First my goal was to install neovim and try my hand there, but one thing lead to another and found myself stuck, after digging deep for almost 21hr I finally able to customize my terminal and also use lazyvim.
Now the only thing left is to learn neovim 🤐

Do you have any idea why my prompt is loading but slightly off (shifted to one side) when I first load my terminal (ubuntu) but will fix itself when I reload (select a non-NF font then select an NF font) my "Hack NF" font in the Ubunto > Appearance settings?
Do you mean you have ubuntu open and then you change to an NF font while it is open? Changing fonts will almost always require a new reload of your bash to render correctly. If you have existing windows open they will often try to update on the fly but may not load properly. Additionally you could try a different nerd font. I have not extensively tested every Nerd Font so I do not know if the one you are specifically using is bugging out unfortunately. Hope that helps!

Hey, is it possible to turn off command that checks node.js version?? My terminal reloads very slow while I'm in project directory. After checking debug it shows that oh-my-posh checking for node.js version takes 1.6 - 3.0 seconds
Yes this can be modified in your oh-my-posh profile file. Just remove the node version check
@@tohtaltech thanks a lot, just edited default jandedobbeler theme and removed some segments that I don't need. Now it works much faster :)
Maybe practical to add. If you are running Controlled folder access on win11 you will need to allow the profile creation explicitely or this will keep failing 😛. Just broke my head on this for like 20 minutes

Hey Mitchell! So this wallpaper is actuate Steam app called “Wallpaper Engine”. It does cost like $3 I think but it’s a one time purchase I made several years back and never looked back

Hi thanks for this video. i went through a lot of them from different sites and none worked. but this one did. Just a question, whenever I try to change the theme in ubuntu 22.04.2 LTS I get config error after reloading/refreshing. I have tried pointing to /mnt/c/user path and also without. any help?
Hmm I would maybe suggest making sure your bash profile in Ubuntu is correct as well and that you can actually cd into that location from Ubuntu. Also you can try uninstalling the package and reinstalling to try to reset any path issues

Thanks for the tutorial. I am having an issue with the gist. No errors are appearing, but the Set-PSReadLineKeyHandler key commands don't seem to be loading.
You may need to find the correct version of PSReadLine if your default version is out of date
@@tohtaltech Nvm figured it out. I just listed all installed modules, tracked down the out of data PSReadLine modules in windows explorer and manually swapped them out for the most recent one

What are the difference of Powershell 7.2.7. and Windows Powershell?
Good question. They are both PowerShell and both made by Microsoft but the older version is not made with .NET and doesn’t have some of the advantages of modern programming paradigms. The newer version is much more flexible
Which color scheme are you using for the bash profile?
Hey Joe I’m using the default one from oh my posh but in the website you can see other pre made themes. Additionally you can modify the themes yourself and change color through the json!

Hi @Premit are you talking about the powershell profile? This seems like you might need to make sure you have PSReadLine installed but also make sure it is the most recent version of PSReadLine. Older versions will not have the ListView option as it was beta until very recently.

Make sure to install the latest PSReadLine 2.2 GA. You may need to uninstall previous PSReadLine versions you have: devblogs.microsoft.com/powershell/psreadline-2-2-ga/

This is a very good indepth tutorial. I like it a lot. I have done everything and works but the last thing is making Ubuntu point to the OhMyPoshTheme.omp.json.
I have changed the backslash to forward slash as you are doing but I am getting config error.
Is the /mnt a must?

Yes it is because on a dual OS the windows C drive is on a mount for the Ubuntu perspective
I saw the problem. I forgot to remove the full colon after changing the direction of slashes. Now it works perfectly. Thanks. Please do more of these videos. 😊
For ubuntu, why use oh my posh and not oh my zsh?
You can share your profiles on dual OS systems with oh my posh. Since oh my zsh does not work in Windows unfortunately. However it just comes down to preference

Hey! So from a cursory glance it looks like you have C:\Users\user.
I believe it should probably be C:\Users\adnan rather than C:\user\adnan. Case sensitivity may matter as well.
Additionally you could try running the install command in PowerShell again to install Oh-my-posh. I would double check on the oh-my-posh website what that command is because sometimes they modify the flags and they might have new ones today. Let me know if you’re still running into issues
Oh yes versions definitely matter as oh-my-posh is still actively being developed.
this terminal is one of the nicest for windows but unfortunately it handle copy/paste of long lines rendered over multiples lines in a complete unreliable way : most of the time the line split caused by the terminal rendering is transformed into a newline by the copy/paste engine

That’s true. Linux terminals and bash also have cd to home as well though. That is standard in most original terminals. There are ways to modify it but it’s not standard convention. That’s why “cd ..” exists.
You should make a tutorial on how you get this into your vscode.
Hi! VSCode keys off your OS terminal so if you set up this terminal as is in the video it will show up in your VSCode as well when you open up a terminal there!

Which terminal are you using in VSCode?
@@tohtaltech i fixed the broken symbol in terminal ... you need to also change the integrated terminal font family in vs code to nerd font or else it will use default font causing the symbols to not appear.
Yes you need to change it like I mentioned in the video in your VSCode settings
