Hey brother. There is a big warning that I have to give to you. That CN City fandom wiki page is extremely biased, misinformed, and incorrect. The moderators are basically 1980s Millennials who have a grudge against the CN City era. For example, the article falsely claims that all of the Cartoon Cartoons were gone from the channel in 2005. Yet the 2005 Summer Cartoon event fandom page contradicts this and clearly states that episodes of Dexter, Bravo, Powerpuff Girls, Courage were shown in that Summer event (which were normal hours). The Summer party bumpers even have these characters in the background, and all of them had multiple CN City bumpers themselves since the channel was still promoting those shows from January to August 2005. Cow and Chicken and Mike Lu and Og in comparison didn't get bumpers since they were moved to Boomerang. That article also doesn't mention the fact that the last season of Johnny Bravo aired during the summer and fall of 2004 which is in CN City territory. The Powerpuff Girls had their last season air in early 2005. The Cartoon Cartoon Block didn't come out until September, which was basically after the peak of the era in the summer and into the end nearing the Yes! era. The article also doesn't even mention Miguzi. If you read the article, you can actually see hostility in how the words are presented. The Powerhouse era had live action segments way before the City era did. For example the Hey Johnny Bravo and the Powerpuff Girls music videos. I assume that you remember seeing most of the Cartoon Cartoons during the City era. Don't let those 80 babies who threw temper tantrums that "CN died in 2004" fool you.

@@murrayvation Sure thing my friend. I also wanted to ask if you could pin my comment so that others are aware of the situation as well? We don't want the CN City era to be blindly hated by those who don't know much about the era. As for citations and sources, the most informative that I can recommend are honestly other RUclipsrs who actually watched the eras and documented important events. Shadow streak, Rebel Taxi,MonsterReviews, and 47CartoonGuy were the most informative. Archives of everyday programming can be found online that shows recordings of what the typical shows shows were shown at that time period, including commercials. One of the biggest problems with the fandom pages is the fact that anyone can edit them, as well as having neckbeard moderators with a cult mentality. They don't include sources or citations at all to show proof, and as I said often times contradict with each other (as can be seen with the 2005 Cartoon Summer page vs the CN City page). This is why Wikipedia has a rule of banning such fandoms as citations. I believe that you can also look up archives of how the TV scheduling was for the City era. That's how I found out that May-August of 2005 still had episodes of Johnny Bravo airing. Those 80s Millennial babies have a famous history of hating the CN City era. They always say that 2004 was when CN died after the Flintones were moved to Boomerang, or when they changed the logo. They have an agenda basically and often try to manipulate by mixing events that had happened in other eras. The Cartoon Cartoons from the 90s weren't dead from the Network in 2005. Time Squad, Courage, etc still aired at normal hours beginning of the year and were involved in the summer celebration. The Cartoon Cartoons block that came out in September of 2005 was made since Camp Lazlo and Juniper Lee started to get more concentration. Ben 10 and My Gym Partners a Monkey didn't come out until December 27 of 2005 (almost 2006). The Cartoon Cartoons started being pushed into the 5am time slots around late 2006 and into 2007 when the Yes! era was in full effect and taken over. The Yes! era was when Ben 10 and Gym Partners a Monkey entered the spotlight, as well as other debut shows such as Squirrel Boy, Class of 3000, and Robotboy in 2006.

@@murrayvation Rebel Taxi honestly is one of the most informative RUclipsrs that I highly recommend. His videos include detailed information of many behind the scenes of many programs, and he is an expert in finding lost media. He always puts the sources as well, and that allows me to do more research on my own as I look at those reliable sources and dig deeper. In fact, he just did a video on Cartoon Cartoon Fridays that shows proof that Cartoon Network did live action blocks as early as 1999. He also got information from Tommy and Tara who did the Cartoon Fridays in the City era.

CN city was and still is as a 27 year old what I had imagined and dreamed all the Cartoon Network characters do between episodes. I think that’s why every love it so much. I was glued to the tv when I first saw the city era I remember the day and I first bumper I saw. I made sure not to miss any bumpers. I knew we were in for something special. I used to watch Disney and nick and when the commercials come on I switch to CN to watch a bumper. Look up the pre city era 3d bumpers of empty houses CM was Teeing people up for the City.

