Been using this app for months, and just recently discovered a “hidden” feature that’s very useful, and not shown in the video, so here it is in case you didn’t know about it: once you’ve set loop start and end markers, long pressing on the loop start or loop end buttons will bring a pop up window that lets you fine-tune the position of both markers, by moving them backwards or forwards in selectable increments of seconds, hundreds of milliseconds, or 10s of milliseconds
I’m a studio member and I’ve always used the Anytune pro app for the challenges but watching this I’ve just added this app as well. I think they’re both worth it for different reasons. The value for money of both is still massive because the content is every tune in your library. Great video!
Bob you are such an inspiration. My teacher introduced me to transcribing only last week. His song of choice for me is Autumn leaves Scott Hamilton's version. I will check out this app.
Yep loved and used this app for years! Another tip- if you hold the scrubber slider and drag your finger higher up the screen and away from it, you can fine tune your position and scrub much more accurately. Mega useful!
AudioStretch (Android and Apple) is another great alternative. I love the Keyboard and Spectrum feature which shows the notes and overtones over a playable keyboard. I do like the Spotify integration of ASD though. That is very helpful.
I’m an Anytune user but the UI is kind of horrible. It’s needlessly hard to use, loads of buttons with unclear functions, and the file browser is just a pain. In speaking with others, these frustrations seem quite widely shared. We just don’t switch because it was so expensive.
I’ve been using this app in the past year and like it. It’s great for playing things in different keys or learning alto solos on tenor, etc. I use it on the computer though, not iPad. The only problem is that for transcribing, I like to hover my mouse over the playback timeline and click the same spot over and over again to loop a section. This way, you can change how long the loop lasts on the fly. It’s similar to the old technique of bumping the needle on a record player. You can’t do that on this app.
Left a comment on the last video as well, but I would be really cool to hear the solo in its entirety. As I understand it you're the only one who has it(?) Haven't found it anywhere on internet. In case you read this comment I also want to say thank you for all the inspiration you have given me. Have been watching almost all of your videos since I found them when I was in high school. And just last week I had my final recital at uni. greetings from Norway.
“Will Mom be OK with us having waffles for dinner”? - “Yes she will”! That was awesome - he replied with no delay, complete commitment and confidence! The kid has SO much potential!
Great video Bob! I use cubase and import tracks and sync them and can make loops etc. I lent my setup to a friend and haven’t done that for ages. This is so much more convenient!!! Thanks!!
Noticed you had the speed set to %105 at the start of the clip. Trying to make things even harder !?? Annnd got the end of the video and I realize that was express haha. Wow !
Hi Bob. I guess my follow up question to transcribing is what do you do next? Do you practice the solo in all 12 keys? How do you analyze afterwards what you just played?
That was great! I’ve had that app on my phone for years and never used it because I was doing things in real time. I’m going to put it to work!! As for the next video, I would love the ‘Chris Potter geek out session”!!
Interesting that you took the solo to 105%. I’m almost done reading The Art of Impossible by Steven Kotler and he talks about operating 5% outside of your comfort zone. It’s a rather immeasurable amount but regardless, get out of your comfort zone but not too overwhelmed and you’ll grow. Do a video on necks. I recently got a new one from Randy Jones at Tenor Madness. The shape of the new one greatly helps out my altissimo; the amount of the bend creates a little more resistance. The other difference in tone is that it seems to focus on the fundamental instead of the overtones which gives a darker tone…it sounds like the highs are rolled off (to use guitar language). I’d love to learn more about your new neck and hear what you like about it and why you chose to get it.
This kind of transcriptions are so far above my head and ears. I wish I had started earlier. Transcribing is very painfully slow for me. Small fast intervals, pick up notes etc. I can't seem to do it without slow down. I've been playing a long time but this is a weakness that Is need to address.
Hi everyone, you should try an app called «Transcribe!». I use it on Windows 10. It's not sexy but in my opinion way better than this slow downer because you can set markers in the song like for each bar, it slows down, it also change pitch, tuning, does eq, ... I thought I would learn a new app by watching this video but Slow Downer is not very impressive IMHO.
Me too. Apple Music is working for me, even without the pitch transposition tool functioning. I saw you in Vegas with Snarky Puppy a while back and it was incredible! Thanks!!!@@bobreynolds
You can record the song from Spotify or anywhere else into Audacity, and then slow it down without changing pitch,or change pitch without slowing down or do both etc.etc.
Bob, I am so sorry to say that I had no idea about you so that lets you know how up on things I am. And I will say as if you don't know, you is a bad motherfucker, sorry for my French, LOL Right! i am the Baritone player from James Brown's band, which has been dead for 20 years,or so, time flies! But I am happy to run across you
Hi Bob, now the ASD does not support Spotify, do you have any alternative suggestions?
I switched to Apple Music; it works great with that.
One trick I do: screen record the youtube video and upload it to the app. Works great

Always a good day when Bob posts
Great sounding band! That must have been fun :)

But -.best thing I ever did was joining Bob’s studio!
Can you identify the differences or additional benefit of Slowdowner above Anytune?
Bob you are such an inspiration. My teacher introduced me to transcribing only last week. His song of choice for me is Autumn leaves Scott Hamilton's version. I will check out this app.

Shows the NOTES? I'm looking for this feature. How accurate are the notes transcription?
Anytune has all these features plus many more, like ability to isolate instruments etc.
That’s what I use.
I would love to anytune support spotify like slow downer do!

