Bryn ... you are honestly the most informative ferret momma on youtube I cant wait for your videos to upload. I'm 30 and just got my first two fuzzbuts. I just wanted to thank you!
For what it's worth, I have a trick that seems to help even for transitioning a ferret from their imprinted kibble to a better one. Simply grind up some of the old kibble and dust it over the new food for a time to give it a familiar scent and taste.
Originally I was going to feed kibble but I found your videos just a couple weeks before I got my ferret and managed to flip it around. Now I have 2 ferrets doing very well on frankenprey, thank you :)

Hello! New ferret owner bere staring tomorrow 😄 I was curious as to where do you find the complete grinds or grinds in general? Could you find this at walmart in their deli section or other grocery stores like that?
@@yoursxtruly_x there are websites that sell grinds !! www.rawfeedingmiami.com/ is one. i'm not sure if you can find them in walmart, i haven't been there in a while
@yoursxtruly_x In one of her videos, she talks about two companies she loves as do I. My Pet Carnivore and Raw Feeding Miami. She also uses Hare Today. Buying from a grocery store will be extremely expensive as you'll get a small amout for a big price and plus, you won't be able to buy the different meats, meaty bones, and organs ferrets need. Give your ferrets 3 to 5 different proteins every week. it's important to do this to be sure they will have a balanced raw diet. A whole Raw egg be given once a week. one egg per ferret. They need the whole egg.
thanks so much for this video i’ve been wanting a ferret for about 3 yrs now and I’ve done about 50 pages of research! I’m so excited because i’m getting one for christmas and I’m feeding it raw so this video helps a lot!
This video was so helpful! I’ve watched all of the others on the raw playlist. I’m adopting two boys in the beginning of December from a family who can’t take care of them any longer and they’re currently eating Marshall brand kibble. We’ve got a long way to go 😂
I have a few questions: -How long do 5 and 2lb containers of whole ground prey last for you? I want to get a read on how much I need to get if I decide to buy bulk. -Is it better to feed one type of animal a day? Or multiple? -Is there anything I should watch out for in locally bought meat? Specifically from grocery stores. -Besides fish, are there any other meats I should stay away from feeding too often? -Are there any other soups you'd recommend? I don't really want to support marshall, you know? I'll be watching the other videos in the playlist after this one, so I'm sorry if you've already covered these. -------- Your videos have fully convinced me to switch to raw. Hey there! Quick video suggestion in case you have an idea block! I'd love to see you review different people's ferret diets, such as making sure the ferrets have a balanced diet, (good quality kibble, the balance of raw foods throughout the week.) and helping us ferret owners improve our feeding! Perhaps it could be in the format of the cage reviews, but that's up to you! I'd personally love your feedback on the way I feed my fluffies. Thanks!

Ayyy! Arizona is amazing. (Despite the insanely hot weather and the “scenery”. It’s pretty for the first few weeks, then all you see is dried out trees and cacti.)
This is an awesome video, thanks so much for the information! I do have a few questions though... 1) How much eggshell powder is okay for them to have per week? Two eggs? 2)Can a ferret contract salmonella or other raw meat illnesses and pass them on to you? 3)What should someone do for hairballs? I am really concerned with this because I can't a healthy remedy by store brands. Thank you for your time and insightful information!
I'm planning to do a Ziwi Peak kibble diet for my future ferret when I move out and am older. Also, I'm going to have two of the same size bowls for the kibble and the water and place them directly by each other because the kibble is de-hydrating like you said. But about more bone needing to be added, I found that Ziwi Peak also has bones for ferrets and (I'm assuming) dogs. Would it be okay to give these bones to my ferrets? Or should I try to transition my future ferret after awhile from kibble to completely raw? Love the video! Your the greatest ferret owner I've ever seen.
Can ask you for some advice? We got a ferret from a rescue. I don't know how old he is. It took a few weeks to transition him to raw. I feel I still have to go back and forth from meaty soups to whole bigger pieces. I'm not if he gets bored or what. Anyway this was working for 2 months but now he's not eating either. I did offer kibble after being worried that he didn't eat for 1.5 days and he gobbled it down rapidly. I let him have his fill but then tried to go back to offering raw. Have I just ruined everything? Can I overcome this? Why won't he eat the raw anymore?