I have found my people, finally I'm not the only one still appreciating and reminiscing about how beautiful and great the CN city era was, it's up there with Ka-Blam and Game Show-era Nickelodeon for me. I'm still gushing at the thought of CN City, I wished there was a continuation for us boomers who lived throygh those great eras. Dexter discussing science-y stuff with The Professor. The Mystery Inc. in a que with Megas XLR in a drive-thru. The KND's giant tree house overlooking the same street where the Foster Home for Imaginary Friends lives on. The whole CN cast navigating through traffic lights befitting the daily lives of New Yorkers. I always wanted to find people who appreciates it as much as I did so thank you for this.

I actually like the CN city era and the Powerhouse era the same. I grew up with both. I was 13 when the City era came out.
One thing I really loved about the City era was the characters from the shows interacting with each other. I draw cartoons myself, so I used to imagine what if my characters were a part of the city too. Another thing I love is how much thought was put into these bumpers. They were so clever.
One of the reasons why I also love the Powerhouse era was because I loved how Cartoon Network used to show classic cartoons as well as the current ones. I have always loved classic animation. They also used to have a show called Toon Heads, which was a program about animation history. I was actually sad when Boomerang came out and took all the old cartoons away from the original channel.
Another thing I loved about the Powerhouse era was the very cartoony song they used for the bumpers and the classic cartoon vibe the bumpers had. Wasn’t sure if you knew this, but during the Powerhouse era they did have a handful of commercials with characters reacting with each other. The slogan was “The Best Place For Cartoons” and they were pretty funny. Difference is, they had older cartoon characters interacting with the current characters. I loved how the older characters knew that they were starting to be replaced by the characters from the new shows and were bothered by it. The one with Scrappy Doo was hilarious.
Anyway, both eras were very special to me and give me so much nostalgia and happy memories whenever I see old bumpers and promos on RUclips. Really enjoyed watching your videos.

These bumpers made the entire channel viewing experience feel tangible in a way. I wasn't just watching a series of programs, I was experiencing a series of some of the finest animation at the time. For an imaginative autistic kid like I was, this was super amazing. It was fun to think about how these shows and characters would mingle together. I can't imagine this branding to be very cheap and I think part of the reason why it was short lived was because it was probably more expensive than traditional channel branding. It required storyboarding and collaboration with all on-going and on-air projects. I was fairly sad to see it go but now, as a wiser adult, I'm just happy I got to experience that high water mark for the channel. Sometimes when you watch those cartoons today, you can still see that water mark from the horizon.

Looking back, I feel that CN began its transition to the City era as early as Late 2003; months before the actual City rebrand. This is because by the time CCF became the New Fridays, most of the HB, MGM, and WB classics moved to Boomerang (the channel) if not to their all classic blocks like Boomerang (the block), Acme Hour, Tex Avery show etc. with this CN started focusing more on their newer programming such as Billy & Mandy, KND, Teen Titans , Duck Dodgers, Totally Spies!, What’s New Scooby Doo, among others in addition to Ed Edd n Eddy which continued even during the Yes era. They still aired some of the older Cartoon Cartoons such as Courage, PPG, Johnny Bravo, and Dexter Lab but as the months went by they slowly started airing less and less, especially around March/April of 2004 which is when the channel had even more drastic changes. By that point Boomerang became the only block that aired classics and outside that block the only classics that aired in the channel was Tom & Jerry, Scooby Doo, and Looney Tunes. Toonami during that period had a rebrand and moved to Saturday nights, as it got replaced during the weekday by Miguzi. Mucha Lucha and Mega XLR premiered around that time. By May 2004 the schedule and overall feel of the channel was more or less the same to when the City era began but with the old logo and branding.

I miss the time where content creators has the freedom to do this. It is hard not to be filled with a deep sadness of how anything even similar to this project could ever hope to come to fruition anytime in the foreseeable future. I don't think that there will ever be a true good Era in any animation studios again because of how networks and studios operate. People don't work as close together anymore, the people in the suites don't know or care about what people want. The bag is the only thing in the mind of the man in the suit. I just wish that this could change soon, but I cannot see this happening ever. To anyone reading this, I hope you have a good day and good fortunes in the times to come. 🙏

Just wanna say this video got you a sub. I loved cartoon network as a kid. Born in early 90's and seeing how it is now bring a tear to my eyes not good ones either this truly was one of the best era cartoon network had to offer. Sadly as a kid I took advantage of that, was picky, and now looking back I miss that stuff.

