but, a microphone can add sound.
@@demsareunamerican6800 I have played Titleist Tour Soft for years. To me, performs every bit as good as Pro V, but only $35/dozen. I also have a stash of about 5 dozen “found” Pro V’s if I choose to play them. 😁
@@dirkgibbens377 I've played the Titleist tour soft, and it wasn't good for me. I've played every premium ball, ProV is over hyped, as everything Titleist. That's my opinion, Titleist doesn't care about their customers period, they are so expensive on everything they make. They cater to the PGA period. Then charge the customers more.
Interesting review and one that I regard highly as I do with all your product testing. What I do find confusing is that Matt Fryer when testing the same ball found the spin more than adequate and the distance achieved with the driver was 7-10 yards longer than you managed.
Hi Rick, love your reviews, but one thing I would really find useful is if you brought a couple of PROv1s out with you to hit for the chips and wedge shots, I would love to see the difference in a spin at the moment you're talking about them.
I, and others watching this video, would completely agree with you. I’d like to see shot by shot comparison as well. I also would’ve like to see how a robot would’ve hit them, just to take the human irregularities out of the equation. I knew 100% Rick would overwhelmingly side with ProV1(X), didn’t really need a video on it, but love Rick’s videos and Podcasts.
I like following Rick Shiels. But on this post we agree to disagree. On a trip to Myrtle Beach a friend of mine gave me a sleeve of PXG golf balls. I normally play titleist Pro V1. I am 60 year old golfer. The PXG golf balls delivered EVERYTHING I look for in a golf ball. The PXG golf ball is now in my bag. Spin, distance, feel was as good if not better than the Pro V1s. And $15 a dozen cheaper.
MyGolfSpy did some research on the PXG ball and found it to be made at the same factory as the Kirkland ball. It also has the same dimple pattern and same type of cover, but with a different inside. Basically, many believe it's just a Kirkland ball with a firmer core and a better paint job. Also, it's $39.99 in the US, so a good $10-$15 lower than most of the premium balls.
Thanks for the review Rick. I personally do not care for the sound or the feel of the Pro V1. I have tried many golf balls and so far, the Vice Pro Plus feel, sound, performance and price have won me over. My last go around of testing a new ball was the Wilson Staff...again the feel on the putting green was not the same. A friend of mine is a dye hard PXG fan, hopefully he will make the purchase for me to give this one a try and see how it does. Cheers and thx for the review.
There is a good review done by club champion comparing the PXG ball with the Titleist Pro V1X, came out almost even. I think it's hard for these testers to not show their favorites in these tests, if the ball logo was not shown I think the results could be different.
I'd advise others to actually try them and take this review with a pinch of salt. I've been using them a week or so now, both on the sim and on course, they are up there with the pro v1 and tp5 from my experience. Personally I was getting more spin and a little more ball speed (I've also seen similar from other channels)
Followers of RUclips channels are weirdly cultish. Sycophantic comments and blind agreement - I think they just want likes or a reply from Rick. Like you say, try them for yourself...
Great review as always. But I just wish Rick would have drove the PXG first rather than a load of pro V1’s so he was more “fresh” and less fatigued when hitting the PXG so it really gives it a fair comparison test. Unless this was just the editing and there was decent time past between the two driving sessions
Always great content, but would have loved to see you hit golf balls from the other brand(s) in straight comparison to spin, sound and so forth, besides the driving test
@@msalvs to be completely transparent, I do strike the ball better when using the PV1, but I believe this is mostly because I don’t want to lose an expensive ball, so I take more time to set up and visualize my shots. It’s similar to playing a course with a lot of water, splashing about on the front nine and on the back, with one ball remaining, the set up and care factor elevates a bit so a guy doesn’t have to quit on hole 16. Good times-love the humor and concur with your thoughts concerning my actual rate of improvement given one ball or another. I am in this for fun-I only count birdies, so I rarely have to write anything down🤣😂! If I played like Rick-I’d be hitting the PV1 for the extra yards and spin👍
Prov1 are the best balls but due not playing much through work I've started using the srixon zstar 💎 balls and seem tbh work for me as good as a prov1 👌👌
It’s great to see you back doing reviews Rick. I missed these. I really appreciate that you are so honest and not bonded to any club/ball manufacturer.