I'm getting a ferret in February but I wanted to do my research before I just gave random food to my ferret I was going to just give him the marshals brand but I am so thankful for your videos I never would have known. But i was wondering if i do the frakenprey diet is it okay to give him pinkies for a treat on occasion
If you were feeding a Franken prey diet, how would you feed them the egg? What I mean by that is would you feed it to them instead of muscle, bone, or organ or would you just add it to one of the meals?
Bryn Katharine ok thx. I was also wondering f I was feeding a frankenprey, would it be ok to feed a whole prey like once a week? And again, if so then would it be a supplement or a meal and if it is a meal then what meal would it replace?
@@poodle_pop1655 at 4:13 bryn says it's ok to feed it alongside other types of raw diets. Also, since a whole prey animal counts as a completely balanced meal on its own, it wouldn't replace any other meal if that makes sense. Like it wouldn't be a supplement, since it counts as a meal, but you wouldn't replace, like lets say an organ meal with a whole mouse for example, since a mouse would be completely balanced on its own. Basically, make sure that your meal plan is balanced throughout the week, excluding the whole prey, and just add a whole prey item as a meal for your ferrets every once in a while if you would like to. Hope this helps, sorry for the long comment and really confusing explanation :)
(No expert, just sharing my good news & how I personally did it) My first step was to just simply get them off of that horrible Marshall's kibble they were given, period! lol! As soon as I got them, it was my goal to get them off of ANY ferret-marketed kibble, and I transitioned them specifically to the *Instinct Raw Ultimate Protein* chicken cat kibble! ... not any other version or flavor of the instinct raw brand. Specifically just the "Ultimate Protein" chicken one, because of the ingredients list! I only gave them this kibble for a couple months, to help them adjust & transition! It's still not perfect; but when looking at the ingredients list, makes "Instinct Raw Ultimate Protein" very close to perfect - Compared to other kibbles. And I went from this kibble, into a raw meat diet! This way I knew they were getting better quality kibble, until I could get them onto the best diet possible via raw meat! All three of my ferrets were fully willing to eat "whole grinds" within two days! Both my boys went for it the first day! My girl decided to follow their lead, but it took her an extra day to be willing to fully go for it! I was thinking it'd take longer, I was prepared for it to take me weeks. But I got lucky, I guess, because it just took one to two days for all 3 of mine! I did add a little water to it, and I used a fork to mix the water into it. So it was slightly soupy-ish, when I first tried giving them meat! I feel transitioning them from a "real chicken" kibble, to a real chicken grind, is what helped make it possible to accomplish so fast! As well as the fact they are less than a year old, so they're still young. And how I made it just a little bit soupy to start out with. Now, my goal/focus is to slowly incorporating other types of meats. (Rabbit, Duck, Turkey, Quail, and so forth) And I am wanting to gradually make it less of a grind, to more of chunks & legit pieces! We'll get there! I am only 2 weeks into this, so far; but I am *SUPER-DUPER EXCITED & HAPPY* at how well my 3 fur babies have done! www.amazon.com/Instinct-Ultimate-Protein-Chicken-Natural/dp/B06XDPV2QG/ref=pd_ybh_a_21?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=E959G3Z09N0M55AB6F7Z
I have a question ... I am going to get a ferret soon and I wanted to know what my best meal plan could be . I can’t do it like your I can only give it the same foods over and over . But I obviously want it to be healthy . I would really want to have my meal plan like yours but I can only use 1 type of meat 😬
If u were to walk your ferret every day how much time should you walk them for?by the way I love your vids they are so helpful and entertaining to watch😁
Good vid. Thanks for the info. Looking for suggestions. I'm considering converting to a raw diet but don't want to break the back. Thinking about buying 2 whole chickens and 1 whole duck from the market and just putting them through a grinder. Bone, organ meat, and all. Mix together and freeze in ice cube trays for easy portioning for later. Thoughts?
Hi there! Your video is soooo helpful and informational! I recently fostered a ferret from a rescue who was fed raw previously. I feel that he has a problem eating bones. I chopped up some chicken wings and crushed the bones before giving to him, and he seems to always eat the non-bone meat first and then for the bone-in meat he actually leaves the bones out. Is there a good way to help him with the bones?