@@DoglessEndeavor agreed 100%
Great app I’ve learned every show or transcription since 2015 it’s great I recommend it two!
and i recommend it three

THANK YOUUU !!! Is perfect! welcome to Colombia

Been my FAVORITE app for years now!!! Love it so much yesssss
Great video Bob! I use cubase and import tracks and sync them and can make loops etc. I lent my setup to a friend and haven’t done that for ages. This is so much more convenient!!!
Thanks!!
I've used this app for year's and didn't even know about some of these other great features! Thank you
Great to come soon a sax RUclipsr who can really play! Awesome. What other RUclipsrs should I check out?
A great new VLOG. Thanks, Bob!
Noticed you had the speed set to %105 at the start of the clip. Trying to make things even harder !?? Annnd got the end of the video and I realize that was express haha. Wow !
love this video. Just purchased amazing slowdowner today.
Hey Bob! Scrubbing on the 'timeline.' You sound fantastic.
Hi Bob. I guess my follow up question to transcribing is what do you do next? Do you practice the solo in all 12 keys? How do you analyze afterwards what you just played?
07:13 Love how Bob Reynolds has an AABA playlist.
Re: my question at the end... which one should I make next?
Neck video!
We need that potter geek out session!
As much as I want to hear about the heritage neck…..I need more transcribing info for now!
Chris Potter!
As a non-sax player who loves your channel... please Chris Potter :)
That was great! I’ve had that app on my phone for years and never used it because I was doing things in real time. I’m going to put it to work!!
As for the next video, I would love the ‘Chris Potter geek out session”!!
I had a CD player where you could set a - b loop points, a Marantz I think.
I’ve always used Transcribe, but definitely gonna try this app
I use Transcribe on my Mac and Amazing Slow downer on my iPhone. I think they're both equally useful tbh
Geek out sesh with the solo again!!
The Neck video. Thanks for the video.
Oohh how i missed your videos!!!! Love it!!
Try transcribing/learning from a vinyl LP album on a turntable
Hi Bob! Anytune Pro for iPad is better, i recommend check it!

I see you throwing those sneaky slow zoom-ins for dramatic effect 😉
Hey Bob, can you share your Spotify so we can follow and check out your playlists? Thanks?
Yoo that would be awesome
This video is a life saver. Can't thank you enough. 👍👍
The Amazing Slowdown App is dope
Peas and waffles is the dinner of champions...awesome as always Bob 👍🏾
Amazing video, thanks!!
ASD’s been around quite a while.
Gary on a phone recording still sounds like a million bucks...
Yup
what is the standard playing when you show the questions about the app? I know it but i cant grasp wich one it is!
‘Round Midnight
good stuff Bob
In the beginnig, is that a diferent neck? What is it?
I use youtube with magic action plugin, it's kind of the same.
This kind of transcriptions are so far above my head and ears. I wish I had started earlier. Transcribing is very painfully slow for me. Small fast intervals, pick up notes etc. I can't seem to do it without slow down. I've been playing a long time but this is a weakness that Is need to address.
Start today! Start small. Something like Miles' solo on "So What?"
@@bobreynolds Thank you for your reply Bob and for the candid way you deliver your content!
Why does it only play first 50 seconds. My solo I want is in second half of song
How do I get the songs on the app? Sorry for the elementary question I am not great on getting songs on apps to use this app efficiently
I feel you man, I can't get songs from my spotify playlist to appear on the ASD app.
Potter Solo 😉🎷 please

I like Transcribe too but this might be useful when I just have my IPad I think.
Is there a link to that show?
Bob is a CAPO!
How do you handle this topic when playing in a section in a big band?
Hi Glenn, can you elaborate on your question? I'm not clear what you're asking exactly. Like how do you memorize big band section music?
That was very interesting to watch, thanks Bob. Chris Potter next please? :-)
Potter solo please
Let me just say - woah when you played 105% *clapping very nice*
Can i use it with youtube?
Have you found a new Slow Downer Solution since Spotify will no longer connect to ASD?
I switched to Apple Music; it works great with that.
Me too. Apple Music is working for me, even without the pitch transposition tool functioning.
I saw you in Vegas with Snarky Puppy a while back and it was incredible! Thanks!!!@@bobreynolds
Chris Potter video using the Boston neck :-D
What's the name of the app ?
WHAT APP IS THAT
😂
Was mom ok with the waffles & peas meal? LOL
☺️
Waffles and peas? Is this some kind of offense that I didn't understand?
Besides that, perfect video, I am a bass player and this video was helpful :)
Much easier than using a Turntable....that's how I transcribed Giant Steps., Countdown, Seven Steps to Heaven
etc..
BEAUT
I screamed at 11:10. Damn.
I'll definitly transcibe it !
You can do all this and much more with AUDACITY.
Can you synchronize it with Spotify straight from the app? For me it is the game changer
You can record the song from Spotify or anywhere else into Audacity, and then slow it down without changing pitch,or change pitch without slowing down or do both etc.etc.
“slider”….
I see you changed the thumbnail and title 😏
Bob, I am so sorry to say that I had no idea about you so that lets you know how up on things I am. Neck video
Music Speed Changer App way better
I often wonder how far musicians could advance if transcriptions were more readily available.
Not as far as if they took the time to figure out all those solos by ear
I refuse to buy apple unfortunately, so annoying the way the monopolize everything musical and bastardize it with the corporative leech sucking
