The reason they can get 1420 mah is by lowering the volatage. Coast and other chinese companies make 2400 mah LITHIUM "1.5 volt" batteries. Longer run times, lower Lumen output.

I like both the i5r & the Saber. But I believe the Saber is going to be an i5r killer. Everything about the Saber is better (except the pocket clip). The clip is a little flimsy on the Saber. But the Saber has the better tail cap clicker, better access to high mode (not having to click it so fast like the i5r) I love the 60 lumen low mode & the more focused beam w/ greater distance. And I really like the "very white" tint.
But keep in mind...I am using this as a work light while doing HVAC. Not for camping or around the house stuff. So when working in crawl spaces & attic spaces the 60 lumen mode is perfect 90% of the time. And the extremely white tint makes everything show up better. And I definitely benefit more from the tighter beam for some good distance. And when I need ALOT of light, the 650 lumens really gets the job done. Pair the Saber with an Archer mini, for top pocket carry grab & go, and you have a perfect working combo.
AND YOU CAN'T BEAT THE SABER PRICE!

But for body material pure aluminum on saber vs aluminum alloy on the i5r and for the weight and runtime i like the i5r more but for battery compatibility saber is ahead speacially on 3.7v

for me the i5r being on a "customized 14500" kills it completely. A proprietary battery sold by one company for one light makes the i5r a 1.5V AA only light in the long term. With the saber's standard 14500, I can replace the battery years down the road.

i bought Stardust version of the i5 9simple,not R), the buton its pretty hard to press. i barrely use it, owning way too many flashlights... i would not buy again for that reason. great comparison.

The "tough" button has the advantage of less chance of accidentally activating the light, a positive for me.
