This is my favorite couple in the whole series! Shikamaru is one of my favorite characters and I always relate to his thoughts. Temari is the character that I found the most attractive and I like her wind style with the fan. Shikatema was meant to be!

The real reason he quit was actually cause he wasted so much chakra. He knew he couldn’t go on, and even if he did win, he wouldn’t have enough chakra for the next battles. The elders found this to be very wise and talked to the Third Hokage. Then the Third Hokage said he should be made a Chunin, but sadly he died. The message lived on and then Tsunade made him a Chunin out of Hokage recommendation.

It actually wasn’t filler. Similar to how Sasuke solo book got it’s arc after Naruto and Sasuke’s clash, Shikamaru’s light novel got its arc as well. So Sai and Ino’s relationship was canon in both Anime and Mange, and the Manga’s version wasn’t forced due to the anime.

Far and large the most believable relationship in the entirety of Naruto. They complement each other so well.
Shikamaru totally reminds me of a former co worker. He seemed to be a lazy slacker, but when it came down to it, he was actually reliable. Shocking l know. Now with the fictional character, being a smart genius and all maybe deep down he was insecure and didn't want attention.... he kept it low key, can't be bothered attitude, unlike the flashy, cool Sasuke that all the girls drooled over, or the burden/ expectation/responsibility that comes with exceptional ability/leadership (Neji). That Temari paid any attention to him at all is quite flattering. She acknowledged him. She was the only one who saw through him. She encouraged him! I am pretty sure he never thought of taking the top spot (neither would his parents, I'm SURE OF IT), but her encouragement and being around Naruto made him into a more striving person with a bit more passion and zest for life... to CARE about values and to protect the people he loves
They mutual respect and appreciation for each other. This happened organically over time. It's a very realistic depiction of a budding love affair and how a person can mature emotionally, physically and professionally. They're like highschool sweet hearts you know after destined to be together for the long haul.
The whole Nara clan chose strong level headed women you can see when he asked his dad why did you marry such a demanding wife and his dad goes on I forgot what episode it was but it was almost foreshadowing