I have 4 questions. 1.Is it really expensive to feed raw or is it cheaper to feed kibble. 2. How much are you supposed to feed your ferrets. 3. Is it ok if I get the meat from a normal grocery store like Publix or target. 4. What meats do you recommend to feed. ( sorry about all of the questions )
Can you add a list of what you feed and how you change it up so its not boring for your ferret please it will help me a lot oh btw I want to do fraken pray.🥺please I'm very confused add a list and show us how you make a meal.
When I get a ferret, I plan to let them free roam when I am home, and only keep them in a cage when noone is home, or at night. I also plan to feed raw because that seems to be the best for ferrets. I've been watching these videos to educate myself before getting a ferret because I want them to have the best life I can give them
How do you add the chicken wings into the diet? Does that work as a whole meal or is it added? I love your channel and I always look forward to your videos :)
Ok I'm confused. I searched up freeze dried ferret food and it brought up Wysong. Is that actually freeze dried food or is it a kibble? Cause I thought it was a kibble
It's more of a kibble brand its is not recommended at all for feeding a freeze dried raw diet. I suggest you try feeding ziwi peak, it's a strongly recommended air dried raw diet [which is essentially like freeze dried but they air dry it to keep all the great nutrients in there for them] my two fur babies love this stuff and it's one of the healthies freeze/air dried digest you can give them hope this helps.
@@aniahgales well thank you for that. Still don’t have the ferrets yet lol, but we’re getting closer! Hopefully i get everything together to get them before next year!
I'm trying to learn as much as I can before asking my parents to see if I can get ferrets and your videos are really helping me with cages, ferret diet etc. Also can you just start off raw or do you have to start on kibble and then transfer over to a raw diet?
I’m really looking forward to owning ferrets once my living situation is a bit better however, during my research I’ve found that in Canada, I can’t seem to find a website similar to the one you use to purchase your meat and was curious what you’d think about getting meat from a butcher instead?
Pazuandfriends thank you so much for replying! Learned a lot from you and am hoping to continue learning until I’m finally ready to own some ferrets of my own!
bumblebea i think you're supposed to feed ferrets 4 ounces of raw meat a day each. i found it helpful to order a four ounce food bowl off amazon, so i dont have to measure anything.. sorry if this wasnt helpful
What kind of kitten food is beneficial for them ? I have 5 and they poop alot and have kibble in their cage with water available 24/7 now I'm thinking it could be part of the problem, would love your input 😀
does gizzard count as the other 5% organ. right now there on the holistic ferret forum soup recipe but i’m at the point where i’m adding chunks. aiming to do frankenprey diet
When you say whole pray, does that mean I could get a feed rat like I would give to my snake? (I give my snake live rats) or would it have to be dead? And I’m still pretty confused on what I would feed a ferret. I want the easiest route but the one that’s very beneficial for them. I don’t wanna do something wrong with the food part- but I feel like I’d have everything else down
I looked on the website you put in your description. I saw different animals, and I saw rabbit, duck, and chicken all grounded whole, if i fed my ferret each of these would that meet her diet? Or if i fed her one everyday like one day she eats chicken and the next day she eats rabbit. I have tryed to get her to eat raw chicken and other meats but all the she will eat is the bone and she will get rid of all the meat cuncks I mix in with her kibble (she eats wysong kibble). The kibble she eats is know to be good but I want her diet to be better :(. Shes about 5 or 6 months now. Is she to old to try and switch over?
Possibly dumb question, I’m considering feeding raw, but I’m concerned about intestinal worms. Do you worm your ferrets, is it necessary, and if so what do you use?
Samantha Haynes that’s a great question- no we don’t worm the ferrets. I have not heard of this being done as a precaution for raw diets :) hope this helps
I have some QUESTIONS :)! so by bone do you mean they eat like real bones?? I was also wondering if I make myself chicken if I could give the ferret some of it, or not cuz its cooked and seasoned. I was also wondering if I can prepare meals and then freeze them and either microwave them or somehow thaw it for them to eat.
If you feed them chicken feet would it be better to get freeze dried or raw? And also how is there anything specific to look out for? Ik there is when u give them duck feet you have to be careful and check if the bone is too thick but i have no clue about chicken feet
I’m interested in doing the full grind, but can I just go to my local super or butcher for chicken feet and the like or is there something with those that I should avoid? I personally have never eaten chicken feet but they’re not too hard fo get a hold of where I live.
