i know Im randomly asking but does any of you know a tool to log back into an instagram account..? I stupidly lost the account password. I would love any tips you can give me.
Nailed it re: hooks! Spafford are MASTERS at creating mini-hooks within their songs. It sounds composed but it's not. It's just their skills and creativity. They write as they jam...just incredible.
A musician myself, from the first time I heard Spafford, it drew me in immediately. Everything about these guys is phenomenal. I've only had the privilege of seeing them a few times but its epic. #superpros in every aspect
I'm a huge Spafford fan. I've seen Phish 200+ times and I still think Trey (and Phish) created a ton of composed music that I had thought was mostly lost in the death of Prog Rock and Zappa level compositions. Spafford (as a team) creates as exciting of compositions that I have ever heard and when they go into Jams, their ability to "hook up" or get into a true "in the zone" groove is amazing. Spafford is way more than a jam band. They write very very cool music, and instrumentals, and deep tracks, and drop great covers. Everyone should see Spafford when they are in town if you love great musicians.
Dude I love that somebody can finally put into words what I've been hearing in these bands for decades. I've never been about to explain well enough why they are so good. Thanks bruh
The Moss boss can shred! Excited to watch this one. These guys quickly became my favorite band back in 2018. Have been to 20+ show since. These guys can play.
Caught these guys opening for umphreys back in like 2015 and it was the first time I'd ever heard them and I was like holy fuck who the hell is spafford
I saw them for the first time in 2017 in Asheville with Leftover Salmon. They took the night. Been hooked ever since. I’ve seen every show within 3 hours of me. I think my total right now is around 15-20. They fucking kill.
Cam IS way better than Nick. Cam is one hell of a drummer. I'm pretty sure Brian wanted Cam gone because started getting more attention than him, and Cam wouldn't play worse so Brian could be the center of attention again. That's why Brain would lose his shit at Cam on stage... Brian felt like he was being upstaged by Cam.
Dude I love your channel I just discovered it about 2 hrs ago It’s now 7am and it all started w your video on brown eyed woman and I was at that same dead and co. Show at Bristow!!
Each of these incredibly talented musicians are so great. Its awesome to see the expressions when your listening to this and describing them. These feelings and descriptions are exactly why this band is my absolute favorite. Thanks for the share of this video.
Someday I hope someone says "he is the one that is stitching the warm blanket" when talking about my playing, haha. Newer to your channel, but digging these videos. Giving me lots to think about even on songs I've heard a million times. You've got a new subscriber! Thanks man.
Love love love this video. Spafford is one of my favorites. Brian really has the chops. I love you breaking down the videos, but I also lovee you playing along. Some of my favorite parts. Keep these videos up man
Pumped you got to check out Spafford! I toured with the guys as their monitor engineer 2017-18 and they were a pleasure to work with every day. First and foremost was the importance of how they were represented sonically in the room and recording, they are very particular about their sound for sure and it shows. Spafford certainly opened my eyes to the world of Jam music and I am thankful! Beautiful music and solid dudes. Try and see them live when they hit the road again after all this craziness.
Forced myself out of the house last March 10 days after having my hip replaced to see these guys for the first time in Portland. Saw them again in Dewey Beach over the summer, only got one song repeated. These guys are incredible. Give Ghost Light a listen, big jams and segues... make you wait for it.
I have been so lucky to have had Spafford here in AZ for the past 10 years. Believe it or not the tightness and sound this band produces hasn't changed since I first started watching them in the Sail Inn in Tempe. Glad you picked up on it and enjoyed!
Love your reactions to all the little things! I totally understand what you're talking about its hard to put into words but those textured hooks made perfect sense to me! Spafford is up and coming for sure and only getting better
I really enjoy your content! Spafford kills it. Great breakdown on this one. I really like Jordan Fairless' bass style/tone also. I'm a bass player myself. Keep doing what you're doing bud!👍
Mike, Thanks for bringing to light groups and musicians that are reminiscent of the heyday of music. Mid late 60's thru early 80's. Beastie Boys in my opinion ushered in the end of music and lyrics. Just turned 63, my kids are discovering the magic contained within the analog of vinyl. Just passed along my collection to my daughter who can't believe what's she's been missing from digital versions like those from Fleetwood Mac. Thanks again.
