@@plap. The vast majority of vintage muscle cars are full restorations as opposed to bonafide originals. Fitting a ‘69 Mach 1 Mustang Fastback full-resto with a new, fully-worked, modern-day Boss 429 crate engine, a superior modern performance transmission / gearbox, along with an upgraded premium suspension and brake package won’t affect it’s value because it’s value is dependent upon the total cost of the build determined by the quality / aesthetics / performance of the relative materials demanded by the customer in conjunction with the cost of the build team’s ultimate amount of labour hours and the degree of eventual consumer demand for it’s unique build specs if placed on the market. A full restoration from the ground up, done properly, is an incredibly expensive undertaking and much more costly than purchasing an untouched original (which begin at approximately $90,00) because restos are quite simply, a far superior piece of motoring machinery in comparison to a used original ‘69 Mach 1, with it’s high mileage, antiquated 55yr old technology / equipment / performance / handling, when a completely upgraded resto is done properly. The ‘69 Mach 1 Mustang Fastback isn’t currently categorised as a “rare” car, so there are plenty of used examples available for purchase and the cost of an original is relatively inexpensive atm. Edit : Obviously, an original, accident free ‘69 Mach 1 in perfect condition, garaged it’s entire life, with extremely low mileage, in the most desirable format (429 manual Fastback) and the most sought after production colour combination will currently fetch up to $400,000 at auction.
@@Virvum_Juggernaut in many cases that is true such as a mach. You can take any mustang of this year and throw that money at it and make the car you are describing. @@plap. Man, I’m only referring to the Boss 429 and specifically, the 1969 version. Like I explained earlier, leaving the Boss 429 as stock as the day it was manufactured in 1969 when dropped into a Mach 1 Fastback, is only a financially worthy enterprise if the car itself is genuinely original, in mint condition (concourse), a 4-speed manual, remains untouched in every aspect, and has done fuck all miles. You can pick up high mileage versions (probably containing rust in the shelf panelling too) for well under $100K. A ‘69 Boss 9 in poor condition would cost a fucking fortune to restore to concourse standard by rebuilding it with all new, genuine OEM replacement parts. Working the engine on the shittier examples won’t dramatically alter their value because the amount of work the engine and running gear has seen travelling hundreds of thousands of miles over it’s long, hard life is the predominant deciding factor behind it’s discounted price. The average price of a 4-speed manual 1969 Mach 1 Boss 429 Fastback is $300K and 869 units were produced by Kar Kraft for FORD (who required 500 to be manufactured for homologation purposes in order to qualify the car for NASCAR). Edit : A man would be clinically insane not to fit a resto ‘69 Mach 1 with a newly built, technologically advanced, worked Boss 429 crate engine by Jon Kaase Racing Engines because they’re more economical and more reliable, but even more enticing is the fact that performance wise, they absolutely shit on the output of the original Boss 429 engines manufactured in ‘69 & ‘70.
