But it turns into a version of "drip" that people hope to use to validate that they are putting together the right things that will help them navigate their situations successfully and get some kudos from others at the same time.
Props for mentioning over dressing as a pitfall. I feel like a lot of menswear influences forget that. Also 100% on using a denim/chambray shirt as a nice little bridge between dressy and casual.
the gap between too formal and too casual can be very small because women do care about fashion on the one hand but find overly dressy outfits weird too. In case of a date, sneakers can be adequate if you are younger because most women wear sneakers as well, especially in summer it's fine to do clean sneaker + chino + poloshirt. In winter however women do like boots so I'd go with a cordovan or calf leather boots.

Overly branded clothes are definitely clothes I avoid even on a normal day. Always love just plain clothes with neat details. That's why I always seem to stand out with people that are my age.
I have seen so many well-built guys in shirts that are a size or two too small. We ladies are not turned on by that. Trust me, we can still tell if you work out when your wearing a properly-sized shirt. If we’d like to see more, we’ll let you know! 😊❤
My advice would be: Unless you date teenagers, it is always better to dress slightly up. In particular women tend to typically dress much more up then men in my country. So as a man, dressing up for a date can never go wrong in my opinion. Also, it helps to simply agree on a dress code with her prior to meeting. Bring it up when setting up the date, it might prevent potential faux pas later on.. 🤝
I respectfully suggest agreeing the dates "dress code" is OCD, better to infer the expected dress code by the venue/s chosen. Bear in mind that ladies will almost certainly be able to dress down with more acceptance than men.

I can personally attest to the fact hat if you're in fairly good shape, a plain tight white undershirt tucked into well fitting jeans will make for at least 3 successful dates, no matter where you go or what you do.
I find it sad that this video is necessary. When I was in high school in the 1980's all of us guys read GQ like it was the Bible. We looked great EVERYDAY. We had pride in our appearance. My parents were willing to spend the money for us kids to dress properly. In high school/college I dressed to impress the girls. It worked! I dated a lot (no, not a player type) and really enjoyed it. Now days, unless I am downtown, I live near Orlando, I rarely see people dressed nicely.

"fussy clothing" I have found that once a bow tie is set in place, and that can test one's patience, the bow tie is the most ignorable form of dressy wear. It seems to move well from casual to formal. It never dangles in the way or gets a spot of soup on it. It also looks somehow more natural on a short sleeve shirt with no jacket in summer. The ling tie seems actually more formal in my mind. I wear it for serious business.
Colognes and perfumes: BIG turn off. Use very sparingly. Goes for the Ladies and the Males. You think it smells good. I'm suffocating. Girl friend: How'd the date go? Lady: The person at the next table had to be rushed to emergency because of my perfume.

While I wouldn't wear a morning coat to the park, I'm probably going to dress as normal going on a date - probably a suit, tie, hat, dress shoes, pocket watch, and so on. Maybe a dinner suit to a nice restaurant. While putting a bit of extra effort into your style is definitely a good idea, setting unrealistic expectations on how you're going to dress, look, talk, and so on isn't that smart. On top of that, the kind of girl I'd be most interested in is one who finds me as I am interesting, is eccentric and unusual herself, and thinks in an atypical, complex way. I'd probably find a fellow aspie (high-functioning autist) most exciting in a relationship. A girl who fusses and whines over non-conformity isn't for me. In the end, if she doesn't like my foppish style, the door's right there.

As a female, honestly, I do not care about what you wear as long as it doesn't reveal a lot of skin. Just be yourself on a date, isn't that why I or you invited ourselves for a date? To learn about eachother? You don't necessarily have to be a gentleman to get women, unless you want to. If you ever get married or together with someone, it's going to be very tiring to put up the gentleman act all the time, so, from the bottom of my heart, be yourself. My go-to is a collared shirt, dark denim jeans, driving moccasins, and a navy sport coat.

throw on a white v-neck, grey joggers, and some nice, not gaudy trainers and call it a day imo, maybe put on a cardigan if it’s chilly out