Odd that your review seems to contradict everyone else. Maybe the ball feels hard, doesn't seem to spin as much, and sounds clicky because it's frozen? How about a test in a controlled environment? Guessing the ball will feel softer and perform better. Also seeing spin numbers on wedges and irons would be nice. Seems the only data you shared (that wasn't of your own opinion) was driver distance on what looks to be a very old day.
And as an interesting coincidence, I just went through the PXG fitting for a driver fitting. At the sale price of the drivers I put in a Velocore shaft for the same price of the other drivers with a stock shaft. But the interesting thing is, for my first fitting, the they fitted using the prov1 made for trackman and on my 2nd fitting they started using the pxg ball. My ball speed was way down (4-6 mph) when using the pxg ball.
Once again you have done a wonderful, comprehensive review. Thanks! I go back and forth between pv1/pv1x and tp5/tp5x You may have already done that comparison between the 4. Do you have a chart of the result or a link to that video? Thanks so much for your time!
Thanks for the review of the PXG golf ball. Don't sound like a golf ball to change to for myself. I guess it is what we all feel comfortable with on a daily basis. Now if I should find one or two of these along the fence lines or someone loses this ball in the high rough, I will give them a whack. But for right now, I will stick with my current golf ball. Thanks again and take care.
So odd how other people are having much better results with these balls. I haven't seen anyone with 10y difference and less ball speed with more spin. Looks like he just hit the center of the face more with the pv1. Like Rick but this test doesn't line up with others results. He seems to have it out for pxg. Maybe they don't give him free clubs to test?
Thanks for the review! Really love the content of the channel ❤️. However (in Rick's favourite phrasing 😀), specifically for ball reviews, I get this uncomfortable feeling that too many variables are in play and that a blind test, with many more strikes and preferably with randomized ball presentation, would be much more meaningful? Alternatively, a relatively simple club swinging device could also do the trick...
It's been done, and the PXG ball beat or was equal to all the big boys. Check out the MyGolfSpy radio podcast, and the Mr. Short Game robot lab test. You may find the results enlightening.
PXG really comes off as the "Tapout" of the golf world. Funny you mention hitting an AD333, i had the displeasure of hitting them last week, literally like hitting bricks. The TP5 i was using before that was genuinely chalk v cheese.
@@80wall yes really, it was genuinely like hitting a rock with the driver. I typically use the Q Star which is fine, but to go from the TP5 to the AD333 when testing a new driver it was genuinely a mammoth difference.
I think the driver test should be blind, allow camera man to set up at random. Could be a mental thing and/or bias when hitting all ProVs then going for the brand in question. I know logos may be main drawback of this scenario. Another great video though, my man!
Love the honest preview, I also watch Matt Fryers Preview about this ball. He said No scuffs etc. But if u watch his video careful the paint is broken. And he turns it haha, the joys, keep it up Rick
Nice review, but can't wait to do my own test with the PXG ball as I find the data in this test suspect. I also find it odd that the ball was 4mph slower off the driver and spun less with wedges which is opposite of TXGs review which had the PXG ball faster by 1mph from wedge to driver and spun more producing similar numbers to the ProV1X. The harder feel is consistent with its firmer core which is firmer than the ProV1X and more similar to a left dash. The firmer core should be faster and in line with the TXG review. 4mph is to big of a gap so I'm not sure how you fudged this one up Rick. I don't even see 4mph difference between two piece pinnacle range balls and premium balls unless they are flight limiting.
Great review as usual Rick - interesting to me how Vice balls aren't mentioned when talking about "premium" balls. Titleist, Taylor Made and Callaway always are but not Vice but I seem to remember you were quite impressed by them when you did a test a while ago. Definitely a good ball choice considering the price differential against the others.
A suggestion for testing videos to have a random blind procedure to remove any potential bias. I.e. have 10 balls - 5 pxg and 5 pro v 1, have someone load them randomly on the tee without having any logos being seen by you before you hit it.
I’ve never hit any sort of PXG club, but I get a feeling that this ball is somewhat representative of their other products. Premium price for a middle of the road product. PXG reminds me of a really rich person that tries hard to impress their peers and fit in by flaunting their cool stuff. I wonder if Bob has any friends.
