I wouldn't. Seems everybody does that and there is no way they are light years ahead of a lot of the other brands... except in price! Great set up for the review channel launch and we should get to see a lot of testing going on starting with different iron sets. Got to agree with Rick that Cobra is underrated and make exceptional equipment for a great price! Almost went that direction myself but had Cobra's for 20 years... was time to change it up.

Rick, I work as a club fitter and have had the opportunity to test most of the clubs on the market. I think you will be disappointed by the cobra cb. They have a TON of offset for a cb iron, and they feel really firm/clicky. The new srixon zx7 have less offset and still a bit clicky imo. I would recommend looking at the ping i230 with maybe an icrossover or i525 for your driving iron or look at something like a mizuno pro 225 or 223.

    • @BLKMeSa
      @BLKMeSa Год назад

Agree 100% I played the first-gen ZX7/ZX5 combo, and the i230 feel very muted and soft (close to the ZX7 and way softer than the ZX5). Even after testing the mk.ii ZX irons, the i230s were as forgiving as the ZX5, but felt way better. They are consistent in carry distances, get up in the air easily, and look clean in the bag. Not to mention Ping's custom fitting is second to none. Maybe the only downside is the weak number of included no-upcharge shaft options which do not come close to Mizuno's.

I understand the reasoning of 14 degrees of bounce in English winter, but not for the Scottish summer links courses. You should get a set of each, depending of where you are playing. No surprise of skinning a 14 degrees bounce wedge when you are on a links course... Have fun tinkering your bag, that is almost as good as playing 😅

Rick, I really love my Cleveland wedges. I hit the RDX-2 in 50, 56 and 60 degree. An interesting thing about the is a two part bounce angle so you can hit ones in the back of your stance with lower bounce.

Very excited for the upcoming reviews and what you will be putting in the bag. I feel Srixon irons have been so underrated and would be lovely to see you bag them.
In my opinion the Srixon Z star is an excellent ball. I get greater spin and feedback when compared to the Titleist Pro V1 (just my feeling).
When it comes to wedges I use a 46 PW and then a 50, 54 and 58 as I found that provides the same gapping throughout and similar distance gapping.
Keep up the great work and excited for what's to come. Love from South Africa.

Great video Rick, absolutely in love with your new bag.
At this point in your game and the need for a change I and I think many fans would love very much to see you go get a proper fitting for your full bag. I think it would make an incredible video not only for your channel but also for viewers who would like to see a fitting. I strongly feel that finding someone whom is brand agnostic and just giving you the hard data would be a treat to see. Love the content Rick as always.

I had literally the exact same wedge set up down to the model. I ended up moving to vokey 46°, 52°, 58°. The 58° is the perfect pairing of the 56 and 60. This also is a better spread for me and approaching from 50-120 yards.

You are to funny! Really relatable explanations. At the end where you show your swings you can be 15 - 20 yards longer. Shift earlier to in your downswing to the left with you hip. This would make your very classic swing more dynamic. Cheeers from SoCal.

Rick! Got a fun video idea. Would love to see you hit different golf balls with different drivers to see which combinations sounds the loudest/best off the tee. It be like an ASMR video

Rick, you should do a video on giving old Bluey a make over. Get the colour changed and get a dot on your putter.
Might be a good way to get viewers existing clubs brought up to date without spending fortunes on £700 drivers.
Bling your swing in Durham do a great service for these ( I’m sure others do too) they did a Sldr mini driver for me. Looks brilliant

I did the same with putting a PW that matched the irons vs a “wedge” PW, and gained far more confidence with it. Good move!

I was in the same spot at Rick with wedges. 50, 56 and 60. Had the Vokey SM7 56 bent to a 55 and then had an even 5 degrees of loft difference between them all. Working pretty well so far.

For irons I can’t recommend the Mizuno MP-18 SC enough! Few years old but go a long way, amazingly forgiving and feel like nothing else.

Rick you really should consider the Wilson Staff CB iron set from 4-GW. I love my set; standard lofts, pure forged makeup, thus amazing feel; very sexy looking and well priced. In fact, not to long ago you tested them out and had a very rewarding test. That said, I also have the Wilson Staff 52 Wedge as well. For your less loft 56-60, longer irons and driver....I highly recommend you giving TXG a call and have Ian give you a nice fitting. With respect to the ball, I started my pick from the putting green and worked my way back. In the end, I went with the Vice Pro Plus for their feel, perforce and cost efficiency.

The rogue ST woods and drivers are the Ole'Bluey for me. They sit so well behind the ball and sound amazing. The 5 wood is my favorite, goes just as far as a 3 wood and sometimes driver

Golf clubs are funny. When I began playing 25 years ago, the ping sound was what everyone wanted because that meant you had one of those new fangled titanium drivers. All the drivers I started with were steel and sounded like hitting the ball with a fence post. Friend came along with his new Titanium, wow that was so loud it made everyone know this guy has to be good swinging a $500 driver.

That gap can be taken up by a 5W… as someone that hits woods with height, it’s a great club for that between 4i and 3W distance… solid gapping and it allows a ton of control

For wedges, maybe consider the Pings. I've had a few Ping wedges over the years and they always feel great.

Since you are looking to test and review new wedges, please please try the new Edison 2.0 wedges. They even have odd numbered lofts standard so no bending required!!!
As a player who at times struggles with blading wedges, I really want a professional opinion on these from a feel/forgiveness/versatility standpoint.

I would love to see you take on an idea I've had for years. Really depending on your level of play, finding clubs or setups that have dual purpose. Example find a driver with the loft at 9 degrees with a certain shaft for your distance setup vs. A 10 degree loft adjustment with possibly a different shaft. Not talked about a lot but pros make these modifications pretty often and would be cool to see you share the wisdom with the public now that adjustable woods have become some predominant. Like a refined version of your playing with 2 sets video that then goes into different wedge grinds.

Rick, don't get too close to manufacturer and their marketing gurus. Concentrate on your technique, there is still a bit room for improvement vs tourplayers you challenge
