Just wanted to say thank you for making this. I left Windows for Linux about 6 years ago and I’m a dev that uses vim in every application that lets me and learning vim as well as the command line, Unix system file structure and learning to program in general, picking up another operating system, distribution, window manager, installation method, you name it and it has all been and continues to be such an awesome learning experience. Recently, I have been using a new computer with windows and for the first time I’m not dual booting Linux as well, I have enough computers with many different operating systems(OpenBSD, and other lesser known operating systems) because of a few reasons - work being one and wanting to play some computer games that I haven’t had the urge to do in years but have recently wanted to have some fun gaming. Anyways let me get to the point, I’m using windows (11) and out of habit I want a nice terminal with a custom prompt, a version of my init.vim centered around windows and it’s file structure. I have done this before but I went straight to WSL and just used my same Linux setup, which basically I learned nothing new. This time I wanted to keep this all windows based and see how nice I could get things and see if I could make it optimized to the workflow I have come to love - tiling window management, vim centric, you get my point. I thought this would be easier than I came to find out. I have been struggling with things I usually know how to do soooo well like environmental/path based settings, not understanding why powershell wasn’t picking up anything I installed with everything from winget to choco packages. I was almost at my wits end about to say F it and just run a virtual Linux on a virtual desktop way in the back like always do. But I figured I would see if there were any good tutorials to do what I haven’t been able to do. And you my friend. After following this video. My setup is EXACTLY the way I want it. Only thing I want to add is something like Pywal, one of my favorite little programs that sets a wallpaper and a color theme to pretty much every program you’re using all with whatever alias or hot key I choose. I tried installing winwal (windows version of Pywal) Wallust (another attempt at windows version of Pywal but uses Rust/Cargo) and I couldn’t get powershell to recognize they existed. But again, after watching this video I think I’ll have no problem installing some version of Pywal that works with windows. If you know, or have ever gotten this to work yourself, maybe you could let me know where I’m going wrong if it doesn’t work later on when I get home from work. Anyways, sorry I am a long winded person. If you’ve gotten this far, thank you again. And you got a new happy subscriber. :)

idk wha u did 17 43 like after making that powershell profile in documents folder and adding that command in there mine doesn't work it didn't change nothing which ig cuz its a rndom file in documents ig i have to change the real file
If Neovim plugins aren't installing and you're encountering an "not an editor command" error, first ensure your chosen plugin manager is properly configured in your Neovim initialization file. Double-check for syntax errors in your configuration. Run the appropriate plugin installation command (:PlugInstall for Vim-Plug, for example) within Neovim. Confirm your permissions for reading and writing to Neovim and plugin directories. Also, check if the Neovim version is compatible with your plugins.
If you want it to be transparent, in your init.nvim comment out the theme line, I think the theme was jellyfish if I'm not mistaken, once it's commented out, you'll find that nvim won't have any themes, hence transparent

To set icons in Zsh, you typically use a Zsh theme that supports icons. Most Zsh themes that include icons rely on external fonts like Powerline Fonts, Nerd Fonts, or Font Awesome to display the icons properly in the terminal. Here's an example of how you might set the ZSH_THEME variable in your .zshrc file: ZSH_THEME="agnoster" Replace "agnoster" with the name of the theme you've installed.

