    Used too remember the pleasure beach in the early 2000'S! it was more magical then Disney. A super busy park, the searchlights on top of the casino building, the chaser lights on the lift hills, kit kat radio, the late closes. The park was something else! Just cant seem too recapture the magic that used too be plentiful at the park. Walking as a child down tom sawyer bridge, between the two spin doctors was something I will never forget, wish I could go back!!!!

      @Happyfaceshock 4 года назад +1

      Yeah I feel very much the same as you and had very much the same experiences! The park is very different now. It's lost a lot of its individuality somehow, and some of the magic has gone. The Pleasure Beach used to be this wonderful yet weird mash up of different worlds and it really pushed for that. Nower days it seems a lot more tame (they ruined Valhalla for example) and a lot more.... Commercial. Those late nights were the best. I remember as a kid running round and round and round on the Pepsi Max and the Grand National, no queues, just me and a bunch of other kids just experiencing coaster heaven. Last 2 times I've been I never even made it on the Pepsi Max cos of the queues and then it shuts at 6. Such a shame.

I'm utterly shocked to see the Log Flume and Cable Cars gone. They were iconic!! btw you missed out the Fun House, I loved that and it was gone in a fire some years ago, I was watching as it burnt. An obvious insurance job to clear the space for a new ride as they couldn't just destroy it becaue it was a listed building.

      Hi I agree with you both it might be the best theme park in the UK .
      The Pleasure Beach used to attract people to Blackpool who would visit the theme park.and then spend money else where for example fast food ,arcade pier ect.
      It's all or nothing now people spend that much to get Into the theme park they just spend the hole day there I bet there is a younger generation who have been and never walked up the prom, piers ect and seen the tower.
      Never been since you have had to pay as my other half does not like fast rides so he would be a waste of money.!

    I think the ride you are referring to was called "THE POLO TOWER", later moved to Morecambe theme park. Basically, it was an observation capsule, that rotated slowly, and rose to the top of a high mast. Apparently, the remains of it still stand in what was the old Morecambe theme park.

    • @GMMilambar
      @GMMilambar 4 года назад

      It stood for a while because of a contract that permitted Vodafone to place cellular masts around the top of it. When that contract ended, it was allowed to fall into disrepair, and was finally demolished in 2017 after it became unsafe.

    I remember back in 89 when the lads and I where 14/15 year olds. We went to Blackpool for a day out and hit some of the bars lol. When we got to the Pleasure Beach, the gravity wheel in the dome was full of girls so some of our gang jumped on it in an attempt to impress. I knew better as I was feeling a bit iffy thanks to the beer. The ride kicked off and one of the lads was sick, it went everywhere lol. After that the ride was known as Food Blender! Classic times.

    Fun house - Burned down the laughing man was moved further into the park. Noahs Ark, at the entrance, that used to be a walk through ride. There was also a ride near the start of cable cars / next to water chute. which was like giant circular gondolas they took you to the top of a run then you went from one side of the ride to the other descending around a sharp corner with each "step" down, the ride span as you descended.. On the bridge in 70s were cages you could rock and swing in and try and go all the way over. And where the avalanche is used to be ponies, you could ride around a course (slowly) plus a Llama pulling a cart.

      I can go back further. Where the avalanch is now, used to be pony rides and just by the monorail entrance you could get a ride in a cart pulled by a Llama . Other side of where avalanch is now was golf course. I guess I was lucky as my Grandad was one of the chief electricians in 1920s, so he told me a lot about the place. The other bonus was living right behind it, going to school at Thames road Primary. I got to watch it every day. So near and so far. Man I used to love spending all day in the Funhouse on a saturday for £1.50. I took the kids this summer to BPB and had a great time. We live in Blackpool too and I can honestly say it's the only really decent place to take the kids. Everywhere else is a fraction of the fun or simply an arcade. I do wish they would let people eat in Burger King without entry fee though :(

      £1.50 must've not been cheap back then unless it was that price to spend the whole day at the park back then

    Great video,god that takes me back to when i was a teenager and used to travel there from where i live (150 miles away). 1 ride that i didnt see in your video that i'm sure they once had but is long gone is the huss rainbow! Remember that? I'm sure it used to stand facing the sea somewhere near the main entrance not far from the flying machine but enjoyed the vid so much.

    My father used to take me here as a child. We'd always start off on some ride that was at the top of the white building near the entrance to the par. It was a ride that consisted of slowly moving cars suspended from a track, that moved through a series of puppet and sound shows. Then we'd ride the monorail, after which I'd ride the ferris wheel, then walk through Noahs Ark.
    Just a side note, was not the water chute originally purchased from the Belle Vue Zoo in Manchester, when it went bankrupt?

    Back in the late 70's and 80's there were quite a few rides on the south end of the park that were concessions. They paid rent to the park to put their rides there. The Galloper / Carousel was owned and run by Silcocks. There was also the Orbiter, Ben Hur pictured in the video. Several children's rides there was a children's ferris wheel and a few others. Down in the dip, where the loop for the Revolution is there was also a cinema 180 swinging gyms and Paratrooper and a Helter Skelter, all concessions. There were others but I can't remember them all
    The Tom Sawyer ride was in the lake under the Log Flume.

    I've not managed to visit Blackpool pleasure beach for a couple of years, used to go every couple of years! I'm not a fan of these thrill rides that are everywhere now, the Grand National is as scary as I can take, so its sad to hear that some of the more quirky rides have closed since I have been. I used to love walking around Noah's Ark and was sad it closed. Goldmine was fun, as was the Log Flume and Trauma Towers. Definately went on the Whip and Turtle Chase once too.