"Hello relative major our old friend", you are getting me thru this lockdown brother thank you. Never heard of this band, and I was grooving out, will check them out. Peace
If anybody wants to hear this amazing show it is on nugs.net. for streaming or download. This postman is part of a 4 song second set with the last 3 songs clocking in at about 51 minutes ( 19 + 19 + 13). Enjoy.
Howdy Michael. I know this is off topic, but wanted to say how awesome last nights live stream of Dinner and a Movie was. Absolutely the highlight of my month so far and I really really needed something like that. I'm telling every damn person I know to check your content out. Thanks brother.
This is great, love to see this dudes mind opening up to jam bands! You can tell it’s clicking for him. I’d like to see one of these for all the other hot jam bands: Umphreys McGee, Moe, Twiddle, goose, pigeons playing ping pong, Lotus, STS9, aqueous etc
I highly lead out that you'll get a lot of requests for Ekoostikic Hookah but they're definitely worth a listen. I grew up listening to the band and have family ties with them they're great people. You should check out Life Is Good by Ekoostic Hookah ft Moe. Loving the content so much! Keep it up!
If you like this you'd like the Disco Biscuits. you should give House dog party favor, hot air balloon or once the fiddler paid a try, among so many others
Hope it clicks with him because the jam vehicle tDBs provide is very unique and shoots you to the darkest corners of space. They aren't the most talented band but they definitely are the most sauced and my favorite.
If there is going be one thing that gets me through all this social distancing it will be the phrase " Summing Sasquatch". That comment during the peak of Brian Moss's solo made my smile wrap all the way around my head. Thanks Michael!!!!
They are pretty spectacular. They get compared to Phish, Moe and Umphrey's and I hear that for sure, but they certainly have thier own thing going and they've got some chops. I've only seen them live once, but will def do so again when the opportunity arises. Have you reacted to any Aqueous? How about Consider the Source? If you want some real WTF moments, check out Consider the Source.... They get microtonal and base most stuff off of non western concepts, while still rocking hard.
Echoing @Faron Square. You should do a video on Consider the Source. Those guys are truly one of a kind. Hard to describe, but seriously some of the craziest music I've ever heard.
Chris Ericson was the FOH engineer at the time! He is a badass. The mix on the video is the board feed + room mics. His treatment and placements of all the tones on stage was freakin' masterful, glad you hear it!
I follow your reaction videos in some part because I get introduced to bands and groups that I have never heard of before. Like Spafford. My first thought is that they sound like Yes or have borrowed ideas from Yes or even Kansas. I am going to watch this video again to track the number of movements or sections. There is a lot going on here in The Postman.
This band is so good.... "that's the face, the face when your having a good time" I like how you show the general concept of complex licks, usually that's all i need to learn new things.
Love watching you get off on new bands. I have yet to see a moe. tune. Dueling guitars. Would be fun to see you gauge both of them and see what style u prefer. Chuck or Al side. Try rebubula or Brent black. Thanks for doing this. You’re killin it! (That’s a spaffnerd thing) you are.
Hey man just recently subscribed to the channel and your videos are awesome and super informative so thanks for taking your time and skill to do this. Would love to see you react to some Josh Smith, Ariel Posen or Joey Landreth i think they would be right up your wheelhouse, just incredibly talented musicians and vocalists and just killer people.
I've never heard of these guys! I love being enlightened. All kinds of flavors, prog Allman brothers Lol. Very kind of YES vibe and then.......... Interesting!
The weird time thing was a bar of 6 followed by a bar of 5. What's great is they really carry the groove so unless you're really listening closely it flows pretty well.
You're 100% right about the discipline. Finding those texture pocket grooves involves leaving a lot of space open. Small changes over time looking for a groove that hits then time for trading solo leads. Patience, patience, patience.
You are able to see and describe things that I like about this style of music that I didn't even know I was listening to
I think you would really enjoy Khruangbin. Gotta check this trio out. Rock solid drummer, grooving bass, lightspeed guitarist.
They are the shit!
yo he totally would love them
@@NYdetectingLightspeed is a reach, but theyre good!!
i know Im randomly asking but does any of you know a tool to log back into an instagram account..?
I stupidly lost the account password. I would love any tips you can give me.
@Boone Rowen instablaster ;)
Your expansive observations across such an array of topics/skills to analyse in these bands is very much appreciated. Thank you.

