@@Isometrix116yes and no. Pretty much all BCG’s are made by a couple companies, microbest being the main supplier. However they’re made to different standards and QC’d better for some companies than others. I think BCM rejects almost half of the ones they receive from them iirc. You’re really paying for the QC from a company like BCM over PSA
As stated above, its all about QC. A company like PSA for example just grabs a bcg (their uppers too) off the shelf and puts it in the mail. BCM inspects every bcg and upper individually and tosses them if they're even the slightest bit out of spec. @Isometrix116

The forgings were a whole lot better than a Cerro, Kizer, Mueller, Brass Aluminum, Cardinal, and Anchor Harvey. ArmaLite was the only company than did their forgings in house, most others are Cerro and machined by Aero Precision which basically is just that in another name. BCM sat down with Cerro's engineers and redesigned the upper and lower forgings and added metal in critical places and removed it in others making a better receiver set. I've only found one who was ok with 12 gauge buck recoil. But I maintain that for me, I'd prefer the 12 gauge for one or two invaders. The OO is a better lightning bolt than the 5.56. Maybe even 3 but for the whole damn gang I agree that the AR is a better choice. I still have an old 6.8 SPC II SBR that shoots plenty soft for the wife and offers a good punch from a shorty.
For MY money, I'm very pleased with my S&Ws, as they easily rival the ARs I have that are $3 and $400 more.... I also have a Core AR that I cannot complain about at all..... Yeah, I never understood the point of tritium night sights, when you can't even see what you're aiming AT.
I totally agree that it's a great option for women. As you said they can be trained to be lethal in 15 minutes and they usually enjoy shooting ARs.
It's all in getting to know your rifle/firearms, and knowing each one's favorite ammo... and they each DO have their own preferred ammo... in 5.56 AND .223............both
