It can be a struggle to find smelts in the spring. Eric has a freezer converted for bait. When they start getting scarce he'll fill the freezer so we have a stock pile. Big thing is to keep in touch with bait dealers so you know when they will stop getting them. We also stock up on preserved smelts for when we can't find live ones. Thanks for watching.
@@PineStateHunter Cool. I have a list of 100's and 60's to pick up the end of this month at Kittery in addition to DB smelt. Best spoons i've used for our eastern salmonids.
Northeast Troller makes them. We heard good things about them so thought we would try the lures out this year. Have not used them enough to form an opinion but have caught fish with them.
Guys went and got a fancy boat even. Awesome!
We definitely needed it. LOL had a couple nervous days in the old boat. Thank you very much
Can you tell me where to find the smelt you’re using here which you share with the helpful fellow fishermen

Awesome job you two! Keep the videos coming
Thank you! Hopefully we can get back on top of them
I really enjoy watching you two! Good trip for sure!
Glad you enjoyed it
Great job keep after them
You know it, Thanks for watching.
Always the best videos here!
We are always trying to get better at it, Glad you like them Craig.
You guys are in some good salmon!! Looks like you have them dialed in!
We did well that day but trust me when I say we have our fair share of off days as well. Tight lines.
Where in maine are you fishing. I live in Maine
We travel all over but mostly fish central and western Me. Thanks for watching.
I live in Portland ME and I've been trying to catch some trout and salmon but I fish off the banks and rivers.
That lake looks awfully familiar... Gotta summer house there🤔. Outside Brewer?lmao!
Could be. We don't try to conceal where we fish, but don't like to promote a lake either. Some local fishermen hate that.
That's one big dippsy diver you have in the bow of the boat
We keep that there just in case the fish are staying on bottom.
Great video. I usually troll pretty slow with smelt but never use lures because I thought I was moving too slow, but I'll have to try them.
Definitely a first for myself as well. Definitely warrants further investigation
was that a size 40 NE troller gold wonderbread? if so, i may have to upgrade mine. i usually run the 100's and 60's.
It was a size 60 I don't believe I have the copper Wonder Bread in size 40

Nice edit guys, great day out. Keep the awesome content coming. 👌👍
Thank you Adam
How far back do you like to put your lure or bait from the dodger?
Hey Taylor, We usually run the bait or lure about 20" to 30" inches behind the dodger. Thanks for watching.
@@PineStateHunter Thank you, there is never a bad day fishing when out on the water and breathing that fresh Maine Air. Great video, love to see more.
Awesome day! How fast you boys trolling the bait usually?
We try to keep it between 1.0mph to 1.3mph when the water is cold. Thanks for watching.
Turkey hunting this year? Loading the truck today with gear.
Yes we are. Eric has some live bait that we need to use up then we'll hit the woods for turkeys. Good luck hunting.
Can you tell me who makes that lucky lure of yours, that brass with the different color spots? Keep up the awesome videos

@@PineStateHunter , northeast trollers work👍
What speeds do you troll them at? So far we've done 1.2 + 1.5 and had some success.
How fast u guys trolling
We try to stay about 1mph to 1.3mph, Thanks for watching.
Which lake is this ?
Sorry John, we don't disclose fishing locations.
