The context of when this album was released is also an important factor to who she is/was as an artist. The confidence, emotion, lyrics, edginess, soul and female empowerment she had for this time was well, way ahead of her time and in fact, it’s way ahead of her time now.

Alanis Morrisette... the queen of the 90's pop rock scene. Literally every female (and it's not really limited to gals) who was a teen or older at the time LOVED Alanis Morrisette, ond for good reason! She was like the next Janis Joplin or Tina Turner... she was the voice for a generation who wanted to be heard.
Having heard this song quite a few times, I never knew Dave and Flea played on it... actually dope. (And as others have pointed out, the drummer bring Pre-Foo Taylor Hawkins is ALSO sick as hell!)
My dude said, "I love when artists throw in lyrics that are shocking (bizarre)" and Alanis immediately drops an F bomb 😄😄😆😆
I feel like I had heard the story about Dave Coulier but if that's true.... wow. What a connection...
That Full House intro 😆😆🤣🤣 Gotta love those old 90's sitcom intros!

Mid/late 90s was a time when female rock singers were at the top of their game. Alanis, Meredith Brooks, Fionna Apple, Shirley Manson’ (Garbage), Gwen Stefani (in No Doubt), Dolores O'Riordan (in The Cranberries)... Even Sheryl Crow was mainstream.

Yeah, you don't know how out-of-left-field this was when it came out. This girl pulled no punches with her lyrics and most of the songs on the record are just great, and the few that aren't great are still solid. I was in high school when this came out and even though I was a huge Metalhead I just loved it and listened to it front to back all the time. It really changed my views on music and made me really aware for the first time of how a female p.o.v. could be as edgy as anything the dudes I admired at the time could do, and how that female p.o.v. could certainly go way beyond simply the lyrics and bleed over the music itself, if that makes sense. To this day, a coupe of times a year, I give the whole record a listen and enjoy every minute of it. She's a really unique artist.

Even more so because prior to this she was a super wholesome teen bubblegum pop star. She was a big deal in Canada. So when this came out it was as if Mandy Moore got a bunch of piercings and joined Hole. Utterly shocking.