Man, it’s sad that CN is right now. Because the channel went from the best for cartoons/anime, to basically a shell of its former glory. I mean CN was at the top of its world back then, I mean a huge variety of shows, blocks, and as well as creative bumpers. CN City and Powerhouse era we’re considered the absolute best for CN. As soon as the Yes era came along that where the channel started to lose its magic. And because of that I started watching Boomerang at the time because of it, since it’s always have better variety and scheduling than CN that point. Speaking of Boomerang, has anyone noticed the channel has been improving drastically lately because it brought back a lot of classic cartoons. Because when boomerang was rebranded back in 2015, the channel was a shell of its former self. But right now, the channel getting back to its old glory again just like from the 2000s/early 2010s. I wish CN could do that, but sadly it seems like CN isn’t trying anymore. Yet boomerang is really kicking CN’s ass right now in terms of variety. At least we have checkered past on adult swim tho, which aired classic CN shows so that’s something, and we still have toonami which is still going strong

Hey @Murrayvation I had just realized that when CN city started in June that was right after Nickelodeon aired the Jimmy Timmy Power Hour on May 27th 2004 when it comes to 2D and 3D cgi animation, maybe CN took it from Nick by sending them a message especially after having the CN characters invade Nickelodeon’s commercial airway😭😭

Latinamerican, specifically Chilean here. I don't have full memories of the City Era but I do remember the majority of the bumpers, from the normal to the special ones. It's sad however that some bumpers of USA never came to this region, for example the Powerfuff Girls in Chile there's like... 2 ones (not counting the large one where the Professor lost his keys) and so on. Also in this region the era survived till 2009 until the "Toonix" era (nostalgic to me but i do know it was the worse era ever) came, maybe thanks to that I remember some of this era. Also we don't have the ones of the festivities and season like the summer one, it's kinda sad to think about it that we saw maybe the same ones since 2004. The music, the animation, the context of each one and this detail where the bumpers have a timeline of the day, those who have morning vibes in the morning, the afternoon vibes in the noon and afternoon and the night ones in the night, like... not matter what you do in your life in that moment, you feel as if the city is there, you're living in there and the time in the city is going like our world. If someday CN came back with something like a remake or a new type of city, believe me, I will turn off this computer and watch the TV like the good old days, I don't see TV since 2017.
Good video my friend, thanks for giving more details from your memories of this era in your country. Take care weon.

Realistically if "CN city" is ever to return it can only do so as it's own fully-realised TV series, and the reason i comet that is this the world of the early-2020's is far different than the world of the mid-2000's. I mean back then both social media and cell phones were still in their infancy, and were mostly something our parents used. the "former" as a means of both work or dating and the "latter" just to make phone calls nothing more. Any and all entiertament we kids got in that time was either on TV or in the funny pages, there was no alternative not even for the rich. Today of course the world is our oyster and we can watch and do things that would of been unthinkable not even a decade ago. Streaming isn't taking over television it already has and if Cartoon Network wants to survive it needs to break away from "Max" and do it's own thing, and there's no better way of them doing that then going back to what made then irresistible and that is CN city.

29:54 a simple explination the bumpers were expensive to made, the animators had bring the original voice actors, made 3d render back grounds and 2d animation of the characters, so the team choosed a cheap and quick way to make filler

I grew up during the powerhouse era, i was a little to young to remember the days of the original network launch. The powerhouse era kickstarted the original Cartoon Cartoons, Cartoon Fridays, Prime Time, the Tex Avery Show and Toonami was finding it's footing. I even consider Billy and Mandy an original cartoon; back during its Grim and Evil days.
Ed Edd Eddy, Courage and Dexter's Lab were the best programs; but I can't say everything below it was average. Time Squad was an acceptable cartoon, Mike Lu and Og was forgettable and Robot Jones was a thing. There were imperfections in that era, but I still believe it was the best cartoon block in animation history.
I was 13 when the City Era began, I definitely have great memories of that era as well.
