  • This one adjustment to your kettlebell swing makes all the difference for your back. Hold that lockout much longer than you think. Then the moment your arms regain contact with your ribcage, sit back QUICKLY! Then stand up QUICKLY. ...And then wait again-let the bell float, and fall, as you stand in your vertical plank.
Let there be no space between your arms and your torso on the hike, and notice how much safer and stronger this movement becomes.
Featuring Master SFG Zar Horton, at a special StrongFirst event.

When the instructor does the swings he goes back really far, and I’m unable to do that. Id say my ROM is half of that. Is it a hamstring flexibility issue on my part?

OK.... is no one going to address the championship belt hanging on the wall?
Is that a "SFG Heavyweight Technique Belt?" Because if so I see why Zar has it out

Can anyone explain the difference between this and pavels explanation where he talks about the hinge is like sitting down. They seem like different ways to hinge.

John, yes, it is just that Pavel's explanation has evolved over the years.

Try sitting down on a chair or bench that is 20-30cm away from you...you will hinge.

For very strong people, and/or people looking to replace a speed-deadlift day in their training with a heavy kettlebell swing, these weights can be appropriate. Try a web search on "heavy kettlebell swings as an alternative to speed deadlifts" and you can learn more about this.
