Recently discovered CWG as he has made more of a name for himself in the Indie Country scene. I kinda thought I hat "Jesse" and the narrator were one and the same person. With Jesse being the person he was when whatever happened with the girl did and now he's changed and is essentially a different person. This also fits in with your drug user concept Don.
