    Like somone else Said, when you have turbo injectors (155 bar) the timing should be 0,90-0,95, N/A(130 bar) is 0,80-0,85

    • @bakedbeansgarage116
      @bakedbeansgarage116  11 месяцев назад +4

      Thanks! I'm pretty sure that's it. I bet that's roughly what I'll see when I go to check it based on how much I turned the pump. I know for a fact I have the correct 155 bar injectors idk how I wound up with .85, probably misread somewhere. We shall see.

      Timing do change, it very finicky. Just get it in. Have the right belt tension and than set the timing. I have mine set to .97 and it a 89 d24tic. It runs great.

      The plunger distance is indicated on the label pasted at the factory (on the 240 model it is located on the left wing amplifier in the engine compartment. Interestingly, electronic fuel injection has not yet been installed on this diesel . This diesel requires hydraulic compensator valves. Good luck!

      @@bakedbeansgarage116 There is a German video about the VE6 pump, where the cams and plunger diameter are different in height . A 12 mm plunger is installed , and the diesel cooling is redone .

    Sometimes European auto parts specialists have the nice seamless hose clamps that you'll see OEM on many German or Swedish cars. They often say "ABA Sweden." I use them on everything just because I love the way they look, and they probably are good for hose durability. My local boating part store sells them. Most of the cars I work on are American or Japanese, and almsot all had spring clamps. I don't trust them for another use by the time I need to repalce radiator hoses.
    I love that you repalced certain hoses with copper pipe. Many cars made since the 1990s have coolant hoses with plastic fittings where a tee is needed. Those usually crack. VW guys frequently make metal replacements for the popular VWs. If you have a GTI, they probably make a metal coolant fitting to replace plastic junk.

  • @KarlHaase
    @KarlHaase 5 месяцев назад

    FYI: The coolant valve should fail open so that the heater core always gets coolant, the vacuum should close it.

    Before timing your injection pump you need to disconnect the cold start valve. Which gives you about 0,10 - 0,15 more timing depending on how cold your coolant is. The cold start valve affects your static timing.

    When adjusting the injection pump timing disconnect the cold start arm!
    Also if the needle moves clockwise and then moves slightly back ccw, you have jumped a cycle causing it to run how it did for you. The correct timing for a TIC is 0.90 - 0.97 with perfect at 0.95.
    Thats what ive ran in -20 to +40c weather for many years.

      Thanks for mentioning this! I forgot to mention it, but it was disengaged when I timed it. I think you can see it briefly in the video. My very imprecise yank on the IP set it to about .94 she's dialed now.

    greetings from sweden again! I should point out a thing based on the vacuum pump issue. Your head is not a D24TD head it's for an N/A engine and that is why you have a differant pin i think late N/A engines have the bigger pin. i would guess that your cam i also from an N/A engine and has higher lift than a TD cam.

    I have one of these engines in a landrover it seems to run sweet but smokes ( Black) at start up especially if not started for a few weeks is that bad...??? could it be something like valve guide seals?? she revs freely and no weird noises etc...

    • @bakedbeansgarage116
      @bakedbeansgarage116  18 дней назад

      The smoke is black and not blue? Does it smell like oil or diesel? Could be valve guises, but that would be blue oil smoke.
      Either way, they're just smoky engines, so you're probably fine as long as it's not thick white smoke.

    I thought it interesting that to work barefoot, but I guess there are freaks for feet out there. I just don’t get that or care to understand it.
    One thing I did thoroughly enjoy as a nostalgic moment was that startup. It made me remember my dad’s 1984 760GLE turbo diesel.
    I mentioned it in a previous comment that is was one of one in California and my sister totaled it.