I'm just surprised the golf ball doesn't have a whole bunch of weight screws in it, to make it look like the ugly-ass PXG clubs. They look like the bead-lock wheels you see on mall crawler lifted trucks, driven by the kind of person who buys golf clubs for how "tactical" they look. Between the ugly looks and angry jarhead shouting of Bob Parsons on their commercials, the entire brand is about macho flexing.
@@ChayseGrizzell You sure about that? I've played Mizuno most of my golf life, and have also had cups of coffee with Titleist, Callaway & TM forged irons. I'm not beholden to any brand of club and am certainly not a fanboy of any particular brand. I currently game PXG 0311 irons and they are SWEET. Also play to a 6 handicap. Didn't buy them for the aesthetics, or to impress anyone. I demo'd several top brands and settled on PXG for the feel and performance, for ME. A buddy has the 0211's, as does my dad. All sing their praises. As with any piece of golf equipment, it's subjective and what works for some may not fit another or we'd all swing the same sticks. Same goes for golf balls. Several recent reviews have shown very different findings than what Rick experienced, so I wouldn't jump to conclusions. But, I suppose it's easy to cast judgments without knowing a thing about what you're talking about, but hey, you do you. Be that guy. Although perhaps refrain from making such nonsensical generalizations and sounding like a dummy? Just a thought 🙂
Rick, your chart that you displayed for about 2 seconds shows a club head speed of 108 but a ball speed of 87 for the pro v1, and 108 for the pxg ball. Kind of hard to buy in to the accuracy of your test with data like that. Ball speeds should be roughly 1.4 to 1.5 times the clubhead speed depending on quality of the strike. From what I gathered in watching your field test is that the pxg ball is considerably louder like a top flite surlyn ball but other than that your test is very subjective. The only true way to test the two balls is by using a trackman monitor and an iron byron swing machine. I enjoy your videos a great deal and I especially liked your Stealth 2 evaluation. I’ll withhold judgement on the pxg balls until I have a chance to play one.
Loving the honesty, as usual. It brings so much credibility when you do compliment something. This is why I don't understand when creators have sponsors/ product placement; we know you're being paid to say nice things, so how can we trust you?
Seems like a more expensive version of the Costco balls. Did pretty OK in all the other categories, and then driver was 10 yards short, exactly like the Kirkland. Like you say, if it was another $10 or so cheaper, it would be worth considering.
I tried a PXG ball during my last round. From the first strike with the driver, I found that the ball felt & sounded very hard. I played one hole with it before switching back to my regular ball.
Thanks for the honest review Rick. I did buy a dozen of these at the new PXG retail store 🏬 here in Troy Michigan before your review. Too cold to play but I’ll tee it up in the spring.
I'm a huge fan of PXG especially since they lowered their prices and they really take care of military and law enforcement with huge discounts. I have the original 0211 irons which I love and truly believe they co.pete with the Taylormade P790s especially at the price point. I also have a 5 wood and a hybrid from PXG that I also love. Don't know if I would use this ball though. I usually buy 1 box of Pro V1s and once I'm out of those I go to Kirklands. Thanks for the review Rick!
I watched this yesterday and have now gone away and watched a few other reviewers. The best one of those being the TXG review, where they compared it to the Pro V1x, which based on dimples and compression is, in their opinion, the closest match. Rick, you're the only one that hates it! I wonder if this was a bad day for you, maybe the batch of balls you got wasn't great, whatever, but you seem to be on your own here in hating it. The TXG review especially makes it clear that there is no difference in performance between them and that the feel, if blindfolded, they wouldn't be able to tell one from the other.
Thanks for the review on the ball, Rick. When you review the TaylorMade Stealth 2’s, could include in your review that whether TM improvement over the Stealth 1. In your review of the 1’s of a gapping issue between the 7 & 8 iron. Could you include that in your evaluation? 👍🏾 Have a good week.
Old video to comment on, but I'm almost positive they're Kirklands. Both made in Vietnam, both have identical letters stamped on a few of the dimples, and both sound absolutely IDENTICAL. I just got a dozen for free after doing a PXG fitting, and thought it looked familiar until I pulled out one of my Kirkland balls. I'm convinced they're nearly identical, and wouldn't be surprised if the only differences are the printing on the outside and the color of the core.