Denise & Kay I wouldn’t because as kibble is meant to be available all day, the egg would make it spoil much faster. I would feed them separately. Any unseasoned or processed meat is good :)
Bryn Katharine Hey so I was on Craig’s list looking at some ferrets and in the description it said that they love to eat pepperoni but I’m kinda confused because are ferrets allowed to eat something spicy like that?
Where do I buy whole grinds? Seems like the easiest option. I just adopted a ferret. Or where the heck do I buy any of these weird meats? I’m in Fort Worth tx. And are any bones okay? Like chicken bones?
In your video you said you feed varieties... can you post a link to those? I’m looking at the website for where you buy the food, but it looks like they all come separate?

Thank you for this, its very informational and i love all ur videos!
This helps so much thank you!♥️
Can ask you for some advice? We got a ferret from a rescue. I don't know how old he is. It took a few weeks to transition him to raw. I feel I still have to go back and forth from meaty soups to whole bigger pieces. I'm not if he gets bored or what. Anyway this was working for 2 months but now he's not eating either. I did offer kibble after being worried that he didn't eat for 1.5 days and he gobbled it down rapidly. I let him have his fill but then tried to go back to offering raw. Have I just ruined everything? Can I overcome this? Why won't he eat the raw anymore?
your videos help so much i want 2 ferrets so i wanna make sure i research a lot
I'm getting a ferret in February but I wanted to do my research before I just gave random food to my ferret I was going to just give him the marshals brand but I am so thankful for your videos I never would have known. But i was wondering if i do the frakenprey diet is it okay to give him pinkies for a treat on occasion
Absolutely! That's super great to do.
I'm happy dis vid won the pole
Please answer! What is a bone in meat can u give an example?
It’s the bone….it’s literally just the bone inside of the meat that hadn’t been taken out. That hard thing which is humans can’t bite into
If you were feeding a Franken prey diet, how would you feed them the egg? What I mean by that is would you feed it to them instead of muscle, bone, or organ or would you just add it to one of the meals?
Poodle_POP it’s just a supplement! So you can add it to a meal or feed it on its own like a treat.
(No expert, just sharing my good news & how I personally did it)
My first step was to just simply get them off of that horrible Marshall's kibble they were given, period!

Just wanted to say thank you:
Im thinking about feeding my ferret Complete commercial grinds, would the same rule apply of letting them have access to their food allday?
This video was alot of help ❤🐾😊
I have a question ... I am going to get a ferret soon and I wanted to know what my best meal plan could be . I can’t do it like your I can only give it the same foods over and over . But I obviously want it to be healthy . I would really want to have my meal plan like yours but I can only use 1 type of meat 😬
If u were to walk your ferret every day how much time should you walk them for?by the way I love your vids they are so helpful and entertaining to watch😁
thank you so much for this video. very informative 🥰
I am wondering a few things. If I chose to do the Commercial Complete Grinds what types of bone's should I add and where can I find them?
Compete grinds have the bones added already. It's ground up into the meat and organ.
@@wildog47 yeah but brynn talks about how you may need to add more ad those are only little ones and they need bigger ones as well.
Thoughts?
How do you grid the chicken feet? Do you put them in a blender/food processor?
It’s already pre ground up from Hare Today!
Recommendation for where to purchase balanced commercial grinds
My pet carnivore, raw feeding miami are my faves :)
love love the video, want to start my baby ferret out with raw and transition my older ferret to raw.
I have another question sorry, but when you blend up the meat does it also blend the bone up?
I answer all of these questions in the video !
can someone plz explain how there is more bone in meat on the schdule than muscle meat if youre only suppose to give them 10 bone in meat?
Hey Bryn if i where to get chicken legs from the store cut it up and feed it to my ferret would that be ok for the ferret?
Can you add a list of what you feed and how you change it up so its not boring for your ferret please it will help me a lot oh btw I want to do fraken pray.🥺please I'm very confused add a list and show us how you make a meal.
When I get a ferret, I plan to let them free roam when I am home, and only keep them in a cage when noone is home, or at night. I also plan to feed raw because that seems to be the best for ferrets. I've been watching these videos to educate myself before getting a ferret because I want them to have the best life I can give them
for grinds can you give them the ones recommended for cats?
If I do like a commercial grind withought bones could I just mix in the eggshell powder, as a meal I would give regularly
That's perfectly fine!
Pazuandfriends thank you so much for replying! Learned a lot from you and am hoping to continue learning until I’m finally ready to own some ferrets of my own!
