    Nice review, I received mine yesterday. In the US, they offered better trade-in values for those of us with 10 Pros, but the buds pro 2 were not discounted enough to buy them along with the phone. We had a choice of sandstone or aramid so I went with aramid which is my go to case for my phones. Anyway, hope all is great with you and need to check out what you say on the buds pro 2. Might pick them up later in the year if they do a better promotion.

      Nice! too bad we didn't have the option to go for the aramid case. I was never a big fan of sandstone :/
      Hope all if great with you too! The Buds Pro 2 seems promising. The few reviews i've seen seems mostly positive, and even DMS seems to like it too for the most part. Though I wasn't all too interested in getting another pair of TWS so ended up selling them off to offset the price of the phone further.😂

    I agree, bang for bucks it represents a solid option in that price range especially in the US where choice is limited. It seems to be selling well in the UK, with delivery now 3-4 weeks, and that is no surprise bearing in mind the 12GB S23U is now £1400 here versus the OP11 at £799 for 16GB RAM. Obviously not as good but is the S23U worth £600 more, especially in these economic times?
    Thanks!

      😂 yeah. the higher prices of phones these days hits harder nowadays. Instead of a super expensive phone that tries to do almost everything, but cost a lot more, i would rather go for something that does just what I need and cut out some stuff that I don't in order to hit a lower price point. But this should be a decent year nonetheless for android phones, since SD8G2 is so good, and the SD8+G1 which is also quite good is being put into mid-upper mid tier devices, kinda like the SD870 used to be.
      hopefully a lot more of these options will make their way to the global market! like the realme gt neo 5 for one looks kinda nice, and i'm sure poco will have something out there eventually too that is affordable but still has good specs.

    No USB C 3.0 not a flagship. Their own 10 pro had USB 3.0 , this phone will have limited USB C dac capabilities and of course not HDMI support. I don't understand how can they cut corners on something so important

    Your review of it makes it feel like OnePlus is trying to go back to its roots, having flagship specs while cutting some corners, to remain at a more competitive price.
    Though I would say, I'm not sure if it works in today's market. We have a wide range of phones over the different price ranges that have good specs and value for money (especially Xiaomi/Poco), and even flagship phones will have large price reductions after around 1 year. Still, this is probably in the right direction for them, but we shall see if the market reacts positively. Thanks for the review!

    • @axhng
      @axhng  Год назад +1

      That's how I felt too. though i feel like it works for me at least. while i'm pretty sure we'll see a ton of good value for money phones this year, especially those with the SD8+G1 like realme gt neo5, oneplus ace 2, redmi k60, etc, most of them will have even more compromises when it comes to camera performance (the classic duo of bad 8MP ultrawide and useless 2MP macro cameras), and other compromises in terms of build materials/quality. It's great for those who don't mind making even more compromises of course to save more money.
      For op11, it's sort of a tier above those phones, but still a tier below like something like the S23 Ultra. that position somewhere in the middle is a sweet spot for me at least.
      and it's definitely true that flagship phones will have price drop after a year or but at least at this point in time, because of how bad SD8G1 was, none of those are even worth considering even if they were cheaper. Personally at least, even if the s22 ultra was now cheaper than the OP11 (it's still more expensive now), i would still choose the OP11 because i care about the performance of the device. something like OPPO find x5 pro is now under 1k SGD and cheaper than the OP11, but i wouldn't choose it over the OP11 too.
      Though whether the same can be said of the next OnePlus flagship, the 12 or something, it's hard to say since the S23 Ultra (and likely the next OPPO flagship) is using the SD8G2 which will be really good.🤣

      @@axhng yep agree with the caveat you mentioned for the value of money phones, those cameras always feel stupid - 8mo Ultrawide I think is fine as a compromise but please just remove those 2mp cameras they do nothing at all.
      I personally don't game too much on my phone so I would be fine getting last year's flagships if need be, but hopefully my phone can hold for another year for, like you said, this year's flagships with better specs overall (I mean, the later the phones, the better the specs generally anyway). Still digging my current phone because it still run pretty fast software wise, even though battery life is really bad (permanently on power saving mode to last through the day with casual use) and the back cover is falling out 😅

    • @axhng
      @axhng  Год назад

      @@MebiManga haha. i can only imagine how cheap those SD8+G1 devices launched recently will be 1 year later. that chipset will likely perform great for years to come too. 😂

    Apparently the 2X tele is disabled in low light. What you get is a digital crop from the main cam.

    • @axhng
      @axhng  Год назад

      if it's dark enough then yeah, kinda the same with most phones. though if it's with some street lighting, or like in the lowlight 2x example I gave of the building, it still used the 2X telephoto camera though (based on the exif data), and then just add in their own night mode processing and stuff. Still not amazing looking of course since the hardware itself isn't as good as the main sensor anyway. 😂

    Will you review the OnePlus Ace 2 pro?

    • @axhng
      @axhng  9 месяцев назад +1

      at this point probably no, since there isn't any global version and i'm not sure if there will be region lock issues like on the Ace 2. there are rumours of a OP12R which seems like it could be the Ace 2 Pro's global version, but then OP12's global release is like a month or 2 away? So kinda more interested in that at this point. 😅

    The video stabilisation of the front camera looks pretty bad... I wonder if that's an issue that can/will be solved with OS updates

    • @axhng
      @axhng  Год назад +1

      oh, that's because i didn't turn on the electronic stabilisation. it's already only 1080 only, and turning that on crops into to video even more. it already looks quite overprocessed to begin with and maybe because my arms are not that long, it's a little too cropped in for my taste.😅
