    So now you can crank up the AC in the turbo brick, put your lower jaw right up to the vent, and you’ll be even more of a chinchilla.
    Excellent video, thanks.

    I cant remember who said it but ive heard a few times that a parallel flow condenser is better for an R134A system, and a worthwhile upgrade when converting from R12 to R134A

    Hey, I'm using this video as a very helpful resource to help me redo my ac system in my Volvo. I just have a simple question, I noticed he only used one size hose for both the high and low side lines. Does anyone know if that matters if all hose lines are the same size, or if the low side has to be a larger hose and the high side has to be the smaller hose. When I removed my old system the hoses were 2 different sizes. Any input is appreciated, thanks.

      They are two different sizes, sorry if I didn't explain that. The low pressure side is pretty much always a larger hose. #8 and #10 in this case.

    At 42.30, why did the pressure switch pull in the compressor clutch if the system wasn't yet charged? ie didn't have pressure? Also, do those pressure switches always have a schrader valve? I'd like to change mine but don't want it to all leak out

    • @maxrodriguez3851
      @maxrodriguez3851 6 месяцев назад

      the compressor clutch is just an electromagnetic clutch. So its activated by electricity, it does not matter if the system is charged. Anytime the system is opened the pressure and Freon will leak out.

    How important is it for the reciever dryer to be close to the evaporator? I'm thinking about retrofitting an ac in my 740 -92 but to avoid having to tear out the dash, i'm thinking about putting the fan and evaporator in the trunk.

    • @maxrodriguez3851
      @maxrodriguez3851 6 месяцев назад

      I don't think it matters how close to the evaporator the receiver drier has to be, all it really does is catch moisture. But moving the evaporator and fan to the trunk, the hose lines will have to be long enough to make it back there. Also all the cool air will blow from the trunk, rather than on your face. so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    Did the diesels not get an aux electric fan on the front of the condensor/radiator? My '87 turbo had one (it was seized also the system was long empty). I guess without a high-pressure switch there'd be nothing to trigger it, I'm just curious.

    • @bakedbeansgarage116

      They did, I just haven't put it back yet. It only comes on with the coolant switch though, not the AC..

      Kinda, just about everything in the video applies to any car with AC.

      Frustratingly, the HT20 just won't break, so not at the moment. I do have a G10, 1886 and '50s Ride-a-matic that all need much love. I'll probably get to at least one of those this fall.

    Please connect the crankcase ventilation onto the sucktion side of the turbo, these engines do not like the excessive wear of having no propper pcv. Dieselpacko has a very good video about it, sadly in swedish only though :/