Why not use `choco` all the way when you used it in the end anyway?
Just to show that you can use Winget and Choco, personally I prefer Winget, just a matter of habit, nothing more
Thank you, this helped!! But I want to do c++/c# projects. How can I get autocompletion for those....Please tell me......!!!!
Try YouCompleteMe : github.com/ycm-core/YouCompleteMe
Thanks for the tutorial, btw i have. A suggestion I know you chose not to speak but speaking keeps the viewers hooked just a humble suggestion.
Thank you my friend.
I will talk during the tutorials again, it's just I had breathing problems lately and I couldn't maintain talking for hours like before, but I will do my best for the next tuts.
Hi, I have one little problem; I set my terminal with an acrylic background, but when I open nvim, the background is black (except for the terminal's padding). Would you know what's happening?
pd: video vibes are so cozy ^^
thanks man!
15:38 install jedi
Thank you for the observation 😊🙏
Bro B E S T ❤❤❤
Thank you so much my friend 🙏😊
Hello everyone, what is the name of bubbles on start of video?
Can anyone tell me how to set the terminal icons and ps read line??
There is new repo not the one in the video will it still give the similar result??
Have you tried the link 🔗 in the description? I fixed it
@@BekBrace Thanks For Updating Sir
nvim background is black, it's not using the configurations from windows terminal, how do i fix this?
Just follow the instructions in the tutorial. It should work.
Hello and thanks for this nice video! All is good except the CocInstall coc-python, i have this error => "coc-python item?.dispose is not a function".
I'm stuck! I find on the net that coc-python is unmaintened and that i should install coc-jedi but i'm not sure...
Maybe I have a second problem, do i need to install python localy on my computer!!? If yes my problem which lies here =>
I dwld same version as you but the command "python --version" or "python3 --version" give=> "Python is not found".
So maybe my environment variable is not nicely setup to get python in a terminal, i've tried differents ways more than the one explain in the python documentation but nothing to do!!! When you install python the only environment variable that is installed by the exe is the one for the launcher (user variable).
Any advices/help will appreciate!
Thank you my friend.
I remember I've encountered this problem before. Check out my subject on dev.to specifically on how to install neovim but also you will find auto completion installation process. dev.to/bekbrace/neovim-installation-and-configuration-on-win10-1m5b
@@BekBrace Thx for your advice :)
I have dashboard-nvim installed but when I type the nvim command it doesn't display the hyper theme dashboard which it should. What should I do?
there was no folder named nvim in my appdata local folder only nvim-data was there
I know, you have to create it yourself
Hello sir, i'm from in VietNam, thanks you so much, very well
Thank you very much
Good Evening Bek, my Windows 11 does not have the powershell settings option . Do you have any fixes for that.
How come !? What do you have instead?!
Doesn't windows come with powershell installed?
True, but we're installing the latest version
hi.. i don't know how to describe it.. but anyone know how to make the powershell cursor (for typing input "_" ) placed in below the directory (normaly it placed in the right side of the directory ">_")? hope anyone understand 😅
sure, that's in the settings my friend for your powershell, search cursor in the settings, and you can choose whether you want it block, underscore(retro) or line
@ thank you for your reply, I already tried & it only change the cursor shape.. what I want to know is how to place it under the directory line?
my neovim doesnt have a clear background, anyone know what i should do?
Checkout neovim theme, if you will delete the theme line you will have a clear background
after install yarn, my nvim not stay transparent, how can i fix this?
Because it's preset in my nvim.init, you have to go to the file and comment the theme line
how to make that custom 'whereis' function
Don't remember which part of the video, but I'm sure I've recorded how to do it. Have you watched the whole thing ?
thank you so much! can i get your vscode theme name?
The one I use now is called tsoding
12:01 where are my developer settings in my GitHub profile, I just created one.
Excuse me but I changed the theme to my liking but when I shutdown the computer for a while and then turn it on, why does the theme return to default. Is there a way to change the theme permanently? Thanks for read.
It should be changed permanently, make sure that you follow the exact instructions in the tutorial
@@BekBrace thank you so much. It should be changed permannently.
How do I enable transparency of neovim sync terminal Settings in powershell? I set up 50% transparency in the terminal, but it stopped working when I used neovim.
Because you have to comment out the theme line or delete that line in your nvim settings file
@@BekBrace Which file is it in? I was new to neovim, so I wasn't familiar with its profile on Windows or even where it was located.
After pasting the gist file into init.nvim, how to save that file, at 9:48
!wq
2:00 which vscode theme is this!
Kanagwa i think
idk wha u did 17 43 like after making that powershell profile in documents folder and adding that command in there mine doesn't work it didn't change nothing which ig cuz its a rndom file in documents ig i have to change the real file
Ok, just let me know if you need a hand
Amazing, man
Thank you 😊
Thanks, but when i run :PlugInstall , the background of vim its gray and opaque idk why
like 12:45 , the same background
Because this is a Neovim theme called Jellyfish, i think you copied my settings from my GitHub gist right ?
copy & past on github sitting ?where i put that token?
I don't understand your question, what do you mean ?
How do you record the screen in the last words section of your video?
Don't understand your question
My terminal Icons are Just Lost when i restart powershell
Make sure the glyphs are the installed and the caskadiya cove font is on
for some reason the plugins dont't install? why is that? all it says is that it isn't an editor command
Yo brother My nvim terminal is not becoming transparent
If you want it to be transparent, in your init.nvim comment out the theme line, I think the theme was jellyfish if I'm not mistaken, once it's commented out, you'll find that nvim won't have any themes, hence transparent
@@BekBrace so you have to install external package for nvim terminal theme ?? Please reply ..
Can't using PlugInstall , I have install Plug but not working , PlugInstall error command E492! Spent it more time and I don't fix it.
thank you
You're welcome
Can I use CaskaydiaCode Nerd Font Mono instead of CaskaydiaCove NF Mono?

@@BekBrace thanks for help. This is first time I know Hack font.

how to set icons in zsh bcz there is no import module working
To set icons in Zsh, you typically use a Zsh theme that supports icons. Most Zsh themes that include icons rely on external fonts like Powerline Fonts, Nerd Fonts, or Font Awesome to display the icons properly in the terminal.
Here's an example of how you might set the ZSH_THEME variable in your .zshrc file:
ZSH_THEME="agnoster"
Replace "agnoster" with the name of the theme you've installed.
@@BekBrace ❤️thnq so.much i.will.try it
Not working by my side ... The theme is disgusting in mine how you got soo nice theme in nvim ??i don't want heart , i want fast reply
I won't give you any hearts because of the useless comments you've been writing, and since you are so self entitled I won't give you the answer either - learn to be polite first, then maybe I'll answer
