  • I let my friend test the Stark Varg at Malvern MX. IG @twentythreemx
    Track was deeply rutted and pretty hard to ride! Good test for the battery range of the Stark Varg! Ended up using 45% battery in 3 sessions including one at full power. People were freaking out seeing the Stark Varg at the track! We got a lot of questions! This is Malvern MX in Ohio.

    Deep ruts suck for everybody, just stay balanced when you get in one and ride through it, the only way to get better at riding ruts is to ride a lot of ruts, lol. They need to manage the track better, have a piece of equipment there to flatten out the ruts every morning. When you let them go they just keep getting worse and worse.

      Thank you. That track I think they just rip it way too deep. Its super hard to ride! I actually just put a new super deep tilled section in to my personal track with the intention of making it rut up like that so I can get some practice in that condition. I swear the tracks we raced on in the 90s and 00s were never like this. I don't recall one single track In those days (2 stroke days) that had ruts that were hard to even ride in a straight line. Seems a lot of local tracks are like this now.

    Malvern MX was looking like perfect conditions! Briarcliff MX had a light turnout on Saturday so open ride the whole time. Some fun tracks in Ohio. Thanks for the real world usage range estimates and sharing your Varg experiences!

      @913outdoors  10 месяцев назад +2

      Not a huge turnout at Malvern but track prep was not the best. Those deep sticky ruts everywhere sucked to ride. I'm sure Briarcliff was a lot better.

    Perfect conditions for testing the battery. It lasted longer than I expected. Also love how everyone reacted to it haha.
    How much battery did he use and how much id it drain in that time?
    Do you use/own a generator that can fast charge the Varg? If so, what kind is it and how fast does it charge?

    • @913outdoors
      @913outdoors  10 месяцев назад +3

      I don't have a generator. Still had 30% battery when I got home and each ride at my own track i'm only using about 50%. If I were racing it I would probably bring a generator but practice/open track days not needed for me! Battery is like a full tank of gas. I only bring gas for offroad/enduro rides. For moto I'm toast long before my bike runs out.

      @@mxoudi i'll say if you bring your bike to the track with a full tank of gas and need to refuel during the day, then you should bring a generator. If a tank of gas is enough? No need to bring a generator.

  • @MemphisMG86
    @MemphisMG86 10 месяцев назад +1

    can i ask you why you decided to use the old concept of brake distribution i.e. that the rear brake is still used via the foot
    wouldn't it be better from a handling point of view to use only the hands and let the legs work completely with the bike instead of always moving the right foot/leg to use the brake?
    I noticed that many "pro's" in the promo videos also only drive this config and very few use a bike with brakes on the handlebars.

    • @913outdoors
      @913outdoors  10 месяцев назад

      I've been using a foot brake for 35 years. No need to change now! Also I have 9 gas bikes with a clutch on the left. I'd hate to create new muscle memory and be confused when riding the gas bikes. I like the foot brake. Feels most natural to me. I can see the benefit of the left hand brake but unless this were my only bike, I prefer keeping them as similar as possible.

      @MemphisMG86 10 месяцев назад +1

      @@913outdoors okay good argument i didn't think of that (with the other bikes) and the muscle "memory"
      I also ride motorcycle for 20 years but currently have a 3 year break and just think about the varg to pre-order but just with the brake on top.
      thanks as always for the quick response

      @@913outdoors I strap to the bike. With how short the stump is I can't grip the bike like you can with 2 legs... I lost it from a moto accident. Ive ridden a ko surron. I didn't get to jump it because I wasn't trying to beat on my friends bike. But I think the electric are thin enough for me to hold on with the stump.
      I ride in one gear and use the clutch as needed. I'm using the clutch to it's max and if I had a to choose from converting a gas bike or building electric... I went electric with 1300 being the cost of just the shifter setup I went with build electric because I'm going to be pretty light already.
      My dad is wanting to sell all the gas for a stark.

      Its different that's for sure! Actually super fun to ride. Thought I would miss the sound but the silence is kind of nice! I still have gas bikes for when I want the sound. And yes, battery manufacturing is terrible for the environment. But then with electric we don't have any emmissions, no constant oil and filter changes, no air filter cleaning and oiling, no coolant, no gas useage. Just an hours worth of electricity to charge after a ride. In the long run its hard to say what's better for the environment. I just like to ride them! I've got 2 strokes, 4 strokes and now electric as well. They all have + and -.

      Got to remember that pumping oil out of the ground and getting it to the bike is also bad for the environment. You can recycle a battery as well, good luck reusing burnt gas...

      @913outdoors  10 месяцев назад

      @@kumquat3212 You are exactly right! Electric is worse for manufacturing (one time) and way better for use. Bad for scrapyards in the future unless batteries are recycled. Old oil and burnt gas is not good anyways!
