This song makes me happy and makes cry at the same time. This song came out during the crack era. My mom was hooked on drugs really bad. When I hear this song it gives me memories as a kid running around the projects playing with my friends. I love this song because I am able to capture fun memories as a kid, but it's very depressing to me. My mom loved this song, and it pains me she suffered for years because of drugs. Growing up in the 80s was a different time.
2024... This song brings me back when times were much more pleasant. I'm 47, and this song brings me back to my teenage years. Sybil rocked it with this Dionne Warwick remake.
Back in 1989, my girlfriend (at the time) sang this to me acapella when we decided to make things official. It was one of the most beautiful thing I’ve ever experienced in my life. We both ended up in tears afterwards. My heart just melted. Ah....teenage love. Things didn’t work out between us, but that moment was one of the bookmarks of my life.

Me too! When life was simple. We sat outside with our music and the boys would walk up and down the block to harass us. Once the sun went down, the boys would sit with us on the porch. We would eat water ice and candy. When they left, we would kiss which ever boy we liked and go in the house... only to do it all over again the next day!
Don't Make Me Over is a cover of a classic song by Dionne Warwick, written by Burt Bacharach and Hal David. Sybil released her version in 1989 and it became a hit on the R&B and dance charts. I love how Sybil updated the song with a modern sound and added her own flair to it. Absolute classic! ❤
My 25 year old daughter just discovered this song and now remembers hearing it around the house because I loved it. It was a hit while I was dating her dad--our jam back in the 80's.

I am 50. Music from that time is a sign of life, so different from today. I confess, I remained frozen in that time. Today, there is no emotion, no romance. Maybe it was a fake time, but it was worth being a part of that time.
June 2023 this jam will never be played out. I'm remember playing this on the Staten Island ferry to Manhattan back in 89 everyone was getting down to it.

Oh yeah... The guys in the video are dancing their butts off! I'm so here for that!!
wow i remember this jam great memories, those days i couldn't afford records and used to sit next to my jvc ghetto blaster wait for the tune then press play and record and the same time to record the track( the days of cassettes ) . am sure we have all been down that line .good tune thou
+Daniel Wass . In STL they would play the top 100 songs of the year in December. I would make sure I had plenty cassettes and would record all my jams.

80's girl right here! 🔥🔥💕💕💕
This came out when I was born but I was about 4 when I heard it and I loved it then. Then caron wheeler had the sampled version for her track on the mo money soundtrack and I loved that one as well and been listening to it all the time ever since. I'm 32 now.. good music will always last.
One of the songs Im glad these new age R&B artists left alone.. Some songs just can't be remixed.
This was the golden era of good music. It was the end of an era~
I remember listening to this song on the radio all the time as a pre-teen. Still love this song as a 43 yr old.
This song brings me back to my childhood as a 80s baby. It has a strong meaning to it.
