Alexandra and Steve are two members of the community that are doing a fantastic job working to reach their goals, and I asked them if I could showcase a snippet of a video. Thankfully, they said yes!
In 30+ years I've never heard anyone suggest learning which keys the open strings work with, and then using that to your advantage. That's some good thinking.
Michael, before i found you on youtube i was just a struggling mediocre at best rythm guitar player. You have taught me about scales and chord variations i never knew existed. I actually had stopped playing guitar for several years because i wasnt getting better in my playing. You have inspired me to play again and teach in a way that is understood. My guitar playing has improved durastically. I have started taking lead lines without sound like just noise. I have you to thank for that sir. Keep doing you!
I been playing guitar for 35 years and i understand how this makes you feel. watching someone Progress and Enjoy it is the Best. THis almost made me cry, Great Video. And all my kids know how to play.
Are we not even going to mention that Alexandra pitched her starting note for each scale perfectly, without first playing the note to pitch it!? You go, girl!
I just love you, Michael. I learned about you when Jim Campilongo posted your "reaction" video to one of his performances. Jim is a friend of decades now, we played together in San Francisco which is where he is originally from. Well, Jim "played", I am a singer. I'm rolling into being 60 years old and have been playing guitar for 55 years. Not well, mind you, even if I have occasionally played guitar in my bands because people like that singer/guitar business. Anyhow, I'm so intrigued by you that I signed up for your courses and have been training daily. The Steve video here is so relevant to my learning curve as well. This morning I played my first lead in a song that I've been writing in EM. It's got a Flamenco vibe and I'd recently decided to practice on the E minor scale. I've been doing it so much and so consistently (with a metronome, I will add) that I pretty effortlessly pulled of the first lead I've ever played in - literally - 55 years of playing. So, there you have it. Michael, you turned a light on for me and I am forever grateful. Your friend Gina Del Vecchio in San Francisco!
She is going to be a BEAST!! She will be able to sing and play at the same time before this is all said and done and not many can do that as you know. Great Job Alexandra!!

Alexandra alternate picking on her scales! Awesome!!!
Nothing is more gratifying than watching someone grow into something they want to be!!!
Boy if one would have had a real teacher! Grabbed my first guitar at age 10. 50 Years later have i reached the level of "campfire annoyance"
Freaking rock on! Alexandra pulled up the circle! That is so damn cool! And Steve nailed it! Great post, my friend! This one was especially enjoyable!
My hair is standing up after hearing Steve... One of my fav all time songs, MP! Thanks for sharing!