Rick, your opinion of the PXG ball’s durability is pretty accurate. The first full iron shot I hit with it scuffed the cover of the ball. The ball is a bit spinny to me. On two occasions the ball spun back about 15 feet. Lastly, it’s difficult to get used to looking at the PXG logo when you’ve played Titleist for 20+ years.
Was looking forward to this review! thanks! I have heard that the speculation is that the manufacturer of the balls is the same as the Kirkland Costco balls, they aren't the same balls (I believe the Kirkland balls are lower compression for example).. interesting that these cost significantly more than the Kirklands in that case.
While im no PXG fan, I think this ball isnt marketed to those that can hit the ball long. Yes, it says on the box that it is longer than a ProV1, but I think swing speed is a bit of a factor here and most that get this ball, will be hitting it at a lower swing speed which maaaaay take off some of the spin rate meaning it may go a little longer for some folks. Just my two cents. Would love to see @txg take a swing at this!
I agree with you there. It looks like the ball speeds they used for the data at the 2:27 mark seems to be in that 148 range. That’s usually that 100mph speed. Rick is more that 110 right?
Above all, I like a certain feel when putting. I recall a whole lot of "distance" offerings in the past that were not at all good for me on the green - gave me lots of trouble gauging speed. It seemed others agreed: a number of guys teeing up pink flying lady's back in the day as a means to get away from putting an apparent brick in a casual round. Found a home with the professional 100, which got dropped for the proV1 [which was good also] - I'd still grab pro100 if they made them though. Durability? If I get more than 3 rounds from the same ball its unusual enough to just not worry about it.,
Hola Rick, I watched Mr SG use a robot to test this ball and from his survey it was a very different outcome to yours??? For definite the spin rate for wedges was unbelievable on his test, I cannot believe there is so much difference between the two tests??? Great channel by the way 👍
I have a box of these coming, will be interesting to see how they compare and if your anecdotal findings will be similar to mine. The only true way to test these balls vs any other is on a machine, just too many swing variables .
Yeah Peter Finch made a quick mention about noticing lack of durability in them when he was using them in his recent PXG fitting video. Didn’t commit to a firm opinion as he wasn’t properly testing them, but it will be interesting to hear his opinions as well when he releases his full review of all his new kit.
These tests can always come down to how Rick is feeling on that day. A multi day test, or even week long review would make more sense and be more useful for consumers
I have bought and used these already. Last 3 rounds all with the same ball. They are really good. Driver distance is definitely as good as pro v1. It has worn ok as well, but hard to say if it was better or worse than pro v1 as I was doing a lot of tree hugging. Couple of pound a box cheaper than titleist so I will definitely buy them again, especially as they often randomly drop there prices. I would put them above chrome soft and above tp5 But can I put the equal or above the pro v1, dunno, time will tell. If they were same price I would buy titleist every time
I recently got a dozen PXG golf balls and thought I would try them for a full round. I quickly gave up after 5 holes. I found the feel and performance tee to green as good as the Pro V. But around the green and putting they would explode off the club face and shoot way past the hole and going off line. These balls to me are the same as the old Titleist NXT which I quit playing for the same reason.
Be a interesting to see what PXG staff players play with the ball, none I would imagine if your test is anything to go by. Honest unbiased opinions are what you deliver Rick and that is why most rate your tests.
The durability test is very important to me. I like to know the ball will last for the next golfer who finds it in the woods or lake.

I always appreciate how Rick gives honest feedback, regardless if he knows the PXG person personally or has incentive to give us spin.
100% I also love the story from one of the podcasts where he was invited amongst others to a pxg demo or an event where the pxg owner was present and gave his honest opinion directly! 10/10 for integrity
If they paid em i hope he cashed the check and still was honest with us .. love it
@@mr.gorehowl5160 he’s stated numerous times he is not paid by manufacturers in any way. They simply send him the product hoping he will review it and that’s it. The only companies he takes money from are the clothing and shoe brands he wears.
No need ti watch it after reading the title of video
Also helps to drive side by side with the same club, as the same ball sounds different off another driver
Yeah, and don't rely on the monitor to guess the distance, but actually go find the balls.
