    Music really IS our universal language

    • @AishawithanEye
      @AishawithanEye 3 года назад +6

      It's not necessarily music, but vibrations. It's difficult to say how much of music is actually understood by other animals, but we do know that some birds understand it because they can hold a beat, match notes, and sing harmonies. Scientists theorize this is because they also have a "language" center in their brain, which many other animals do not.

      You are not "just imagining" that either. I would have preferred they edit out all the unnecessary blah-blah-blah humorous commentary and just spend more time showing the Rhino listening, feeling, reacting. Humans can remember what music actually is by watching Rhinos. I wonder if animals are listening to the musical sounds, or honing in on the inner emotional musician telephathy? Or Both? ...Musicians have to 'tune in' to play well with each other, but rarely realize thats what they're doing because it just feels so natural and normal.

    We play lots of (recorded) music at our house, and the cats and dogs often listen. Mozart is definitely the cats' favorite, particularly the bright, "twinkly" pieces with higher notes. A couple of them will come whenever Mozart is playing. I can tell when the animals are listening to the music, as they sit or lie a few feet in front of a speaker instead of in their beds/usual spots. Occasionally they form a little two-species arc, a semi-circle of furry music appreciators. This is many different animals over many years. If some cats get too rambunctious, I put some Mozart on.
