I did it! I actually rewatched this video in the airport when I got off the plane. I almost chickened out and just paid the like $75E+ for a cab. But I thought, no. I can do this and it will be an adventure. And it was. And I saved so much money! I got off at St. Michel Notre Dame and walked the rest of the way. The only snag was exiting the metro. My ticket kept going through the machine but the turnstile would not unlock. Some nice men used their Navigo cards to help me (it took 2 tries). I’ll definitely do this again. Thanks so much for the video.

I had to travel alone from CDG to Paris by RER B last April. I was really anxious about that because this train line wasn't recommended for tourists. Moreover, I wasn't used to travel abroad alone. I played this video again and again before leaving Japan. Finally, I did it! I enjoyed staying in Paris. I really appreciate you.

Thanks for this! I have taken RER from CDG before but I got a 5 or 7 day multi-purpose ticket. It made me get my picture made at a photo kiosk and go to an agent to complete. I had trouble at the kiosk getting it to work. Your way looks like I could have skipped all of that and just be satisfied to get to the city and worry about any other tickets then. Having just crossed the Atlantic without any sleep even prior to flight, I could have used less drama. I'll go your way next time!

Just returned from Paris. This video was a tremendous help. Rode the RER to Denfert then switched to 6 Line on the Metro to Boissiere to get to my hotel. Just a couple things to keep in mind. As the RER gets closer to Paris it gets very crowded. The suitcase becomes an obstacle but the other riders were very polite. Depending on you final destination, you can be riding for more than an hour. You also might have to deal with dragging your suitcase up and down stairs. I had this issue when connecting to the 6 Line. I did not see an elevator but I really didn't look that hard. Overall, it was still fun to ride on the RER and 6 Line.

Elevators are a very rare sight in underground stations. They're more common in aerial stations, but those stations aren't very numerous.

Yeah the RER ticket is supposed to be valid for the metro too. But the thing is, most of the times I've had issues with my RER tickets specifically when coming from CDG.
To give a bit more context, the local train system in Paris is shared between SNCF and RATP. Metro is fully RATP, RER is a bit of both. CDG is in SNCF zone, so when you enter you validate your ticket on SNCF machines. When you exit in Paris (either to outside of the system or to a metro), then you'll pass an RATP machine. From my recent experience, those 2 machines are not quite perfectly compatible, and several times I was unable to exit the RER in Paris with my ticket after getting in at CDG :x (the solution then is to exit by following another traveler... as if you didn't have a ticket, top quality service)
I even got fined once because the stupid SNCF controllers are not equipped to read the magnetic stripe of tickets (whereas RATP controllers are equipped) and the faulty machine hadn't printed on the ticket... So great to have 2 companies with different rules :x (I've been controlled numerous times by RATP staff with a non printed ticket, it was no trouble at all, this one was my first time with SNCF controllers plus the faulty print)

My hubby decided that we use the trains from cdg airport 😂 to hotel Lorette Astotel.
So we watch ur video and see what will happen to us this April 2023 :)
By the way, we are coming from SG so that's a 13hrs flight ✈️ if we do via SQ or a 18hrs flight if we do via Qatar airways. So goodluck to us! :)
Thank u so much for ur amazing tips 😁
If you visit Singapore, I'll be glad to tour u around or if we see you in Paris....that will be awesome! ;)
Sometimes I meet friends accidentally overseas like the time we went to Shinjuku Japan, saw my friend at Starbucks and we are bought ordering the java chip during Sakura season. We know it's cold but we still want to try.

Good tips. As a rail geek, the RER is my favorite way to get to CDG. However, my wife is not nearly as enamored with trains as I am, especially when dragging our luggage to and from a flight! So we are planning for an Uber to and from the airport this summer. It certainly is more convenient to be dropped off at the front door, but it is pricey!
The one exception I would note would be time of day. I took the RER B south to head to Orly once and it was during morning rush. I literally have never been so packed in a train as that day. Literally nose an inch from someone’s back. I imagine the RER north through the city was just as bad. Not sure what highway traffic is like that time of day, but, with luggage that was not a pleasant experience that I want to repeat.

This is a very good video, but unlike most people I would not recommend the RER during the high season. In my multiple experiences, it is unreliable, absolutely packed, and malfunctions are frequent. And if you are coming in on a warm day, do not expect air conditioning, you will be jet-lagged and may need to stand for at least an hour because there may not be a seat until you reach Gard du Nord or possibly Saint Michel Notre Dame. For a first time, it’s an absolute no. If you are in the off-season and travel lightly then you will be fine.
    Otherwise, a very good video!

This is how I always come into Paris from CDG. Just came back this week for the first time since late 2019.
US credit cards don’t have PINs for purchases but I have never had a problem using my card to get an RER ticket. (Just confusion following the order of steps on the screen! Blame that on jet lag.)

Will the ticket includes the return to the airport? How long does the going and return last? Which station is near the Eiffel Tower?