That’s my takeaway too. You just don’t sound that good by accident.
Don’t sleep on Fayetteville!! Arkansas’s hidden gem. I was at this show the venue George’s always pulls in great acts.
Like Kimock

yes!!! Spafford!
edkerry87 fuck yeah they rule
Dude I love that somebody can finally put into words what I've been hearing in these bands for decades. I've never been about to explain well enough why they are so good. Thanks bruh
One of the bands I'll actually travel to see. And you're 100% on the bass player he's probably my favorite bassist to vibe on live.
"Guitar Teacher Watches Jamband for First Time" ---- Loved the video and the appreciation for the music.
The Moss boss can shred! Excited to watch this one. These guys quickly became my favorite band back in 2018. Have been to 20+ show since. These guys can play.

It’s fun to see you get jazzed about this band! I just saw them two nights in a row here in Denver and they blew me away!
Cam, the drummer here, was standing in for their original drummer Nick who rejoined the band in Spring of 2019. Nick has the chops
Is this really Cam? Miss your drumming dude!
@@mountain9954 I think they are saying the drummer in this video
I'm not Cam, meant "here" in this vid
Cam IS way better than Nick. Cam is one hell of a drummer. Ranter... I love Cam.. but your HIGH and very misinformed if you think that's why he isn't in the band anymore. Nick IS the Spaff sound. The end
What a great band and review!! MOE PLZ-MOE PLZ-MOE PLZ
You should do an updated Spafford review with their new guy on keys and Nick back on drums. They are putting out some serious grooves
Need to check out Goose! Before the pandemic hottest up and coming jam band around! You'll dig their stuff
I came here to say this!
@@mcn1979 Me too
Goose for sure
Goose !!!
Yes! Question is what show/song?

"It gets the music nerds excited". Great quote. Love this guy.
I love this band, I see them everytime they're in Florida
Love love love this video. Spafford is one of my favorites. Brian really has the chops. I love you breaking down the videos, but I also lovee you playing along. Some of my favorite parts. Keep these videos up man
Finishing this video up. Brian is the king of faces
Just stumbled on your channel last week. This is by far my favorite of your videos that I have seen so far. Spafford is so good!
Saw this band live twice now and got lucky enough to Catch a postman my first time. Awesome band!
Your videos always get me even more excited about my favorite bands. 🙂

Dude it shows!! Thx man
Please do Prince, Tom Petty, Steve Winwood, Jeff Lynne and others -- "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" at the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. One of the best!
One of my favorite jam bands 🔥
Forced myself out of the house last March 10 days after having my hip replaced to see these guys for the first time in Portland. Saw them again in Dewey Beach over the summer, only got one song repeated. These guys are incredible. Give Ghost Light a listen, big jams and segues... make you wait for it.
Texture Hooks...I like that explanation. Glad you are getting into the "Building & Peaking" style of improv. Can't wait for the next live stream 🎸G8.

Yesss! Sweney would blow this guy's mind!
Love Ekoostik Hookah! Especially back when Ed and Cliff were there!
Music and musicianship is making a comeback in a big way and that is good for everyone's soul.
This band is in the pocket more of the time than most others. They had a one song set last year or the year before.
