I LOVE this song, I had a friend named Jesse who passed from suicide. This song has brought me so much comfort these past few years. Thank you for bringing this song into the world.
It’s been a few years and I was working up in Jersey and lived in Knoxville .. so I was driving up and down I-81 .. every week or so .. at some point in Virginia at every overpass there was in big red letters “I love you Jesse , and I’m sorry, etc…. I mean this person had sprayed it on everything for 20-30 miles…. Obsessed 😂😂 I mean they put in some hours and few cases of paint, time and miles.. … I was impressed with the psycho.. I mean they were committed.. Anyway I love the song and it always makes me laugh and takes me back … thank ur songs are awesome.. love both albums
Neat to hear the process. Honestly, the acoustic version of Jesse you play in the truck grabbed ahold of my soul. One of my top 10 songs of all time. The album version absolutely loses something special. Don't get too caught up in the studio and the production. You make magic with your voice and guitar twining by themselves. Please don't lose that in the studio.
from the context I’d assume she’s in bed crying with a wool blanket pulled over her face. “You’ve made your bed now you can sleep tight” which is what made me assume that and think about a wool blanket lol.
My favorite song of yours! What are the chances that was somewhere around Beckley? That’s where I’m from, and man I would love to try and take a picture with the inspiration for the song!
Brother I'm not at all saying that isn't what the song is about. It's so great I've listened to it over and over and over. It's just that when I first listened to it you couldn't tell me it wasn't a kickass murder ballad like "Kate McCannon" or "Crooked Teeth"! It was you singing in the car and it just came across super spooky for some reason. At least that was my first interpretation of the piece. Thanks foraking music dude it absolutely rocks!
From Canada . You are amazing brother. Just ordered your vinyl and some shirts. Get ready cuz you're gonna blow up

This hits deep to me
Thanks man, this is really interesting, one question. Why is she said to have had “wool covered eyes”?