Txg did a test against prov1.. pretty much the same ball..
With the driver they had slightly more backspin...when you don't want it.
@@robhendrikx2198 more backspin on the driver isn't always bad, just depends on the person
No kidding. I’ll use the same ball until I lose it.
bruh, I'm glad to keep the same ball for two or three SHOTS
I've played 72 holes with a Pro V with mild wear. These would be toast after 18 if they get so damaged with mere pitch shots.
@@seanlucero9506unless it hits a cart path.😂
Good point, perhaps a little tired after hitting all pro v1's first.
Otherwise, very informative.
they get scuffed up and that's all you need to know
I bought a dozen of the PXG Extreme balls after getting fitted for PXG irons.
I mean he proved its not as long as a pro V1, and I have a full bag of custom fit set of Gen 4. I love PXG as much as anyone else.

Very biased review. This ball is benchmark tested with Robots and Ricks video couldn't be further from the truth.
Watch out for scammers- nearly got me
Appreciate the honest review but does anyone else think he needs to test the Pro v1 again? Seems like he's built it up into something mythical and wonder if it had another logo if he'd be as impressed with it.
Rick have you ever thought of doing a blind test of golf balls? Someone else places the ball on the tee. Top and back to make your own mark so you cant see logo or marking made by the manufacture. Then you hit 10 balls and see which one you like the feel of and which one goes further. I have done this and you might be surprised by what the blind test shows. I have never played anything PXG, haven't seen them yet in my club house or Dicks sporting goods.
Kinda hard to do since some balls have markings all over the ball
PXG is much whiter than a Pro V1 with a different dimple pattern.
Sounds like a Top-Flite when you putt or hit it with an iron. Kudos to you, Rick, for an honest, objective review with no sugar coating. 👍👍
Hilarious, every Damn golf ball I've played makes a different sound off my putter. PROV sounds loud with me. I guess you play those silent golf balls. Lol. Yeah Right. I haven't played the PXG yet, but, a microphone can add sound.
He always sugar coats the Pro V. 1000%. Go ahead pay $55 a dozen.
@@demsareunamerican6800 I have played Titleist Tour Soft for years. To me, performs every bit as good as Pro V, but only $35/dozen. I also have a stash of about 5 dozen “found” Pro V’s if I choose to play them. 😁

Interesting review and one that I regard highly as I do with all your product testing. What I do find confusing is that Matt Fryer when testing the same ball found the spin more than adequate and the distance achieved with the driver was 7-10 yards longer than you managed.
Won't take much to be longer then a pro v1. They are not designed for distance. They will spin way to much off the tee for most people.
Also, it's $39.99 in the US, so a good $10-$15 lower than most of the premium balls.
my first thought was kirkland.
The US price does not include VAT

He’s very biased against a lot of companies
Great review as always. But I just wish Rick would have drove the PXG first rather than a load of pro V1’s so he was more “fresh” and less fatigued when hitting the PXG so it really gives it a fair comparison test. Unless this was just the editing and there was decent time past between the two driving sessions
There's nothing like a Prov1, for me the closest replacement is a Zstar. It's going to take something special to better a Prov1.
Always great content, but would have loved to see you hit golf balls from the other brand(s) in straight comparison to spin, sound and so forth, besides the driving test
Thank you Rick-your reviews are saving me precious time and unnecessary frustration. ❤️⛳️✌🏻
Glad you like them!
@@RickShielsPGA of all the comments, this one gets a reply lmao
Let’s be honest, you’ll play equally well (or poorly) with a titleist prov1, a pxg (or a range rock for that matter) 😂
I had my doubts when I see them advertised but you have confirmed my suspicion cheers Rick
Once again you have done a wonderful, comprehensive review. Thanks! I go back and forth between pv1/pv1x and tp5/tp5x You may have already done that comparison between the 4. Do you have a chart of the result or a link to that video? Thanks so much for your time!
You already know it’s gonna be a good day with a Rick upload
Especially with cutting a ball in half! Classic!
The TP5 i was using before that was genuinely chalk v cheese.
really? i find the AD333 really soft!
Love the honest preview,
I also watch Matt Fryers Preview about this ball.