For a Frankenprey diet, how much would you feed them for each meal?
bumblebea i think you're supposed to feed ferrets 4 ounces of raw meat a day each. i found it helpful to order a four ounce food bowl off amazon, so i dont have to measure anything.. sorry if this wasnt helpful
i would use commercial grinds
What kind of kitten food is beneficial for them ?
I have 5 and they poop alot and have kibble in their cage with water available 24/7 now I'm thinking it could be part of the problem, would love your input 😀
So instead on introducing meat chunks to them you would do some grinds if that’s the method of feeding you want to do?
Hey! I was wondering if I just buy some whole prey chicks on Hare Today could I just feed my ferrets one chick a day or so I have to add other meats?
Hi! Just curious where you’re figuring out these numbers? Having a lot of trouble finding any research on ferret diets
Can you feed them biltong and biltong is a South African thing
This might sound stupid but how do you get these meats from the schedule on that one feeding technique. I dont know where to get them
does gizzard count as the other 5% organ. right now there on the holistic ferret forum soup recipe but i’m at the point where i’m adding chunks. aiming to do frankenprey diet
Not sure if this a dumb question lol...but where do I buy all this healthy meat?
When you say whole pray, does that mean I could get a feed rat like I would give to my snake? (I give my snake live rats) or would it have to be dead? And I’m still pretty confused on what I would feed a ferret. I want the easiest route but the one that’s very beneficial for them. I don’t wanna do something wrong with the food part- but I feel like I’d have everything else down
When the grinds come frozen can the be thawed and refrozen
When you say preserved in any way, is being frozen included in that?
Question, would you recommend rinsing the meat of with water before and/or after preparing it?
Thanks for your time :)
Where could I find already mixed balanced grinds of different animals
I have a video on this!
where can I obtain commercial grinds ?
Would you recommend the course while ground chicken from my pet carnivore
I like how this was posted exactly on my birthdate
I looked on the website you put in your description. I saw different animals, and I saw rabbit, duck, and chicken all grounded whole, if i fed my ferret each of these would that meet her diet? Or if i fed her one everyday like one day she eats chicken and the next day she eats rabbit. I have tryed to get her to eat raw chicken and other meats but all the she will eat is the bone and she will get rid of all the meat cuncks I mix in with her kibble (she eats wysong kibble). The kibble she eats is know to be good but I want her diet to be better :(. Shes about 5 or 6 months now. Is she to old to try and switch over?
so i have a question we raise our own chickens and ducks and I plan to get quails could a just give them my grown food??
Yes just make sure you’re following the Frankenprey menu or whole prey menu.
Ahh how did I not see this thank you soo much!!!
You cannot give seasoned meat to a ferret
How do you know which freeze dried is best is it like a complete thing or do you need to get like multiple ones like different proteins
The blog link does not work for me :( is there another post you made?
If you feed them chicken feet would it be better to get freeze dried or raw? And also how is there anything specific to look out for? Ik there is when u give them duck feet you have to be careful and check if the bone is too thick but i have no clue about chicken feet
I’m interested in doing the full grind, but can I just go to my local super or butcher for chicken feet and the like or is there something with those that I should avoid? I personally have never eaten chicken feet but they’re not too hard fo get a hold of where I live.
Could I mix egg and kibble together?is any unseasoned meat from the store okay to feed them?
Denise & Kay I wouldn’t because as kibble is meant to be available all day, the egg would make it spoil much faster. I would feed them separately. Any unseasoned or processed meat is good :)
Bryn Katharine ok thank you.im just preparing for future ferrets
(Hopefully soon)
Bryn Katharine
Hey so I was on Craig’s list looking at some ferrets and in the description it said that they love to eat pepperoni but I’m kinda confused because are ferrets allowed to eat something spicy like that?
Where do you find commercial complete grinds?? I’m really trying to transition my ferret
can you feed pinkies live as you would with a snake?
Where do I buy whole grinds? Seems like the easiest option. I just adopted a ferret. Or where the heck do I buy any of these weird meats? I’m in Fort Worth tx. And are any bones okay? Like chicken bones?
Also how do i get balanced grinds I can't find it on my pet carnivore I cant find it not unless its the mix.
Can you feed kibbel and raw? Also I'm a huge fan 💖
In your video you said you feed varieties... can you post a link to those? I’m looking at the website for where you buy the food, but it looks like they all come separate?
