    My little brother's knee just kind of split in the middle a few years so I invited him to come check out the Bolt Action club because he couldn't run around like a normal kid anymore. He thought it was pretty cool after the demo, so everyone in the club pooled together our pocket change and we bought him a Soviet starter army. He recovered faster than we all thought, so it ended up in his closet, but he's entering high school now and he asked me to help him finish building his 400 infantry or whatever the insane number of men in that box is. We played a couple of games on the dinner table, and he's totally ready to drop by the club again this Saturday.

      Glad your brother's knee recovered. As someone who had chronic knee trouble for years, I understand how debilitating it can be. (For the record, had a surgery a few years ago, and my knee hasn't given me much trouble since. Got into bike riding recently.)
      Oh, and congrats on them finally getting into Bolt Action.

    Does anyone else do that thing when they're showing off a new game and you let the other person if not outright auto-win, you make sure the odds are stacked against you to give them a good feeling, like Mordian Gorly was suggesting... Only to give them the confidence to continue utterly smashing you when you think "mission accomplished now I bring my A game."

    Great video. Thanks for showcasing my army. Bolt action has been growing amongst my locals solely because a few of us just started playing it. We show it off and answer questions from those who ask. Price point is certainly appealing to people.

      You know what man I'm exactly the same just the other way round, I'm just done with 40K at the moment. I love the models, the lore, and the setting but the game and the way the company's run just feels exploitative. They can just fuck off with all the DLC.
      But I still really enjoy listening to mordian glory tactics videos and tournament reports, I'm a bit confused to why.
      But I'll still always collect guard and add to my force, maybe 10th edition will be the hard reset to get me back into the game. Are you not just a little bit tempted by bolt action?

    Not sure if it's a difficult question, but why would you pick Bolt Action over Flames of War ? Except the size of the models. Is it only the fact BA is more squad sized compared to battalion size for FoW? I'm genuinely curious.

    • @tobiasproulx4920
      @tobiasproulx4920 2 года назад +2

      Im wondering the same thing, Flames of war seems a lot more fun and kind of grand scheme like Warhammer 40k

      Haven’t played FoW. But they are completely different game systems and game level. Bolt Action is a platoon level game. Meaning you are “closer” to the action. Which would be closer to 40k. FoW is a battalion level game. You are almost playing as arm chair general. Different feeling and strategy for each game. Just my 2 cent.

    • @samb2052
      @samb2052 2 года назад +2

      FoW has started following the GW model of never ending updates, all of which cost you. It seems to be going off the boil. More importantly, it’s an I go, You go game with no overwatch/opportunity fire. That means you might as well leave the room and put the kettle on while your opponent moves. Lots of better games for company and battalion level. Bolt Action is much more interactive and a lower level, meaning you don’t need so many figures. I play BA in 15mm which makes it even cheaper and allows me to have multiple forces.

      @@soysaucehobbies2703 you're playing frontline major at best ;) every single miniature is one solider/cannon/tank.
      All in all, maybe Bolt is better for Wh40k players, because most of my friends who play FoW despise Bolt Action as an inferior, Wh40k-like game.
      Summing up, if you play Wh40k and want similar experience in non-fiction setting, play Bolt. If you want something different and -possibly- more challenging, play FoW.

      @@pikciwok6360 lol.😂 Yes. As mentioned never play FoW. But agreed. It is definitely a beer and pretzel game. Its a great place for 40k refugees to get started in historical side of mini wargames I believe.

    I’ve been wishing to buy BA minis, and there is a little interest towards BA K47 at my local wargamers assossiation.
    Luckily, I have spotted our local hobby store’s webstore showing BA and K47 kits for commission orders (aka. ”not available straight from shelves”).
    Personally I am planning on starting with Germans (as I have plans on using them in my planned separate stop motion YT channel along with other minis I have in 28mm range [excluding my 40k minis now stores into ”box of shame”, Thanks to GW’s anti-fan-animations policy]), but I also fancy on building kit bashed Finnish as well. (Having both can be used into demo gaming as situation of ”Lapland war”, where Soviet demanded Finland to chase off / pursuit Germans out)
    Speaking of kitbashing…
    How far off are afrika korps Germans from Blitzkrieg Germans in wargear/webbing/equipment vice? Just asking out of curiosity.
    I have heard of people kitbashing Finnish infantry out of Blitzkrieg Germans (as well as some separately bought heer infantry sprues according to one article page I found from WG community websites) by cutting off the gasmask pouch from chest and swapping weapons with Soviet weapons.

    Imma be real, ive had my eye on bolt action for a while but im torn between 2 options.
    1) im thinking of starting a polish 1939 army cus im really into polish ww2 equipment and vehicles (and im also polish myself.
    2) either the afrika korps or German grenadiers starter sets.
    Any advice on which one I should do?

    • @isaacchapman7628
      @isaacchapman7628 2 года назад +2

      Grab the Germans first. The Polish are all metal, meaning they're much more expensive and I don't think they even have a starter army.

    • @dannyhalas9408
      @dannyhalas9408 2 года назад

      The Polish are really expensive because of the global price of pewter, I brought a Polish army like a year and half ago. The infantry squads are now twice as expensive. £25 from warlord, although you can get a little bit of a discount if you can find a third-party vendor that sells Polish stuff. Also a Polish army is gonna be quite big because you get really nice cheap armour and tankettes. And of course no Polish army is complete without the Polish cavalry, total killers on the battlefield with their lances. I think a Polish army with a support box, a couple of resin tanks (think forgeworld but way cheaper) and Polish cavalry will probably set you back £200 - £250.
      Pocket change for a guard player but you could buy three separate thousand point bolt action starter armies for that money. And there's the danger that a cool Polish plastic kit could come out in the future. I never thought we'd see an Italian or french plastic kit.
      The Africa Korps is probably the one to go for, it's an amazing plastic kit, very modern. You even get a couple of special weapons teams on the sprue. There's an 88 in the box, the tank is a Panzer III pretty good all-rounder tank. And the infantry are very versatile, you don't have to paint them up as Africa Krops troops. They wore the same uniforms in the Caucasus in Russia, it's very hot in southern Russia. But of course Rommel against the eighth Army and just so Iconic.
      I buy my stuff from a bolt action Facebook trading group called "Bolt Action Buy Sell And Swap" There's a trader on there who has some amazing prices. Thousand point British Airborne Army, £41. Africa Korps Starter Army £59. He's even got all the Polish kits for a great prices. The trader's name is David Frederick.
      In fact another option is to go Polish airborne? The British Airborne starter army has all the parts to make your guys Polish.
