    Let us know your thoughts below why biking is not as big as it once was with the younger generation?
    Also some good cafe racer style biker cafes we should visit on our upcoming series?

    Great film guys, im 63 and a T120 rider, its so good to see young lads the next generation on these modern classics enjoying the Uk countryside and the freedom these machines give you. Trust me these memories will last forever. Looking forward to the next one

    I am 64 years old, did most of my riding in the late 70's to mid 80's, then it seemed most bikers were in their late teens to 30's, went a lot of years without a bike then bought a Triumph Daytona 16 years ago, (which I still own but for various reasons rarely ride), and was surprised to find most fellow riders were at least as old as me. I agree with Chompwat in that there may have been a cultural shift, as for insurance costs, it's also very expensive for young drivers to insure cars. Another point that interests me is that back in the day bikers were almost social pariahs with many pubs having "polite" Motorcyclists by Appointment Only signs outside - can't remember the last time I saw one of those !
    Thoroughly enjoyed your video - many thanks, sorry for rambling on a bit.

      Hi Robert, thanks for the insight, I enjoyed reading your ramblings so no worries there! Glad to see you're still getting out on the bike and interesting to learn about the culture of pubs back into he day. Glad you enjoyed our vid, stick around for more to come! 🙌

      Most people in their 20s and 30s are in hundreds of thousands of pounds in debt because of housing crisis, student debts and low wages so expensive toys are low down on priorities.
      I'm lucky, I'm 30 and have a very well paid job but I am certainly the exception for most. Most of my friends will still be trying to buy a house into their 40s.

    Nice one lads. It's great to see the youf of today out and about 👍. I was up in the lakes on Monday, then again I'm an old man whose also retired so, it's dead easy to get out . As for the thing about younger peeps on bikes, I think it's a combination of the cost and the time it takes to get a full licence. By the way I'm nearly 69 and I ride a BMW R1250RS! Old and daft🤣🏍.

      We’re young and daft, deffo on the same road just a little further behind ya mate.
      100%, need such a combination of things to fall into place. If it wasn’t for lockdown pausing our out goings we would have struggled, the hard thing is inspiring folk our age to see the fun side of biking which isn’t on RUclips. Hopefully we’re filling that gap 🤘🏻. Be sure to drop a sub for more

      As long as you enjoy it, biking will never leave you. I passed my test mid 70s but, because of different reasons didn't have a bike for a long time, I've been back into it properly for the last six years and, enjoying every minute of getting out and about. I think I mentioned to you after your Scotland trip about getting abroad, it's definitely got to be on your wish list. I'm looking forward to the next instalment, they are really entertaining 👍🏍.

    Great timing finding this awesome vid guys as I’ve just ordered my Speed Twin for delivery in a couple of months.
    Education to 18, crap minimum wage for under 21’s, inflated second hand prices, out of reach new prices and astronomic insurance rates. Just a few reasons why youngsters are not getting in to bikes like they used to. Subbed.

    • @NoPlaceToBe.
      @NoPlaceToBe.  Год назад +1

      Nicely timed indeed Chompy, I'm sure the speed twin won't disappoint 👌 some good points here, all economic themed points which are spot on. Do you think there is also a cultural shift meaning people no longer desire these bikes in the first place too? Or is the marketing simply not reaching this generation? It definitely took me a lot of research to find these bikes once I got hooked 🤔🤔

    • @Chompwat
      @Chompwat Год назад +2

      I think there is merit in the l cultural shift theory as well as economic constraints. When I was a teenager most of my mates had mopeds at 16, and bigger bikes at 17. 250cc on l plates. Cars generally came later.
      My son is 19, has bought a Scrambler 900. He has a good job fortunately. He took his A1 tests on a 125, then his A2 when he reached 19. So far he has taken CBT, passed a theory test and taken four further tests all at considerable expense. One he is 21 he’ll have to take two more tests. His insurance for the 900, restricted to 47hp was £1600 thus year. Both my lads are Bike mad but it is in their genes 😂. There is just no encouragement for kids to get in to biking these days. Sorry for the lengthy reply. But this is something I’m quite passionate about.

      Glad to hear you are passing the biking passion to your lads 🙌 the insurance is nuts, it was the same of for us insuring the speed twin and t120 at 24 yo, we had to pay upwards of £1200 which is crippling, like you said it was £1000 just to pass the direct access course too, never mind buying your bike and gear. We really want to get more young people into biking so thanks for the passionate response as you say 🙏

    Subscribed👍 A fellow Bonneville rider and loving the relaxed vlog style. As a 62 year old I have fond memories of being out on a bike with my mates as a 17 year old. To be honest the bike option was as much a cost decision as one of lifestyle. We simply couldn’t afford a half decent car but an old 125 or 250 was ‘easily’ affordable. These days I think young people have higher expectations as well as relatively higher disposable income than we had. That added with the ongoing cool car culture involving the major car brands makes biking less cool and a little too ‘primitive’ not to mention too dangerous for most. It’s a shame as there are some cracking bikes coming out of India at the moment as well as there being a good selection of older bikes to get you started. Keep riding and remember, those double whites are there for a reason😂

      Thanks for the sub, really helps.
      Ye agree with them points, us personally I think biking, especially modern classics, needs to have so much more of an appeal than just the bike. It’s a accumulation of that hipster style, tattoos, bikes, music, fashion etc… that for us is how you convince a 25 year old to part with 10k

      Thanks dude, matt rides a T120 comfortably and he's around 6'1"/2". I'd say the T120 is probably best, but give them both a test ride as it can be very subjective 👍

    When you do the biker cafe locations, list the what3words address… would also be cool to pop them up regular through the videos should we want to follow your travels.

    Not sure about the UK, but a few mates and I had that conversation recently and we've actually noticed that younger people ( at 47 I know some, but aren't one..lol) who live in the city around our parts in Brisbane, The Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast who have access to good public transport and UBER etc are starting to buy bikes for the weekends and adventures and just not have a day to day car.... although perhaps the weather in our parts is a little drier than your neck of the woods😂😂

    Cars are cheap and dry.
    Getting your 125 nicked is common. Getting your license is convoluted.
    Those are just a few to be getting on with. Same for bike racing in the uk...although BSB is possibly the best series out there, the interest and gates figures show it's very much a niche sport.
    Also, when lots of teenagers zipped around on 50CC bikes then 125s n 250s and 400s and 750s (pretty much post-war - 1990s) there were fewer distractions/hobbies. Now young people have plenty of other options when it comes to investing their time, money and having fun.
    Not all is gloomy as all bikes are factually more fun than cars. Can't argue with the physics.

    Young people don't ride because of money. Student debts, 40 year mortgages, extortionate travel costs, extortionate childcare, worthless pensions and slave wages. I'm sure lots of young people would like to ride but paying so much money for a toy is difficult when most people in their 20s are in hundreds of thousands in debt. Old people had everything cheap so had way more expendable income to enjoy themselves