Great video! I love how honest and thorough your reviews are. Your channel is the best golf RUclips channel out there… I love your content!!
I love the Vice drive ball. It’s cheap and affordable but has a really soft feel.
@@SirVic42 LOL if you see someone with PXG clubs on the course, you know he’s shit and always says “just put me down for a bogey.”

I thought wanting to bite golf balls was just me being autistic but it turns out it's a valid ball test
Same factory(says mygolfspy). Basically the same ball with a firmer core.
I tried a PXG ball during my last round. From the first strike with the driver, I found that the ball felt & sounded very hard. I played one hole with it before switching back to my regular ball.
surprised you got the wedge out for the chipping test! you should do that on the course as well 😂 no more putting from off the green
Thanks for the honest review Rick. I did buy a dozen of these at the new PXG retail store 🏬 here in Troy Michigan before your review. Too cold to play but I’ll tee it up in the spring.
Everyone should go watch txgs video on this ball before taking ricks opinion as law.
I would LOVE to see you do a video on the LA Golf prototype ball! I have managed to get a few dozen and they're not bad!
The military and law enforcement thing is a main reason I won't ever use PXG.
Titleist's quality isn't expensive...it's PRICELESS 👍
Appreciate the honest review, these balls have been hyped elsewhere, great to get a trusted opinion
A guy playing the Ping 425 driver can’t complain about the sound.
Great review. Love that Rick’s got the pelts on the wall these days to not sugar coat these to appease advertisers.
Honest and true opinions about everything you test. I have been using the Pro V 1 for years but always have an open mind to try something new.
Great content as usual Rick. Just a heads up that the ball speed for the Pro V1 looks wrong in the data comparison towards the end. Cheers, Andy
I love the honest reviews. Most everyone else “loves” everything they review.
I thought this was going to be a solid ball, changed directions pretty quickly.
This is why I love your reviews. We’ll done sir!

Well done. Clear, complete and honest. 👍
Idea Rick!? Maybe have some pro v1s with the pxg balls at the same time ?
Love the honesty. I was considering trying them. Maybe a sleeve, certainly not a box. 👍
Durability? If I get more than 3 rounds from the same ball its unusual enough to just not worry about it.,
Just seen a review on Tour extreme Golf comparing PXG Ball to PROV1X and the results are better than here. Maybe its best the try in person.
I can't wait to find a few in the woods when I am headed to find my Bridgestone
Hola Rick, I watched Mr SG use a robot to test this ball and from his survey it was a very different outcome to yours??? For definite the spin rate for wedges was unbelievable on his test, I cannot believe there is so much difference between the two tests??? Great channel by the way 👍
He didn't hit the ball well with the pxg. That's 100% of the issue. He is getting opposite results vs everyone else because he doesn't like pxg.
Do you only record on cold overcast days or is it aways like that?
Product reviews are the best. Would probably never buy a PXG product, but i still love watching the review.
Funny, the other online reviewers like the sound, and have given it good reviews.
These tests can always come down to how Rick is feeling on that day.
A multi day test, or even week long review would make more sense and be more useful for consumers
Very helpful, Rick. I love their clubs but will likely pass on their golf balls.
I would put them above chrome soft and above tp5
But can I put the equal or above the pro v1, dunno, time will tell.
If they were same price I would buy titleist every time
If I were to wager a guess, you've got PXG irons in your bag?
Appreciate the honesty as always. My dad and I were looking that these to review. I'll keep playing my prov1x.
I recently got a dozen PXG golf balls and thought I would try them for a full round. I quickly gave up after 5 holes. I found the feel and performance tee to green as good as the Pro V. But around the green and putting they would explode off the club face and shoot way past the hole and going off line. These balls to me are the same as the old Titleist NXT which I quit playing for the same reason.
the start of the Title desribes your channel perfectly.
Be a interesting to see what PXG staff players play with the ball, none I would imagine if your test is anything to go by. Honest unbiased opinions are what you deliver Rick and that is why most rate your tests.
Love this review! Love the non bias opinions but just curious, why isn’t this done on the review channel?
Matt Fryer seemed pretty fond of them…I almost bought because of him but glad I waited for your review.
I just bought two dozen Srixon Z-Star and thought I may have done wrong. It all good now.
