@@asmrrevontuli5348 Karelian is basically the same language as Finnish but in different dialect. My grandparents spoke Karelian language and they didn't have to learn Finnish when they had to move (Stalin stole their homes)
@RockerFinland I know what karelian language is like... I speak it... And it depends on the karelian language dialect. Viena dialect is more like finnish but then livvi and suvikarjala are more difficult and less like finnish language...
@@key.baukwuThere's some truth to what you say, unfortunately. Historically, Finns have sometimes had the tendency to look at their smaller "brotherly" nations as if they were similar Finns inside who just needed a good bath to wash the "Russian" out of them... I hope most of that attitude died out along with the 1920-1940s delusions of "Suur-Suomi". In Finland, there is still unfortunately practically zero knowledge of the sad history of e.g. the 1600-1700s, the mutual animosities and even ethnic cleansing related to Lutheran and Orthodox people getting trampled under the shifting borders and loyalties between Russia and Sweden, with a lot of the the Orthodox Karelians ultimately driven out of their homeland, etc.

yes, but exactly until the moment when the Finns decide that the Karelians don’t have their own culture and language, because this is not so
